The two people she trusted and cherished the most were the same ones who betrayed her. Tyler married Yuliana only to gain a firm foothold in her family's company and grab its major shares. The one he really liked had always been her cousin, Brenna. Only when Yuliana gave birth to their child did she finally see through their true colors. Tragedy struck when her blind faith in love was what killed her and the unborn baby. But by some miracle, God gave her another chance. She was reborn, rising like a phoenix from the ashes. Fighting back, she would make them pay the price for the horrible things they had done to her.

Chapter 1 Difficult Labor (Part One)

"She is going to go into labor very soon!"

"The patient's suffering a massive haemorrhage!"

"She is badly in need of blood transfusion. Does anyone here share her blood type?"

The Central Hospital of G City had a large maternity ward. Inside, Yuliana Ye, who was about to give birth, was sweating all over. She was exhausted. Much of her physical strength had been consumed due to the difficult labor she was in, and as a result, her vision was blurred. She could only hear the noise and footsteps around her and then they gradually disappeared far away.

"Help me..." Yuliana Ye felt a wave of cold coming over her, and despair rose from the bottom of her heart.

She knew that her family was outside the delivery room right now. But she was so weak that she couldn't call out to them. And the heavy door isolated her from the outside world.

"Sister." She suddenly heard a familiar voice. It belonged to her cousin Brenna Bai, and Yuliana Ye's dark eyes lit up when she heard her voice. A glimmer of hope rose from her desperate heart.

"Help me..." Full of hope, Yuliana Ye raised her bloody hand. It took all the strength she could muster just to do that.

She had always treated Brenna Bai as her own sister. And furthermore, after her cousin's parents had died, Yuliana Ye's father had felt sorry for the little girl and taken her in as his own daughter.

Yuliana Ye sincerely believed that the reason Brenna Bai had appeared now was to save her. However, she was so wrong!

With her long hair rolled up, Brenna Bai told her with a ferocious look, "Sister, you are so naive."

At the sight of Yuliana Ye's swollen belly, the resentment in Brenna Bai's eyes increased several folds, which gave Yuliana Ye a bad feeling. She subconsciously tried to protect her belly.

"Only I can have Tyler's child!" With a frightening look, Brenna suddenly held Yuliana's belly with her slender fingers and out of the blue, began to press it down hard. Pain and panic rushed into her heart with every single moment. Her eyes began to water.

"How dare you!" The sharp and resentful voice of Brenna came once again.

"No!" Feeling the threat to her belly and the life inside it, Yuliana struggled desperately, but she was too weak now. All her struggles were in vain.

"Help! Help me!" Tears streamed down Yuliana's cheeks and she croaked in a painful voice. The pitiful look on her face only made Brenna even more jealous.

Actually, it was because of Yuliana's beautiful face that Brenna was determined to destroy everything the former had.

"Stop yelling. It's useless, my dear sister!" Brenna's cold voice reached her ears with a trace of irony. "Tyler and I have already bribed the doctors and nurses. No one is going to be allowed to enter this room! At this moment, you can only see us!"

With an indifferent expression on his face, Tyler Xin was standing at the door. He was just standing there and watching coldly as Brenna bullied Yuliana.

"Tyler!" With tears in her eyes, Yuliana reached out a hand to him for help.

Tyler Xin had always taken good care of her. What was more, as the father of the child, he wouldn't sit by and do nothing!

"Save our child," she called out!

But the expressions on his face were also of irony. The only gentle gaze he sent was to Brenna. "There is no need for you to hold back!"

It broke her to see that Tyler Xin wasn't even looking at her while he was talking to Brenna.

It looked like Yuliana was just an irrelevant outsider in this scenario.

Her heart had gotten a glimmer of hope just now, but it was all gone. And she was desperate again.

She felt like she had fallen into an ice cellar, watching her husband and cousin who were affectionately looking at each other in front of her.

Theoretically, they should be the most trusted and loving people in her life, but they were the ones who were cutting Yuliana's heart one by one.

