Kathryne went to the St. Regis Hotel to surprise her fiancé, Leo, for his twenty-fifth birthday. She had a Patek Philippe watch in her hand, thinking she was the luckiest woman in the world. But when she pushed open the unlocked door to his suite, she saw him sweating on top of a blonde woman. "You promised you'd break up with that boring Kathryne after your birthday," the woman whined. Kathryne didn't cry. She snapped a photo of their tangled bodies, threatened to leak it to the press, and called off the engagement right there. She thought that was the end of her nightmare. But as she nearly collapsed in the hotel lobby, Leo's uncle, the terrifying and powerful Everett Carlisle, stepped out of the shadows. He chased Leo away, drove her home, and played the perfect, caring elder. He even convinced her strict father that she needed a fresh start, forcing her to sign an ironclad contract to be his personal assistant. Kathryne felt completely trapped. She had just escaped one suffocating relationship only to be handed over to a man who somehow knew everything about her-from her hidden claustrophobia to her secret stash of junk food. She thought she was just taking a demanding job to heal her broken heart. She had no idea that Everett had orchestrated the entire hotel betrayal just to break her engagement. She was running away from a cheating boy, completely unaware that she was walking straight into the meticulously designed cage of a patient predator.

My Ex's Uncle? My Secret Forbidden Affair Chapter 1

The heavy door to the presidential suite was slightly ajar.

Kathryne Sullivan paused, her hand hovering over the door handle. In her other hand, she held a sleek, dark blue box from Patek Philippe. Inside was the limited-edition watch she had spent months tracking down, a twenty-fifth birthday gift for her fiancé, Leo Carlisle.

A small smile touched her lips as she imagined the surprise on his face. They had been engaged for six months, and this would be the first birthday they celebrated together as a future married couple.

Her father, Daniel, had finally given them his blessing, and even the formidable Carlisle family had accepted her. For the first time, their future no longer felt like a distant promise, but something within reach, something she could truly believe in.

She pushed the door open.

The scent hit her first, a cloying mix of expensive perfume and spilled champagne. It wasn't Leo's usual scent.

The lights were dim, and the heavy curtains were drawn against the afternoon sun. A man's suit jacket was tangled with a woman's silk dress on the sofa. A pair of stilettos had been abandoned on the floor. As she moved closer, she saw pieces of men's and women's clothing scattered together nearby, the evidence of what had happened impossible to ignore. The air carried a lingering warmth, heavy with an unfamiliar intimacy.

Her heart gave a hard, painful thud against her ribs.

Then she heard it.

A soft, restrained sound came from the master bedroom.

For a moment, she forgot how to breathe. The warmth drained from her body, and a cold numbness spread through her veins.

She moved forward without realizing it, her body stiff, her footsteps nearly silent against the thick carpet.

The bedroom door was slightly open.

Through the narrow gap, she saw them.

Two figures tangled beneath the sheets of the bed she had personally chosen with him.

The man with the familiar blond hair was the one she knew better than anyone, her fiancé, Leo.

And the woman beneath him... Kathryne recognized her. Zoe Hayes, a starlet whose face was plastered on billboards all over the city.

"Leo, what if your uncle Everett finds out about us?" Zoe's voice was a breathy whisper, laced with a fake, childish worry.

Leo laughed, a sound full of contempt. "Forget that old fossil. As long as I keep Kathryne happy, the Carlisle fortune is mine. And having a general as her father is just another advantage."

The words shattered the last piece of Kathryne's hope.

The Patek Philippe box slipped from her numb fingers, landing silently on the plush rug.

A wave of humiliation and pain washed over her. Her body started to tremble, and black spots danced in front of her eyes.

But just as she was about to break, an ice-cold rage surged through her.

She took one slow, deliberate step back, melting into the shadows of the hallway.

Her fingers, white at the knuckles, fumbled in her purse for her phone.

She took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing her trembling hands to steady. She aimed the camera lens through the crack in the door.

She pressed record.

The small red dot glowed in the dim light, a single drop of blood promising revenge.

She adjusted the angle, making sure to capture both of their faces, their flushed skin, their sordid movements.

"But I heard Kathryne's health is poor," Zoe murmured again. "What if the shock is too much for her?"

Leo cut her off, his voice sharp with impatience. "She's a walking pharmacy. What can she do? Now be a good girl, and this quarter's endorsement deal is yours."

Kathryne recorded it all, her face a mask of stone.

Then she switched to photo mode.

Click. Click. Click.

A dozen clear, damning photos. Each shutter sound was another nail in the coffin of her foolish love.

She saved everything, placing the phone back in her bag with a calmness that felt alien.

She took one last look at the door; the love in her eyes burned to cold, gray ash.

She bent down, picked up the gift box, and turned away without a sound.

The shock was overwhelming, but she forced herself to stay composed. She walked to the elevator, pressed the down button, and focused on the next thing she needed to do.

The polished steel doors slid open, reflecting a face that was pale but unnervingly calm.

As the doors closed, sealing her away from that filthy world, the familiar sense of confinement slowly returned. The narrow space, the muted hum of the elevator, and the walls surrounding her made her fingertips tighten slightly around her phone. Only then did she notice the faint tremble in her shoulders.

She lowered her eyes, took a slow breath, and unlocked her phone.

She sent a message to Leo.

"Happy birthday. I have a gift for you. Check your email."

At the same time, she attached the video and photos to a new email addressed to his private account.

The subject line was simple.

"The End."

She pressed send.

When the elevator doors finally opened, Kathryne stepped out and crossed the glittering hotel lobby. She took a quiet breath, the tension in her chest finally easing as she walked into the open space.

From the shadows near a marble pillar, a tall, imposing figure watched her every move, his cold eyes locked on her back.
