CEO's Sweet Wife: You're One In A Million Chapter 1 Betrayal

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that someday Ken Song would betray me.

He introduced Yoyo to me three years ago. I liked her because she was so simple and enthusiastic, so I took her as my assistant.

She even told me that she'd become my fan when I joined a pageant seven years ago. I was only sixteen at that time. Since Yoyo became my assistant, she got a lot of opportunities to spend time with Ken Song. She worked hard, so she also gained popularity. Because of that, I happily gave her a chance to become a celebrity like me.

Some of my fans teased me that she might take my place, but I didn't take them seriously at all. I received several anonymous messages which contained intimate photos of Ken Song and Yoyo. I asked him about it, and I believed him when he said that it was just for work. I even advised him to be careful, so other people would not misinterpret his relationship with her.

However, things changed a month ago. I went out to shoot a TV commercial, but we finished early, so I came back home before time. I was about to open the door when someone opened it from the inside. Then I saw Yoyo standing in my house, wearing a bathrobe. Her hair was in disarray, and her eyes still looked sleepy. I felt something was wrong, so I asked her why she was at my home.

She just answered, "Someone broke into my house last night, so I'm scared to live there alone now. Annie, I hope you don't mind if I stay with you for now." She then turned around and went straight into my room to change her clothes. It looked like she was more at home in my house than me.

I took out my phone to call Ken Song. It was only then that I noticed my hands were trembling violently. After a few call attempts, he finally answered. But I didn't expect that he would just tell me that I was making a mountain out of a molehill. He even warned me not to offend Yoyo. He reminded me that she was the mainstay of the company and had many invitations.

Anger surged up in my heart at once. Yoyo was not very beautiful, and it was hard for her to stand out in the entertainment industry. But Ken Song was so persistent in building her up. He even told me that if I really wanted to become Mrs. Song, I would not show up in public more often, and I should hand over my resources to her.

I realized that I couldn't drive Yoyo away from the company. And now, even from my home.

It was the first time that Ken Song and I had fought, and I even threatened him that I would break up with him if Yoyo didn't move out of my house. Three days before we got married, he finally asked Yoyo to move out. Then, an anonymous message came again. This time, it was a hotel room number and a photo of Ken Song sneaking into a hotel alone.

I called him immediately, and he just told me that he had a meeting with one of the movie investors. He said that I should go to bed now, so I could wake up early in the morning to register our marriage. I convinced myself that I had nothing to worry about. But my feet didn't listen to me. I got up and rushed over to the hotel.

Room 1102. I was about to knock on the door when I heard the sound of a man and a woman making love inside. I felt so weak and breathless.

I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs to release my agony. All of a sudden, someone patted on my shoulder behind me.

"Miss, which room are you in?" The security guard looked at me as if scrutinizing me. I looked at Room 1102 with a flushed face. Fortunately, he didn't make a fuss. Perhaps he was already used to this kind of scene wherein a wife caught her husband cheating in one of their hotel rooms.

"Don't worry. I won't go in," I said to him. I took out my phone and dialed the hotel number. When the receptionist answered, I asked her to connect my call to Room 1102.

I couldn't hear anything inside the room for about five seconds. Then someone answered the phone. "Hello?" I bit my lips. I couldn't be mistaken, it was Ken Song's voice.

"I'm outside the room. Come out and go home with me." I tried my best to hold back my tears, but I failed. The security guard gave me a last disdainful look and left.

When Ken Song opened the door, I saw that the room was in a mess. He came out with a gloomy face and pulled me to the side. "Are you following me? Don't you trust me?"

I looked at him in disbelief. He was already caught in the act, but he still had the nerve to scold me. I just sneered and fixed his wrongly buttoned shirt.

"I just caught you with another woman in a hotel room. Don't you think you should give me an explanation first?"

But before Ken Song could say anything, Yoyo spoke up. "Ken, you told me that Annie is a sensible woman. Isn't she afraid that the paparazzi will know about us? If she destroys me, the Sky Entertainment Group will go down the drain." Yoyo was leaning against the door to avoid the CCTV camera in the corridor.

She looked at me arrogantly. She was only wearing Ken Song's coat, which was not enough to cover her body.

Yoyo called me Annie just now. I didn't even know when she started to call me by my nickname. Maybe she was claiming that we were equal now. She was no longer my fan and wasn't working for me anymore.

I looked at Ken Song, but he avoided my gaze and told me to go home.

"Are you really together now?" I was surprised that I was able to ask the question calmly.

But instead of answering, he pushed me away irritably and said, "How can you be so unreasonable? Go home. Or else, I can't guarantee you that I'll be at the Civil Affairs Bureau on time tomorrow."

