If it hadn't been for Emma, Jack wouldn't have been lying on the bed for two years since that accident. She tried her best to take care of him every day and even lied to him that she cheated on him, only to motivate him to get up. However, he tried every means to torture her to vent his hatred of her. Swallowing all the grievances and bitterness, she was still there for him and treated him patiently and gently. Even before he knew, his indifference had already been melted down by her.

Drowning In Your Love Chapter 1 Emma, I Will Kill You

"If the patient won't cooperate, then he might not be able to stand up again."

As the doctor was speaking, Emma Xia stared at Jack Ouyang indifferently. He was lying on the bed with his eyes closed and his face clouded over.

She knew for a fact that he was only pretending to be asleep.

"In the next ten days, you must make the patient move whatever the cause." The doctor gave her a look that meant he wasn't going to compromise for them any longer.

"I will try my best to help him," she said firmly. "Don't worry."

"All right. I'll be off." The doctor glanced at Jack Ouyang and shook his head sadly. Without another word, he walked out the door.

'If it hadn't been for me, the man wouldn't have been disabled two years ago,' she thought.

Emma Xia glared at Jack Ouyang's peaceful face, curling her fingers into tiny fists.

"Are you really pretending to be asleep?" she snapped.

"Fine,

you asked for it."

She didn't give him time to react as she grabbed a glass of water on the night table. She splashed it on his face with no mercy.

Jack was shocked, grabbing her wrists. "Do you want to die?"

Emma Xia laughed, staring into his drenched face. "Look at yourself. You think you can threaten me?"

She shook his grip from her wrists. Emma was about to walk away when he pulled her towards him.

Emma stumbled back into his body as her wrists ached from the sudden movement. She struggled to get off him, but Jack Ouyang quickly stretched out his hand and pinched her cheeks. "What's wrong with me now?" he snarled. "I could kill you with just a flick of my finger?" When was it her turn to taunt him? Glaring at the woman who had caused his disability,

Jack's eyes were filled with hatred.

Emma smirked, flicking his hand away from her face. "And who'll believe that, loser?"

He clenched his fists. Blue veins popped out of his forehead, carving down the back of his neck.

'Bitch!'

Seeing how angry he was, she couldn't help but be amused. "I'm your brother's woman. Fine! Ravish me if you want. Let's see if you can!" Her words were dripping with mockery.

"Emma Xia, I'll kill you!" The woman angered him so much that he instinctively thought of moving his body up to strangle her.

Jack stretched and twisted his body, struggling with his disability.

When she saw him finally motivated to move, Emma was so happy that she almost wanted to cry.

She clapped her hands together.

Seeing that what she had said worked, she continued, "I'll celebrate my birthday with your brother tonight. We'll have a wonderful night together. I guess I consider myself lucky that no one will prevent us from – Ah!"

Without warning, he pounced at her, burying himself deep into her. Emma screamed, face turning pale at the impact. The pain she felt made her want to refuse him, but she gritted her teeth. 'Maybe he'd try to move after this,' she thought.

He tried to wrap himself around her waist, but due to his weak legs, he only found himself stumbling through.

Emma raised an eyebrow. "Are you that weak? God, you're even worse than your brother–"

Before she finished, Jack was so angry that his legs moved around her.

"You want me to put you to death, huh! If I don't kill you now, I'll only feel sorry for myself!"

Hanging out with his brother? She wished.

Although his face was flushed, his anger was already returning him back to normal.

She might be in pain, but her lips twitched at the thought of him moving his legs again.

It was a good start.

He turned over by instinct, pressing down on Emma under his body. "How could you even repair the membrane?" Jack sneered as if he had just eaten a fly. She was so tight that he almost believed that she was still a virgin.

As Emma panted for breath, she laughed. "Please," she snapped, groaning in pain. "As if you can break a repaired hymen with those legs."

She wished that Jack could stand up, even if it was just to kick her out of the room.

"Bang!"

Jack punched the headboard before slipping into her again. She yelled in a mix of pain and pleasure as he started to pump into her.

They didn't stop till she passed out.

Hearing the ruckus inside the room, a nurse rushed over. Seeing Jack sitting on his bed, the nurse widened her eyes in surprise. "Doctor! Mr. Jack is sitting up!"

Four doctors rushed into the ward at the same time, staring in surprise at the sudden development. Jack crossed his arms. "Get this woman out!"

One of the doctors saw that Emma had fainted on the floor.

Seeing the disheveled clothes and the light amount of blood, they all exchanged awkward looks. The leading doctor adjusted his glasses. "Lucy, help this lady out. We'll do an examination on Mr. Jack," he addressed to the nurse.

