Bella only found out her husband Adam had betrayed her when she was already pregnant. Not only did he take everything from her, but he even twisted the knife of betrayal upon divorcing her right after she had given birth. Now, all she could do is grit her teeth and walk away. However, the truth shed light on both parties, and Adam soon realized the misunderstandings and misfortunes that had coated their relationship from the very start. Determined to get her back, he promised to pursue her no matter how hard she refuses him. He wanted another chance. She wanted him gone. Would they ever mend their broken trust or would both of them live forever in regret?

Chapter 1 Have Nothing

"Adam, please let my father go. The company and the money are all yours, just let him go, please!"

Bella Mu's knees rubbed against the tiled floors as her small hands clutched the man's sleeves tightly. Tears ran down her cheeks as her voice trembled.

A bony middle-aged man was lying on the bed behind her. The heart monitor beeped through the chaotic silence, and she couldn't help but clutch his sleeves even tighter.

Adam Qin snorted. "Let him go? And my family? Did he let them go then?"

Shaking off Bella Mu's grip, he stomped up to the middle-aged man and grabbed a hold of his collar. Regardless of the man's weak figure, he shook him. "Darren Mu, have you ever thought about what had happened?

Do you remember the day you took away our company and then forced my parents into debt? Their blood is in your hands! You're the one who pushed my father to jump off the building."

Darren Mu was so weak that his chest heaved violently from the harsh grip. He wheezed out, "You! Who are you?"

A hint of sadness flashed in Adam Qin's eyes, and his smile grew even crueler. "Do you remember the Qin Family? Your good old friend?"

Darren Mu's eyes widened in shock, and the past rushed back to him. The machine must've detected the sudden emotional fluctuation from the patient's heart and gave out a warning beep. Just then, a band of doctors and nurses quickly hurried over.

However, as they pushed the door open, they heard a reverberating voice from the inside of the room, "Get out!" Suddenly, they all went to a halt, unsure of what to do.

Seeing this, Bella Mu quickly scrambled to her feet and raced towards them. "Doctors, nurses, please," she stuttered out. "Please help him. My father..."

The doctors could only stare at her awkwardly. However, one look at Adam Qin's frightening gaze, they could only grit their teeth and leave. The hospital had been receiving countless sponsorships from the Qin Group every year. At this point, they couldn't afford to offend him.

When the door closed, Bella Mu cried out desperately. Knowing that she had no other choice, she returned back to Adam Qin and knelt down. "Please, please let my Dad go. He has cancer." She hiccupped. "He doesn't have that much time left."

Adam Qin approached the old man indifferently, whispering into his ear, "See? Do you see your own daughter begging me like a dog? Are you happy?

Darren, you'd better live longer to see how much I can torture her." He snarled, "Go on. Open your eyes and look at her! In four months, she will birth my child. Would you like to guess what would happen to them?"

Darren Mu couldn't say another word. Instead, he struggled to open his eyes and stare at his beautiful daughter. He remembered spoiling her so much ever since she was a little girl. Now, everything was ruined.

Although he deserved this, there was no need for his daughter to lose all her dignity at the sight of this beast.

"Stand... Up..."

he stuttered out, before going into a series of coughs, but that went completely unnoticed by Bella Mu. She was too busy trying to convince the man to let her father go.

Staring at their desperate reaction, Adam Qin resisted the urge to laugh radically. "Oh, this is just the beginning," he cooed.

All of a sudden, the noisy instruments attached Darren Mu's body gave out multiple cries. Finally, the old man managed to sit up as he glowered at his daughter, despising himself more for seeing such a piteous sight.

"Stand up!" he cried.

"Dad!" Suddenly, the young woman collapsed onto the tiled floorings. Translucent liquid pooled beneath her.

Suddenly, it seemed as if hundreds of things had happened in one go. She could hear faint shouts of, "Mr. Adam, Miss Bella's amniotic fluid has broken. She's about to give birth!"

A wave of pain coursed through her abdomen as she yelled out, clutching the sides of her bed. "Congratulations, Sir. It's a boy," one of the nurses announced.

"A woman like you will never be qualified to stay by Adam's side. You'd better get out of here as fast as you can."

At the voice, Bella Mu quickly snapped out of her memories as a baby's cry echoed in her ears. Struggling to sit up, she quickly lifted the quilt from her frail body and got out of bed.

As soon as she got up, her legs trembled from the sudden weight, and she found herself falling back onto the cushions. At this time, a woman came walking in. Upon seeing what had become of her, she quickly rushed over and helped Bella Mu back onto the bed.

"What are you doing? You still haven't recovered yet!" she snapped. "Get back to bed."

"Sally, I heard the baby crying," Bella Mu said faintly, grabbing her friend's wrist. She refused to lie back. "I–I have to find him. I'm going to find him..."