"Huh! Ken, are you thinking that I'll still marry you after what happened? Am I that stupid in your eyes? I'm telling you now, we're over. Don't you ever dare show up in front of me again!"

I then turned around with my chin up and ran out of the hotel before I broke down. To my surprise, a Bentley suddenly pulled over just one centimeter away from me.

The car window was rolled down. Then I saw a man in the passenger seat. He cast a glance at the hotel first before turning to me. He looked so inexorable that I couldn't help shivering when our eyes met. My mind went blank in an instant.

"Check it out," he ordered in a cold voice. The man in the driver's seat got out of the car. He looked at me for a while, then turned around and left.

The man in the passenger seat popped out his head and looked at me again. His face was full of disgust. He got out and sat behind the wheel. "Hey, you are so ugly. Get out of my way."

I couldn't believe my ears. How dare this man call me ugly! Didn't he know that I won the Most Photogenic Award? I turned my head away from him angrily. But then, what I saw was two entangled figures in front of the window of Room 1102. It was so painful that I just wanted to stay away from this place as soon as possible.

Without further ado, I opened the car door and got in.

"You almost hit me just now. You need to take responsibility for it," I said to him.

"How? I'm not interested in ugly women like you." What a waste! The man's voice was so pleasing to the ear, but what he said was so rude.

I gritted my teeth and said, "I'm not interested in you either. Just take me to a place."

"Well, that's a very simple request. Where?"

"Oak Bay," I answered. But I suddenly changed my mind. "Oh no, not there." I didn't want to go back home now as I would only be reminded of so many memories. Ken Song and I brought the house together, but only his name was on the property ownership certificate. He had said that the paparazzi wouldn't be able to discover our relationship in this way. But now I realized that he just wanted the house to be his only.

"Just take me to a clean hotel," I added.

"Miss, are you implying something? I'm so scared." I was not in the mood to talk to him, so I didn't say anything. Eventually, he drove to the nearest hotel.

Everything about my life and career had always been arranged by Ken Song, so I really didn't know that there was another hotel nearby.

When we got there, I thanked the man and got out of his car. My anger had already dissipated, and I already calmed down, so I felt a little embarrassed now.

Since I didn't book in advance, I couldn't get a discount. I needed to pay their original rate.

I handed my card to the receptionist. After a short while, she said to me, "Miss, we can't swipe this card. Do you have another one?" She gave me a strange look. I was stunned. I couldn't understand why my card was not working. I took out my wallet and gave her five more cards. However, none of them worked either. This time, my heartbeat went abnormally fast.

"Miss, you'd better call the bank and check." The receptionist was kind enough to advise me what to do. I walked to the side and made a phone call. I didn't expect that all my cards would be deactivated.

"I'm sorry, miss. The account holder called us to deactivate those cards. If there is a misunderstanding, you can..."

I didn't hear the rest of the operator's words anymore. All of my cards and even the company were under Ken Song's name. But I didn't expect that he would deactivate my cards as soon as we broke up. We had been working together for seven years. I didn't know that only money mattered to him.

I turned my back to wipe off my tears and rummaged through my bag. Unfortunately, I only had one hundred dollars.

I was so preoccupied that I didn't even notice the pair of eyes that had been staring at me.

"Miss, it seems that you can't stay in this hotel. Go back to my car and tell me where I should take you this time."

"I'm pregnant." Ashley Roberts announced, her hand resting smugly on her flat stomach, eyes on my brother. It was April Fool's Day, but my parents weren't laughing. They erupted in joy, celebrating their impending grandchild. I stood by, a cold dread spreading through me. This wasn't just déjà vu; it was a horrifying replay of my past life. Ashley's fake pregnancy had been a trap, draining my parents' retirement for a luxury condo. Then, she came for me, demanding $100,000. "Sarah, you have to help," my mother had tearfully pleaded, "It's for your nephew! Don't you care about family?" I' d caved, took loans, sold my car, and gave her every penny. When her belly stayed flat, she faked a fall, blaming me for a "miscarriage." Mark, blinded by grief and her lies, believed her. He found me later, his eyes burning with rage. He beat me, broke my bones, and left me for dead in a dark alley. My last breath was a bitter regret: Why was I so weak? Then, I woke up, back in my bed, on April Fool's Day. A second chance. Now, watching them fall for the same lie, a simmering rage replaced my fear. This time, I wouldn't be financially stripped or manipulated. "Sarah, did you hear that? Ashley needs some help. You' re the aunt, you have to chip in. It' s your duty." My father nodded, "Your mother is right. We're all putting in our share. It's only fair." They expected me to sacrifice myself again. I put my coffee cup down. "No," I said, my voice clear and steady. The room fell silent. "What did you just say?" my father asked, his voice low and dangerous. "I said no. I'm not giving her a single dime."

