FINDING A HAPPY EVER AFTER What happens when the woman who gives everyone love is the one who ends up with a broken heart? From the outside, Audrey's life seems perfect. A successful husband, two beautiful children, and a family that appears to have everything anyone could wish for. Surely, this is what a happy ever after looks like. But fairy tales are not always what they seem. Behind the smiles and seemingly peaceful home lies a reality Audrey never imagined she would have to face. Torn between being the mother her children need and the wife her husband expects, she struggles to hold her family together while silently fighting battles no one else can see. And when the man she trusted begins to shatter the very foundation of their marriage, Audrey must confront a painful truth: sometimes, the person you build your life around is the very person who tears it apart. Heartbroken, betrayed, and terrified of ever loving again, Audrey makes a decision that could change the course of her life forever. She will protect her heart, put her children first, and never allow anyone to hurt her that way again. But life has other plans. With the unexpected help of her hilarious, unpredictable father, Audrey begins to discover that even the darkest chapters can hold surprising possibilities. Yet healing is never easy, especially when the past refuses to stay buried and the future demands choices she is not ready to make. Meanwhile, Audrey's daughter, Tessie, is fighting battles of her own. Struggling to find her place in a world where fitting in seems impossible, Tessie soon discovers that growing up is nothing like the fairy tales she once believed in. And between family secrets, unexpected friendships, embarrassing moments, and the endless chaos of everyday life, this household is about to prove that laughter and heartbreak can exist under the same roof. As unexpected twists turn their lives upside down, Audrey must decide whether to lock her heart away forever or risk everything for the possibility of love again. Will refusing to love protect her from another heartbreak, or will it cost her the happiness she has always deserved? Can a woman who has lost faith in love ever find her own happy ever after? Sometimes, finding a happy ending means surviving the most heartbreaking beginning. Welcome to Audrey's world-a family full of secrets, laughter, betrayal, unexpected connections, and second chances, where nothing is quite as simple as it seems and happily ever after is anything but guaranteed.
The house was quiet, almost unnaturally so.
Sunlight streamed through the wide windows, illuminating the beautiful furniture and spotless floors. Everything looked perfect. A successful businessman, a beautiful wife, and two lovely children. From the outside, Audrey and David's family seemed to have everything anyone could wish for.
But appearances could be deceiving.
Behind the elegant walls of their home, a marriage was falling apart, and the woman who had spent years trying to hold it together was finally reaching her breaking point.
A door slammed upstairs.
Moments later, hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway before the bedroom door flew open.
Audrey barged inside, her eyes blazing with anger and disbelief. Her hands trembled at her sides, and her breathing was uneven as she stared at the man standing near the wardrobe.
David.
Her husband. The father of her two children. The man she had once believed would never deliberately hurt her.
He was adjusting his cufflinks as though nothing had happened, as though he hadn't just destroyed something precious between them.
"What the hell is wrong with you? This is definitely not the man I fell in love with!"
David glanced at her through the mirror before turning around. Instead of looking ashamed, he appeared irritated that she had interrupted him.
"Oh, please, shut up. You have no right to talk to me that way."
Audrey froze.
For a second, she wondered whether she had heard him correctly. She had expected excuses, perhaps even an argument, but she hadn't expected him to speak to her as if she were nothing more than an annoying stranger.
"No right?" she repeated, her voice rising. "How can you even say such a thing to me after I caught you red-handed cheating on me with your stupid receptionist?"
David's expression changed, but not in the way she had hoped.
"Hey, she's not stupid."
Audrey stared at him.
Of all the things he could have said, he had chosen to defend the woman he had cheated on her with.
A bitter laugh escaped her lips, though there was nothing amusing about the situation.
"Seriously, David? That's what you have to say? You're standing here after betraying your wife, and the only thing you can think about is defending her?"
"Don't twist my words."
"Twist your words?" Audrey stepped closer. "I saw you with my own eyes! What exactly am I supposed to twist? Should I pretend I didn't see what I saw? Should I smile and act like my husband hasn't been making a fool of me?"
David's jaw tightened.
"You're making this bigger than it needs to be."
Those words struck her harder than she expected.
Bigger than it needed to be?
She had given him her trust, her loyalty, and years of her life. She had built a home with him and raised their children beside him. Now he was treating his betrayal like a minor misunderstanding.
"How can you even support her at such a critical moment?" Audrey asked, her voice trembling. "Do you even understand what you've done to me?"
David looked away briefly, checking his watch.
That small gesture made her feel even more insignificant.
"I think you should just go to your room. We'll talk about this later."
"No! I don't want to talk about this later. Now is perfectly fine!"
"Audrey, don't start."
"Don't start what? Asking you to explain why you betrayed me? Asking you why the man I married suddenly thinks he can do whatever he wants and expect me to keep quiet?"