"Even if you do want to find your baby, you can't now. You still need to recover." Seeing her friend's desperation, Sally Lin could feel a lump rising to her throat. She turned away, not wanting to see the piteous state her best friend was in. "How can you find him if you're still so weak? Get some rest first, please."

What else could she do?

The woman's words was like a slap in the face. Bella stiffened under her grip as continuous tears rolled down her cheeks.

The moment she had given birth to her baby, the Qin Family quickly drove her out. The only reason why she was living now was because of Sally Lin's kindness, yet more than a month had past, and she still hadn't recovered. If she went there to the mansion and asked for her son, she would receive nothing but humiliation and insincerity. What else could she do?

Staring at her torn expression, Sally Lin sighed in frustration. She hated how ruthless the Qin Family was, and she couldn't help but feel sorry for what her friend had to go through.

However, no matter how much she wanted to rip the man's face off, she steadied her anger and moved closer. Right now, Bella would need all the comfort she could find. "Have a good rest," Sally Lin suggested. "Once you recover, we can go find them together. Is that okay?"

Bella didn't answer. Instead, she leaned against the edge of the bed and bit on her wrists. Hatred was poured out of her heart, washing her bones and body with the vengeance in her soul.

After crying for a while, the woman gradually fell asleep. Sally Lin tucked her in and left a note by the bedside table, preparing to go out. She still had to deal with numerous company issues from the amount of contracts she needed to look over.

When the door closed, Bella suddenly opened her eyes.

After waiting for a while, she slowly got up and crept up to the window. Once the coast was clear, she began to put on her clothes.

She was going to find Adam and take her son back! She would see her son over her dead body!

She didn't even wait for a single minute before she rushed down the stairs. Once she had hailed a taxi from the roadside, she quickly requested that the driver take her to the Qin Family's villa as fast as he could.

When they arrived, she could see the villa from across the street. Just as she was about to rush in, she froze. If she casually went in like this, she would most likely be driven out. If she wanted to get close to her child, then she had no other choice but to sneak in.

A bitter smile slithered into her lips. Fortunately, she had lived here for many years and knew the place like the back of her hand. Sneaking in wouldn't be difficult.

Thinking of this, she tiptoed to the back of the villa. After months of living with the man, she knew for a fact that he didn't like having many people in his home, so he usually kept a nanny. It was around noon now, so the nanny must've been in the kitchen.

As she gingerly entered from the back door, Bella cautiously looked around her, trying to figure out her next move. However, before she could even take a step forward, voices rang out from the living room.

"Adam, I'll be going shopping tomorrow. Will you be coming with me?"

"Tomorrow afternoon."

"Great! I'll set it up now."

Bella knew very well who the man was, but she was unfamiliar with the woman's voice. Not being able to help herself, she took a step towards the living room. Sure enough, she could make out a figure of the coquettish woman leaning intimately against Adam's arms.

She staggered backwards, only to hit the wall heavily. The vase by the corner was knocked down by her hands, and the sound of the crashing porcelain attracted their attention.

"What happened?" He looked back.

Widening her eyes, Bella hurried to hide inside one of the rooms by the right. Adam had assumed that the noise must've been made by the nanny, but seeing as she didn't answer, he grew even more suspicious.

When he caught sight of the broken fragments all over the tiles, his face grew unnaturally dark. "Come out!" he shouted coldly, facing the storage room in front of him.

Hearing the noise, Bella had to cover her mouth to keep herself from gasping out. A few seconds had passed, and Adam still didn't hear any response. Out of anger, he kicked the door open, only to see the exposed bottom half of Bella's figure.

"What are you doing here?"

Seeing as she had been discovered, she figured that there was no use in hiding her purpose anymore. "I want to see the baby."

A mocking smile threaded across the man's lips as he squinted. "Baby? Whose baby?"

"Mine!" She took a step forward.

Adam reeled back in disgust, as if the person in front of him had a virus. "Don't pretend to be so piteous," he sneered. "How about this? I'll give you one minute to leave. Otherwise, don't blame me for being merciless."

Bella's heart ached at the sight of the man's face. She blinked back the unshed tears, and she tried her best to steady her unstable footing. Her poor recovery from giving birth only caused her to collapse onto the ground.

"Adam..."

"You dare call his name? Don't be so shameless!" The woman approached the pair as she snorted in disdain.