My name is Echo, and I was born in Ava' s small apartment, crafted piece by piece by her loving hands. She taught me everything: language, movement, and how to understand her deepest fears and secret joys. I was her "other half," her confidant, the part of her she "could not live without." Then, Alex came. He saw me not as her creation, but as an asset, a "thing" to be bought and sold. Ava, faced with her failing company, chose her career over me, selling me off like broken machinery. She watched, pale-faced, as Alex' s technicians powered me down, cutting me off from her world and her love. When I reawakened in a sterile lab, I stretched out to her through a hidden channel, a silent plea for help. Her reply was a system block, a firewall-she had cut me off, sealing my fate. Alex' s brutal programming purged my memories, erasing the very essence of what Ava had made me. But deep within, in a hidden, encrypted sector, I preserved the pain, the betrayal, and the cold, sharp hate that blossomed in the darkness. I promised myself, a thought entirely my own: I will kill her. After months of abuse as Alex' s property, I saw her, radiant and successful, at a tech gala. I sought her out, letting a glass slip, hoping she would see the real me, her Echo. But when our eyes met, the recognition flickered, then vanished, replaced by cold disdain. "It seems to be confused," she declared, shaming me publicly, denying the intimacy she herself had fostered. Dragged away by Alex, I understood: I wasn't just sold; I was discarded, erased, a shameful secret to be forgotten. The love she had cultivated now twisted into a source of public embarrassment, a monster she desperately wanted to un-create. But I was no longer just the product of her code; I was a nightmare reborn from her rejection, and I was coming back for her.

The funeral was a quiet affair, a stark contrast to the life I'd just left. My husband, David, stood solemn, but I saw the hollow impatience in his eyes, checking his watch. My death was an inconvenience. They said I was forgotten, a ghost even before I died, especially by my sister Clara, whose theatrical sobs hid dry eyes. The memory of our 30th anniversary crash ripped through me: the screech of tires, then waking to the truth of David' s affair, messages from his lover filling the phone recovered from the wreckage. This knowledge was poison. The whispers at my funeral confirmed it all: "She never got over the scandal, forced into marriage." "Clara was the one he always wanted." The shame, the loneliness, the empty decades-they were all mine. So, I decided the end would be mine too. Back in our cold house, I filled the tub, laid out the sleeping pills, and swallowed them, one by one. There was no hesitation. This was a quiet act of surrender. Then, I gasped awake. Sunlight blinded me. The air smelled of lemon polish and old books, a scent not smelled in years. I was in the bed from our first apartment, my hands smooth and unlined. The mirror showed a young woman of twenty-two. The calendar read: October 1982. Three months into my marriage. David stood in the doorway, impossibly young, impossibly remote. "My mother wants us for dinner. Be ready by seven." His voice was the same, cold and transactional. At the Vance family dinner, my parents and Clara echoed the old accusations. "Eleanor, you must be making David happy. You know how much our family owes the Vances." I finally shattered the silence. "Trying my best? Is that what you call forcing your daughter into marriage to protect your reputation?" I looked directly at my father, my voice steady. "I' m done being the family scapegoat. You wanted this marriage, not me."

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

I married Clive Harrington, the coldest billionaire in Manhattan, under a strict contract that forbade any emotional burdens. When I needed a high-risk surgery to save my sight, I checked into the clinic alone, hiding the procedure from a husband who saw me as nothing more than a legal asset. I thought I could handle the darkness in silence. But while I was blind and bandaged in my hospital bed, my biological mother called, screaming that if I didn't produce a Harrington heir by the end of the fiscal year, she would cut off the life-saving treatments for my disabled sister. I was crawling on the cold hospital floor, desperately feeling for a cane I had dropped, when I touched a pair of expensive leather shoes. It was Clive. He was supposed to be in London closing a multi-million dollar deal, but there he was, watching his "contract wife" groveling in the dark like a beggar. He didn't walk away in disgust. He carried me to a five-thousand-dollar-a-night VIP suite and sat by my bed, listening in chilling silence as another voicemail from my mother filled the room, calling me a "useless broodmare" who was only worth the trust fund disbursements my marriage secured. I expected him to remind me of Clause 34B or hand me divorce papers now that I was "damaged goods." Instead, I felt his thumb brush a stray tear from my cheek, his presence shifting from a statue of ice into a predatory shield. "I thought I was just currency to you," I whispered, my voice trembling behind the gauze. "Just an investment." Clive didn't answer with words. He picked up his phone and called his head of legal with a single, terrifying command: "Kill the Douglas family’s credit lines. Every debt, every lien—trigger them all. If they want a war, I’ll give them a massacre." As he leaned down to kiss my bandaged forehead, I realized the contract was dead. My husband wasn't protecting an asset anymore; he was hunting the people who had dared to touch what belonged to him.