"You..." The love she could see in Brenna and Tyler's eyes for each other killed Yuliana. It was painful and heartbreaking and impossible to stop!

"Why did you steal my husband?" Piercing pain brought by the betrayal overwhelmed Yuliana. Her cousin was stealing her husband from her, and she had never known anything about it.

"Your husband?" Brenna sneered. "Tyler is my boyfriend. You were only ever a means to an end! Tyler was only with you because you could help him gain a firm foothold in the Hua Feng Company and grab its major shares!"

Yuliana felt an endless darkness spiraling in front of her. She had been used! So it was only because of her identity as the chairman's daughter of the Hua Feng Company that Tyler Xin had been good to her?

"I'm the one that Tyler really likes in his heart! I have always been the one! Yuliana, you have been the wife of the CEO for so many years. It's time for you to give it up."

Brenna's hatred of Yuliana was obvious in her eyes.

However, Yuliana still was in denial. "Why did you do this to me?" She didn't even have the strength to cry anymore. She was just lying there, weak and hopeless and alone on the bed in the delivery room.

"Why?" Brenna's eyes opened wide with fury! She sneered and pinched Yuliana's arm with her long nails. "I'm also the daughter of the Ye family. Why do outsiders think you are the sole noble daughter? But they only regard me as an adopted child. Why does everyone else treat me so differently?" Brenna knew clearly that Tyler's mother won't allow the two of them to get married because she wasn't actually an offspring of Hunter Ye. So she had to give Tyler over to Yuliana, even though she loved him.

And now, Yuliana was going to experience the same pain she had gone through!

Yuliana was shocked. How could Brenna think such a thing? Her father had taken Brenna in as his own child!

Wasn't that enough for Brenna?

"You don't know it yet, do you? My 'dear' sister." Brenna was satisfied with Yuliana's astonishment.

"You could have a C-section, but if so, our plan would fail! Which means, we need to do something about it!"

Looking at Yuliana's bulging belly, Brenna continued, "You are going to go into a bad labor now!"

With an innocent look in her eyes, she then told her, "Bad labor can kill people."

Brenna raised her wrist and looked at her watch nonchalantly.

"Marco has probably got wind of your labor. So I am sure he is driving here by now." There was a bloodthirsty joy in her eyes as she raised her hand and pinched Yuliana's chin, forcing the latter to look into her eyes. "But, do you think your dear brother will be able to arrive here safely and see you one last time?"

Like a bolt from the blue, Yuliana felt the news hit her. She stared at Brenna in disbelief. "You..."

Although Marco Ye was not very close to Brenna, he was not mean to her and he was still her family.

Yuliana hadn't expected that Brenna would do something to Marco Ye too.

"All right. It's late!" Tyler seemed to be getting impatient upon seeing Yuliana. He walked forwards, gently wrapped his arms around Brenna's waist and then said, "Don't talk to her. We've already told her so much about the impending doom. I am sure she will die in peace now."

With a proud smile, Brenna said, "Tyler..."

He immediately understood what she wanted. Then he slowly lifted his hand, pressing on Yuliana's belly.

The two people closest to her had betrayed her badly. All she had left was this child. No matter what, she couldn't let anything happen to the child.

However, Yuliana had run out of all her strength, owing to her labor, and she couldn't fight against Tyler. She just kept begging, "Look. You can do anything you want. Please don't hurt the child. Have some mercy. He is your child!"

Yuliana was hoping that Tyler would have some conscience and let go of the unborn baby which was his own.

However, the corners of his mouth merely curved into a cruel smile, and he tightened his grip.

"My child? Do you take me for a fool? Do you think I don't know that Malik likes you? I know that you begged Malik to not compete with me for the position of CEO. I may not have been there but I am sure I can figure out what happened that made him give up!"

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.