David let out a frustrated sigh.
"You're really getting on my nerves. I was very, very angry already."
Audrey's lips parted in disbelief.
He was angry?
She was the one who had discovered his affair, yet somehow he had managed to make himself the victim.
"What about me, David?" she asked quietly. "Have you even thought about how I feel?"
He said nothing.
"Have you thought about what this will do to our family? To our children? Or are you so busy protecting yourself that you've forgotten you have a wife and two children waiting for you at home?"
"Leave the children out of this."
"Why? Because you don't want to be reminded that your actions affect more than just you?"
"Enough, Audrey!"
His sudden shout made her flinch.
For a moment, the room fell silent. She looked at him, her eyes filling with tears, and searched his face for some sign that he still cared about the pain he was causing her.
She remembered the man who had once held her hands and promised that he would always protect her. She remembered the way he used to make her laugh, the way he would look at her as though she were the only woman in the world.
Where had that man gone?
When had the love she treasured become something he could treat so carelessly?
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
She stepped toward him and began hitting his chest with her palms, her movements driven by heartbreak rather than anger.
"How can you even say that to me?"
David caught her wrists briefly, but she pulled away.
"You are not my Dave! You are not the man I fell in love with!" Her voice cracked as she looked up at him. "Get me my Dave back!"
For a moment, she could barely breathe. She wanted him to say something-anything-that would reassure her that their marriage still meant something to him.
Instead, David looked at her as though she had become a problem he was tired of dealing with.
"Will you just stop all this crisis drama already?"
Audrey slowly lowered her hands.
Crisis drama.
That was what he called her pain.
She wiped her face, but the tears kept coming. She had spent so long trying to understand him, making excuses for his absence, his temper, and the growing distance between them. Whenever something went wrong, she had convinced herself that things would eventually improve.
Perhaps he was stressed because of work.
Perhaps he needed time.
Perhaps if she remained patient, the man she loved would find his way back to her.
But how much patience was a woman supposed to have before she finally admitted that she was the only one fighting for her marriage?
She looked at David again, hoping that the silence might have given him time to reconsider his words.
He merely picked up his phone.
Something inside Audrey quietly gave way.
"You know what? I've had enough."
David glanced at her.
"I tried to give myself hope that maybe, just maybe, you would change. I kept telling myself that things would get better, that the man I married was still somewhere inside you. But no." She shook her head, struggling to control her voice. "How could you even do this to me, David? After everything we've been through?"
He slipped his phone into his pocket.
"Are you finished?"
Audrey looked at him as though he had slapped her.
"Are you seriously asking me that?"
"I don't have time for this."
"Of course you don't." She gave a small, painful nod. "You never seem to have time when it comes to me."
She turned away, pressing her fingers against her forehead. Her mind was racing, and for a moment, she couldn't find the words to continue. She was tired of arguing, tired of crying, and tired of begging for the smallest amount of respect from the man who had promised to love her.
Then her thoughts shifted to her children.
Tessie and Charlie.
They didn't deserve to be caught in the middle of their parents' problems. They deserved a home where love wasn't just something people pretended to have when others were watching.
Audrey took a shaky breath and lifted her head.
"Tessy! Charlie!"
David immediately straightened.
"What are you doing?"
She ignored him and called again, louder this time.
"Tessy! Charlie!"
"Audrey, answer me!"
She turned to face him. Her cheeks were wet, and her eyes were swollen, but there was something different in her expression now. The fear of what might happen next was still there, yet it no longer seemed strong enough to keep her silent.
"What I should have done a very, very long time ago."
David stared at her, finally sensing that this was no longer an argument he could dismiss with a few impatient words.
"You wouldn't dare."
Audrey held his gaze.
"Then watch me."
She turned and marched toward the bedroom door.
"Audrey!" David called, following her into the hallway.
She didn't stop.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?"
He caught up with her and reached for her arm, attempting to pull her back.
"Let go of me!"
She twisted free and stepped away from him, her eyes flashing with anger.
"Don't you dare touch me ever again!"
Her voice rang through the hallway.
David stood still, staring at her. For years, Audrey had been the one who tried to calm their arguments, the one who forgave him when he disappointed her, and the one who kept believing that their marriage could survive anything.
He had mistaken her patience for weakness.
Now, as she stood before him, refusing to back down, he seemed unable to recognize the woman he had taken for granted.
Audrey's heart pounded against her chest. She didn't know what would happen after this moment, and she wasn't certain where she would find the strength to face it.
But she knew she couldn't keep living as though nothing was wrong.
She turned away from David and walked toward the staircase. Her hands were trembling, and tears still blurred her vision, but she forced herself to keep moving.
Then she drew a deep breath and shouted at the top of her voice.
"Tessy, Charlie, come here."