"Okay!" she answered. Without another word, the nurse squatted down to carry Emma out of the ward.

Everyone knew what they had done inside the ward.

"Umm..."

Emma groaned out. She opened her eyes, only to feel every cell of her body screaming in pain. She winced, the drowsiness disappearing almost immediately.

"Miss Emma, you finally wake up!"

Hearing the nurse's voice, Emma turned to her. "Am I injured?" She took a deep breath only to feel as if her chest was being stabbed by hundreds of knives.

That bastard!

"It's rare, but reasonable. Mr. Jack never had sex the past two years, so the injuries are understandable. Please get some rest. If you feel uncomfortable, you could ring the bell and the doctor will come and see you."

"Okay!" Seeing the secretive smile on the nurse's face, she knew that the nurse must've thought how deeply in love they were with each other. At the thought, Emma could only feel bitterness seeping into her heart.

Once the nurse walked out, Emma stared into the ceiling. "As long as Jack can walk again, everything I've done is worth it," she promised herself.

She owed him that much.

Her injuries now were nothing compared to the pain Jack was experiencing.

As soon as she came out of the lounge, Emma walked straight to Jack's ward.

Outside the room, she stopped. Jack was leaning against the headboard. His eyes were closed as if he was deep in thought. Not wanting to disturb him, Emma turned around and headed towards the elevator.

In the past two years, she'd been staying in his ward and taking care of him, even during the holidays. He'd punish her every night, but she didn't really care. As long as she could get him to walk again, it was all worth it.

I was Ethan Dejesus’s "glorified roommate" for eight long years. Even though I was a successful doctor, I lived in the guest room of his luxury penthouse and spent my mornings making his coffee like a servant while waiting for a ring that was never coming. The breaking point came when Ethan forced me to give his mistress, Delisa, a medical exam in the VIP wing of my own hospital. He didn't just want to break my heart; he wanted to destroy my professional dignity in front of the woman he was cheating with. During a paparazzi swarm at his estate, a heavy camera lens hit me in the temple, leaving me bleeding on the floor. Ethan didn't even flinch. He stepped over my body to protect Delisa, making sure he looked like a hero for the cameras while I struggled to stand. That night, I overheard him laughing at a bar, telling his friends I was like a "stray dog" that would always crawl back for scraps no matter how much he starved me. When I finally stood up to him, he shoved me out of his SUV onto a dark highway in the middle of a rainstorm and threw my purse into the mud. I walked for miles in the freezing rain, only to get home and find Delisa already moved into the penthouse, sitting at my vanity and wearing my clothes. "You'll be back in a week when the money runs out," he laughed as I packed my only suitcase. "You're a nobody from Queens. You have nothing without me." I looked at the man I had loved for nearly a decade and realized the woman who worshipped him was dead. He had murdered her on that highway, and he didn't even care. I blocked his number, dropped my key card on the floor, and walked out into the night without looking back. I wasn't going to be his "stray dog" anymore. I was heading to a small house in the suburbs to meet Carleton Schmitt—a total stranger I had agreed to marry in a moment of drunken desperation who was now my only way out.

I spent two years navigating the stratified air of Spencer Kensington’s world, thinking I was the woman he loved. I even ate instant ramen for months to afford a vintage camera lens for our anniversary. When I got a mysterious text about "Operation Blue Moon," I thought it was our private signal for a proposal. Instead, I walked into a limestone fortress to find the Kensington and Van Der Woodsen Engagement Party in full swing. Spencer wasn't there for a romantic dinner; he was standing under a crystal chandelier, announcing his "business merger" with a blonde heiress. When I confronted him in a service hallway, he didn't apologize. He offered to buy me a brownstone and keep me as his "side project" while his mother, Victoria, watched from the balcony like a queen. "Vanessa is just furniture," he said, his voice full of a terrifying sincerity. "But you're the one I love. I can give you a life of ease." When I refused to be his dirty little secret, the retaliation was instant and brutal. By the next morning, I was fired from my reporting job, my father’s nursing home funding was pulled, and I returned home to find my apartment condemned by the city. My entire life was piled in wet boxes on a rain-soaked sidewalk. I couldn't understand how one family could have the power to erase a person’s existence in a single night. How could the man who kissed me yesterday watch his mother leave me homeless and penniless today? Standing in the rain next to my ruined belongings, a black SUV pulled up and Mayor Julian Sterling stepped out. He didn't offer me pity; he offered me a deal. "The Kensingtons are panicked," he said, his eyes cold and calculating. "And panicked people make mistakes. You have a reason to watch them burn. I want to see what you know." I took his hand, knowing he was just as dangerous as the people I was fighting, but I was done being the victim. This wasn't just a breakup anymore; it was a war.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."