My husband was the Don of New York, and for ten years, I was his perfect trophy wife. I designed his buildings, kept his secrets, and stood by his side as the envy of the city. But the moment his mistress marched into my casino with a secret son, my decade of loyalty meant nothing. The boy demanded my grandmother's bracelet—which was dangling from his wrist. When I reached to take back what was mine, Emilio didn't defend me. He shoved me. Hard. I crashed backward into a wall of shattered glass. While I lay bleeding on the marble floor I had hand-picked, losing our unborn child, he didn't even look at me. He was on his knees, wrapping his suit jacket around another woman's son to shield him from the debris. In the hospital, the cruelty only worsened. "It was an accident, Elana. Leo was scared." He dismissed the death of our baby as collateral damage. He had given my family heirloom to his bastard child and chose them over me without hesitation. I realized then that the Omertà—our sacred code of silence—was a lie. He had built a warm, loving shadow family while I was just a useful decoration waiting in a cold mansion. He wanted to bury me in that life forever. So, I decided to give him a funeral. I staged my suicide off the cliffs of the estate, letting the freezing ocean swallow Elana Thomas. Now, everyone thinks the Don's wife is dead. But in Zurich, a new woman named Elena is very much alive, and she’s coming back to burn his empire to the ground.

One moment, I was just Sarah, pulling weeds from my tomato patch under the hot Nebraska sun, living the quiet farm life I' d painstakingly built. The next, a chilling wave of memory, raw and horrifying, washed over me – memories of another life, a past I' d lived and died. And with that horrific clarity, I saw him again: Mark, my husband, the man who disappeared seven years ago, now limping up our driveway, playing the pathetic, broken-down prodigal son. My heart didn't leap; it solidified into a cold, hard stone, because I remembered everything he'd done in that other life. I remembered how we' d welcomed him in, how my in-laws had drained their life savings, how I'd sold my mother's last keepsakes, all out of love and misguided pity. I remembered how he' d squandered every penny on his secret city wife and her gambling debts, then, when the money ran out, tried to sell our farm out from under us. I remembered the barn burning, the livestock screaming, the loan sharks he brought to our door, leaving us with nothing but ashes, debt, and the bitter taste of his laughter as he drove away. None of us survived that first time. Now, he was back, with the same tattered clothes and the same practiced look of sorrow, mouthing the same fake emotions: "Sarah, I finally made it home." My blood ran cold with the memory of starving in the winter, of seeing my mother-in-law cry, of the life he had so casually incinerated. I would not let it happen again. This time, I would not be the same naive country wife; I would make sure he walked into a trap of his own making, a trap from which he would never escape.

The last thing I remembered was the cold, not from the biting wind in the remote forest, but the icy grip of utter betrayal. My own family, my sister Ashley, my parents, stood by a luxury RV, watching me. Ashley screamed for the camera, a performance of feigned terror, then shoved me hard, sending me stumbling towards the grim-faced survivalists waiting in the shadows. I later learned, in the brief, hellish time before I died, that the video of my "accident" went viral. Ashley' s follower count exploded, millions celebrating my demise, fueled by my family's lies about my supposed tech addiction and instability. They raked in donations and sponsorship deals, building a life of grotesque luxury upon my very corpse. Then, there was only crushing darkness. Until now. My eyes snapped open to the familiar white ceiling of my bedroom. My heart hammered, a trapped bird, but there were no wounds, no lingering chill of death. Frantically, I grabbed my phone, and the date glowed back, October 12th-the very day they coerced me into the "digital detox survival challenge." I was back. A hysterical laugh bubbled from my throat, a wild, unhinged sound. "You' re finally awake, Ashley has the most wonderful idea," my mother, Brenda, cooed, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. Ashley appeared, phone already rolling, a predatory smile on her face. "Sissy! We need a family trip, a real bonding experience!" They stood there, these soulless monsters who profited from my murder, smiling. Last time, I fought, I pleaded, I was worn down by their emotional blackmail, used for my skills, then discarded. But this time would be different. A slow, chilling smile spread across my face, one that didn't reach my eyes. "That sounds like a fantastic idea," I said, my voice smooth as glass. I would play my part, be the compliant daughter, the sister who had finally seen the light. And then, deep in the wilderness, far from any help, I would make them pay. I would give them the authentic survival content they craved, just not in the way they expected. The hunt was on.