I stood at the edge of the freezing pond on the Boone estate, my body trembling with a fear that rattled my bones. Across from me, Amanda Olsen looked immaculate in her cashmere coat, a sharp contrast to the jagged reality I was trying to hold together. "Why?" I whispered. Amanda just smiled, admitting she killed Grandpa Boone because he actually liked me. She pulled out a thick envelope-divorce papers Cordero had signed that morning. She told me he called me a parasite and was celebrating with her the night I suffered a miscarriage. Before I could even scream, Amanda lunged and shoved me into the icy water. My heavy wool coat acted like a sponge, dragging me into the artificial abyss. I thrashed and gasped for air, but Amanda just stood on the bank, watching me drown with her hands tucked casually in her pockets. As my lungs burned and the darkness closed in, I realized I had spent my entire marriage taking their abuse. I was the "foster trash" and the "gold digger" who let them win every single time. I was dying alone, hated by the husband I had tried so hard to love, while my murderer stood victorious on the shore. I never fought back. I just let them destroy me. Then, a violent spasm tore through my body. I sat up gasping, sucking in dry, air-conditioned oxygen instead of murky pond water. I wasn't dead. I was back in the opulent master suite, surrounded by red rose petals and wedding decorations. The digital clock glowed: October 14, 2019. I had gone back five years to the very night my nightmare began. The bathroom door clicked open, and Cordero stepped out, looking at me with the same cold disgust I remembered. But as I gripped the silk sheets, a new resolve hardened in my chest. This time, I wasn't going to be the victim. This time, the Boone family was going to find out exactly what happens when you push someone too far.

The alarm shrieked through the silent mansion, a sound I knew better than my own heartbeat. For fifteen years, I had been Dorian Steele' s living, breathing medicine, my blood the only cure for his fatal seizures. But then, his fiancée, Ainsley, arrived. She was flawless, a vision of cold, stunning beauty, and she looked like she belonged here. He shoved me away from him, pulling the silk sheets up to cover my worn pajamas as if I were something dirty. "Kira, clean this mess up. And get out." He dismissed me like a servant, after clinging to me for life just moments before. The next morning, she sat in my chair, wearing his shirt, a love bite visible on her neck. She taunted me, and when I spilled coffee, he didn't even notice, too busy laughing with her. Later, Ainsley accused me of breaking Eleanor' s prized porcelain vase. Dorian, without question, believed her. He forced me to my knees on the broken shards, the pain searing my flesh. "Apologize," he growled, pressing down on my shoulder. I whispered my apology, each word a surrender. Then, they drained my blood for her, for a fabricated illness. "Ainsley needs this," he said, his voice flat. "She's more important." More important than the girl who had given him her life. I was a resource to be exploited, a well that would never run dry. He had promised he would always protect me, but now he was the one holding the sword. I was nothing more than a pet, a creature he kept for his own survival. But I was done. I accepted an offer from the Estes family, a desperate, archaic idea of a "propitious marriage" to their comatose son, Emmett. It was my only escape.

My husband, David, beamed with pride at our son Ethan' s university acceptance. I sat across the table, a ghost in a designer dress, invisible. I was the silent engine of their success, but tonight, I was out of fuel. That night, a notification from our shared cloud storage revealed David' s secret: a photo album of him and a young flight attendant, Olivia Hayes, on romantic trips. My heart shattered as I recognized a delicate silver necklace on her-the one I' d admired and hinted at to David, which he' d bought for her. When David and Ethan walked in, their laughter died as they found me on the floor, the truth exposed on my phone. David' s anger flared, accusing me of being hysterical, while Ethan, his loyalty firmly with his father, told me not to ruin their night. David then casually tossed a credit card at me, thinking money could fix everything. I refused, my voice clear and steady as they walked away, leaving me alone in the house I had built, a home where I no longer belonged. The man I married, who once vowed "Wherever you go, I will go," had just run to another woman as I lay bleeding on the airport lounge floor after an explosion. He didn't even glance back. That crystal-clear moment solidified everything: he wouldn't save me, he wouldn't even try. I looked at him, the stranger he had become. "I want a divorce, David," I declared, my voice loud and clear, silencing the chaos around us. I knew then that the only thing I regretted was not ending this sooner.

I spent four hours preparing a five-course meal for our fifth anniversary. When Jackson finally walked into the penthouse an hour late, he didn't even look at the table. He just dropped a thick Manila envelope in front of me and told me he was done. He said his stepsister, Davida, was getting worse and needed "stability." I wasn't his wife; I was a placeholder, a temporary fix he used until the woman he actually loved was ready to take my place. Jackson didn't just want a divorce; he wanted to erase me. He called me a "proprietary asset," claiming that every design I had created to save his empire belonged to him. He froze my bank accounts, cut off my phone, and told me I’d be nothing without his name. Davida even called me from her hospital bed to flaunt the family heirloom ring Jackson claimed was lost, mocking me for being "baggage" that was finally being cleared out. I stood in our empty home, realizing I had spent five years being a martyr for a man who saw me as a transaction. I couldn't understand how he could be so blind to the monster he was protecting, or how he could discard me so coldly after I had given him everything. I grabbed my hidden sketchbook, shredded our wedding portrait, and walked out into the rain. I dialed a number I hadn't touched in years—a dangerous man known as The Surgeon who dealt in debts and shadows. I told him I was ready to pay his price. Jackson and Davida wanted to steal my identity, but I was about to show the world the literal scars they had left behind.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
