For seven years, I have been the submissive commoner wife of Julian, the New York Mafia boss. When he finally realized what he had ruined and stabbed himself with a dagger, begging for my forgiveness, I simply turned and walked away. But while he was busy buying diamonds for his new mistress, the pressure of his emotional abuse caused me to lose our child. His mistress broke into my grandmother's hospital room and threw explicit photos of her and Julian in my grandmother's face. My grandmother died from shock. Julian knew nothing about this. "Go home, Sienna. You're pregnant. Stop making a scene, or I'll cut off your grandmother's medical bills tomorrow." When I found him, he arrogantly thought I was just throwing a tantrum. Shattered Vows: Marrying The Dark Don Chapter 1

For seven years, I have been the submissive commoner wife of Julian, the New York Mafia boss.

When he finally realized what he had ruined and stabbed himself with a dagger, begging for my forgiveness, I simply turned and walked away.

I endured his endless betrayals and cruelty for only one reason: he paid for my grandmother's life-sustaining treatment.

Stop making a scene, or I'll cut off your grandmother's medical bills tomorrow."

When I found him, he arrogantly thought I was just throwing a tantrum.

He didn't know our child was gone.

He didn't know that my grandmother had passed away.

In front of all his men, I poured a glass of whiskey over his head, left the signed divorce papers on his table, and then boarded a one-way flight to Germany.

I will leave him forever.

Chapter 1

Sienna's POV:

The divorce papers lay on the desk.

A dull vibration hummed against the polished wood; his phone screen lit up with a new message from his mistress: "Room 402. Don't keep me waiting."

He was the head of the Falcone crime family, a man who made grown men in New York tremble.

"Divorce? You can't be serious. Sienna, if you keep acting irrational," Julian warned, his voice dripping with condescension, "I'll stop paying for your grandmother's medical bills."

He hadn't even read the legal documents that would dissolve our seven-year marriage.

He picked up his phone, thumbs moving across the screen. I watched him type his reply, confirming his afternoon plans.

"What is it this time, Sienna?" he asked, his tone laced with arrogant boredom. "The house? A car? Jewelry? A trust fund?"

"I don't want anything," I said, my voice flat. "No offshore accounts. No car. No family assets. A clean break."

Julian let out a sharp, mocking laugh, leaning back in his leather chair.

"You don't want anything. Right. Like you didn't want anything when you threw a fit about me missing your OB-GYN appointment."

My face remained impassive at the mention of it.

"I was busy acquiring a new hobby," he confessed casually, a cruel smirk twisting his lips. "Buying a diamond necklace. You should see how it looks against her skin."

I thought of this morning, of finding the black lace panties hidden beneath the jewelry box.

His phone buzzed again – a FaceTime call. Vivian's photo lit up the screen.

I stepped forward, placing my palm flat over the screen, blocking his view. "Julian. Sign the papers."

He looked up and laughed, a full, arrogant sound.

"So, you are jealous. Honey, I know you're crazy in love with me. And I love you too."

"But, baby, I told you long ago, loving only you is just too boring."

"Enough of this game. Withdraw that ridiculous divorce petition, Sienna."

He stood, his tall frame casting a shadow over me.

"Do you know what happens to you without my protection?" he sneered. "You'll have nothing. You're pregnant. You can't leave me."

I stared at his chest, listening to his steady breathing. He was using my deepest vulnerabilities as weapons, which was entirely in character.

A silent, brutal truth echoed in my mind.

The baby was already gone.

The stress-induced miscarriage had happened three days ago.

"Your grandmother is dying. Leaving the hospital is a death sentence for her. Can you afford her care?"

So, he still didn't know. My grandmother was already dead.

I found I didn't have the strength to say the words aloud.

His phone vibrated insistently against my palm. Annoyed by the persistent buzzing, Julian snatched a pen from the desk.

"Fine. You want to make a point by signing? Here."

He scrawled his name hastily at the bottom of the page.

He was convinced I didn't have the guts to leave the mafia's protection. In his mind, this was just a pathetic ploy for attention from his civilian wife.

"I don't believe you'd dare divorce me. If this is some little game between us, fine, I'll play along."

"I'll be back by midnight," he said, grabbing his suit jacket. "Have dinner ready."

The office door slammed shut behind him.

I gathered the signed papers and dialed a secure number on my phone.

"He signed. Julian and I are divorced," I said. "I'm formally requesting a transfer to the Valentis' German operation."

My body was cold. I knew I was dead, a helpless spirit hovering above my own corpse in a cheap apartment. It was Christmas Eve, a day meant for warmth and family, but I died alone. Three days later, my six-year-old son, Leo, finally stopped thinking I was just sleeping. He called his billionaire father, Ethan Miller, begging for help. Instead of concern, Ethan' s voice was sharp and impatient, cutting through the silence. "What? Why are you calling me? Where's your mother?" He laughed harshly when Leo said I wouldn't wake up. "She's always sleeping. Or complaining. Tell her to stop being so dramatic." Leo pleaded, "No, Daddy, it's different. She's cold." But Ethan, fueled by his mistress Sarah's whispers, twisted his words into an accusation about money and a heating bill. He hung up, demanding I apologize to him myself. My son, heartbroken but determined, remembered Ethan's "magic feather pen" he believed could wake me. He braved the freezing city, walking for hours to his father's mansion, only to see Ethan with Sarah and her daughter, Chloe-a new, perfect family. Sarah, seeing Leo, poured scorn on him, calling me a "pathetic woman" and a "leech." When Leo defended me, calling her a "monster," she shoved him, causing him to hit his head and bleed. Then, she forced him to crawl through a doggy door, humiliating him, recording it on her phone. Ethan, manipulated by Sarah, saw not a hurt child, but a pawn I supposedly sent to make him feel guilty. When Leo stammered, "The pen... the one you use to wake Mommy up," Ethan was confused, but Sarah quickly steered him away, making him believe Leo was trying to steal her phone. Blind with rage, Ethan ripped off Leo's sweater, found nothing, and dragged him outside. "You will kneel there," he snarled, throwing my son into a snowdrift. "You will not get up until you tell me where the phone is and apologize for your lies." The feather pen, Leo' s only hope, was held hostage. My brave boy, shivering and bleeding, silently knelt in the snow as Ethan closed the curtains, returning to his party with Sarah.

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."
