For ten years, I was the invisible backbone of the Silver Creek Pack. I cooked the books to hide Alpha Ethan's gambling debts. I ghostwrote the peace treaties that kept our borders safe. I warmed his bed every night, waiting for the bite that would mark me as his Luna. On the night of our tenth anniversary, I didn't get a ring. I got replaced. Ethan walked into the gala with Ashley, a wealthy heiress dripping in gold, clinging to his arm. When I tried to speak to him, he didn't just ignore me. He used an Alpha Command-a biological weapon that hijacked my free will. "Go to the kitchen," he ordered, forcing my knees to hit the floor in front of the entire pack. "Ashley is sensitive to the smell of stress. You're ruining her night." He humiliated me in the house I helped build. He wore the crown I polished for him, thinking I was nothing more than a glorified housekeeper he could discard at will. He forgot that while he held the title, I held the passwords. I didn't go to the kitchen. I went to the office. I initiated a permanent wipe of the cloud backups, reformatted the local servers, and deleted ten years of financial strategies. Then, I snapped the mate bond and walked out into the rain. Three days later, I walked back into the conference room. Ethan laughed, thinking I was there to beg for my job back. I threw a foreclosure contract onto the table. "I'm not here to serve drinks, Ethan. I'm the new owner of your debt. Get out of my chair."

He Rejected Me, So I Married the Lycan King Chapter 1

You're ruining her night."

He humiliated me in the house I helped build.

Chapter 1

POV: Chloe

The bass of the music thumped against the floorboards of the Silver Creek Pack House, vibrating through the soles of my cheap heels. Ten years. That's how long Ethan had been Alpha. That's how long I'd been invisible.

I adjusted the sash of my dress. Charcoal grey. Practical. The uniform of someone who exists to serve, not to be seen.

Chloe, where are the appetizers for the Elders? The tray on the east table is empty.

Gamma Marcus's voice cracked inside my skull like a whip. The Mind-Link. Once, I thought it was a spiritual connection. Now, it was just a wireless shock collar.

I'm on it, I projected back, flattening my mental tone into perfect submission.

I grabbed a fresh tray of venison tartare-the Elders liked it bloody-and navigated the crowd. The ballroom reeked of pine, musk, and expensive cologne. To a human, it was a party. To a wolf, it was a screaming match of pheromones and ego.

Then I saw him.

Ethan stood near the fireplace. He wore the tuxedo like armor, sandy hair swept back, looking every inch the leader I'd helped build.

Hanging on his arm was Ashley.

She wore gold. Not just gold, but look-at-me gold, a gown that cost more than my annual stipend. She wasn't his Mate. I knew that. He knew that. But she was the daughter of a wealthy Beta from a European pack. She smelled like French perfume and old money.

I walked over, balancing the tray. "Ethan," I said softly. "The Elders are asking for a speech."

He didn't look at me. He was too busy tucking a stray curl behind Ashley's ear. Grooming. A sacred act. My stomach rolled over.

"Ethan?"

Ashley giggled, a sound like breaking glass. "Oh, look, Ethan. Your little housekeeper is here."

Ethan turned. His hazel eyes, usually warm when he wanted something, were flat.

Not now, Chloe, he commanded through the link.

But the Elders-

I used an Alpha Command, Omega!

The voice slammed into my brain stem. My knees hit the floor before I even realized I was falling. An Alpha Command isn't a request; it's biology hijacking free will. My wolf whimpered, paralyzed.

"Go to the kitchen," he said aloud, wiping a smudge of imaginary dust from his sleeve. "Ashley is sensitive to the smell of stress. You're ruining her night."

I stood there, the tray trembling. I had cooked the books to hide his gambling debts. I had ghostwritten the treaties that kept this pack safe. I had warmed his bed for a decade, waiting for the bite, the Mark, the promise.

"Did you hear me?" he snapped.

"I heard you," I whispered.

I set the tray down. I didn't go to the kitchen. I turned around and walked out the front door.

The rain was pouring down. Cold. Clean. I called the pack driver, but the dispatcher told me all cars were reserved for Ashley's luggage.

I walked to the edge of the territory, to the little bistro where I had reserved a table for two. Our anniversary. A joke only I was in on.

I sat alone. The waiter looked at me with pity. I smelled like wet dog and wasted time.

My phone buzzed. Instagram. Ashley.

The photo: Ethan, nuzzling her neck.

Caption: Finally, the Alpha returns to his Queen.

I didn't cry. I felt a click in my chest. Mechanical. Final. Like a breaker tripping in an overloaded house.

I wasn't waiting for him to love me anymore. I was waiting for the courage to stop being his doormat.

I opened my texts.

I am done.

Send. Block.

For three torturous years, I lived as a ghost in my own life. Haunted by the car crash I believed killed my sister, Savannah, and crippled her boyfriend, Ethan, I dedicated myself to his care. He was my tormentor, using my guilt as his chain. Then, one stormy night, I walked into a honky-tonk bar and heard the laughter. It was Ethan, boasting to his friends: "Three whole years she's bought it. Wiping my ass, feeding me like a baby, all because she thinks she crippled me." My world didn't just crack; it shattered when I saw him stand and dance. His paralysis was a lie. My three years of devotion, his meticulous act of revenge. He didn't stop there. He moved me to a dusty tack room, forced me to watch him replace my sister, and then, in a sadistic climax, lured me to a hunting cabin. There, he and his friends humiliated me, filming my terror. Broken, I faked my own death, escaping to Oregon, shedding my identity to become Anna. I found love and a future, finally breathing again. But fate has a cruel sense of irony. Ethan, now truly paralyzed by psychosomatic trauma triggered by my "death," was sent to a clinic in my new city. Our eyes met across a busy street, and his desperate cry, "Sarah!" tore through my new life. He tried to control me again, but I was no longer the girl he broke. Standing tall with the man I loved, I unleashed three years of silenced truth. "You killed Savannah," I declared, exposing his role in her desperation. "And the hunting cabin? You filmed that for amusement!" He stared, utterly defeated, as the truth of his monstrous acts finally consumed him. This time, I didn't run. I stood defiant, free, ready to marry the man who showed me what true love was. My past was behind me, and my own future, filled with quiet happiness, had just begun.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
