But when Rowan realizes she's gone, the game of power, revenge, and love is only just beginning.

Return of the Billionaire's Ex-wife. Chapter 1 One

I stared at him, my eyes getting misty, my heart hitting hard against my rib cage as my trembling hands gripped the lying pictures.

"Do you believe I did this?" I asked, my voice coming out in a whisper.

Rowan gave me no reply as he stared back at me, his eyes red, his face hardened.

"Isn't the evidence so obvious? "Why wouldn't he believe?" Rachel, Rowan's sister, answered for him. "Face it, Channel, you have been caught. I have always known that you are a whore, but I didn't expect you to keep chasing after men after being married to a man that loves you and accepts your problem." She scowled, eyeing me disdainfully.

"For Chrisake! This isn't me! "I didn't cheat on my husband," I screamed in a shrill voice filled with despair. "Rowan, I can't cheat on you; I don't take your love for granted." I cried out in dismay.

Something wasn't right. Someone had framed me. I was holding a picture of me in bed with another man.

"This can't be me? I don't know this man!" I said, frantically switching my gaze from Rowan back to his sister and then back to Rowan.

Walking towards Rowan, I raised my hands to hold his arms, but his cold warning made me flinch. "Don't you dare touch me." He growled, his voice sharp like the blade of a sword.

It sliced my heart. The coldness of his voice cut through my heart down to my soul, and unable to handle the pain, I crashed down onto my knees, sobbing softly as the tears that I was trying to push back now escaped my eyes.

"Sign those divorce papers and leave my house in less than thirty minutes." Rowan commanded, and without sparing me a glance, he walked unhurriedly with a bunched fist towards the elevator.

"Believe me. I didn't cheat on you." I cried out, clapping my hands together in a frenzy while calling out to my husband, who was walking away from the sitting room and, obviously, away from my life.

The event that was unfolding right before my eyes felt like a dream. This wasn't how I planned this evening to be.

I had come back home from the hospital hoping to share the good news of finally getting pregnant after three and a half years of childlessness, but on getting home, I was greeted by a furious husband and divorce papers.

"Sign those papers before he gets down; otherwise, you wouldn't like the state you will find yourself in if he should come back and meet you in his mansion." Rachel said before taking a gulp of the alcohol by her side.

Looking at her happy face, it was obvious that she had planned it. She had done something that resulted in me being in bed with another man.

I still couldn't understand what she had done because I had never gone out with her. Rachel and I were far from being friends.

She hated me like I was a plague. She found nothing good in me, and she didn't waste any moment to tell me that I was a good-for-nothing being.

Her brother, Rowan, who was my husband, was constantly against her behaviour toward me. He was my support, my devoted loving husband, and my backbone. He was everything I could ever wish for, but this evening, he was a different man.

A sharp sting of pain stabbed my heart, and I gripped my chest, howling out softly.

What was I to do? How was I going to free myself from this accusation? I had done nothing to deserve this. All I ever did was to love Rowan and hope that one day I would give him a child.

That one day was getting so close because I was presently carrying his baby, but I hadn't announced the good news to him.

Still weeping on the soft rug with my head bowed, the calm but heavy footsteps of Rowan made me raise my head.

I gazed at his towering figure with teary, pitiful eyes, hoping that he could see through me and believe me, but my hopes were dashed when he marched towards me, grabbed me by the hair, and forced my face down to the rug, making my eyes stare at the divorce papers, which Rachel had been kind enough to help drop on the rug.

"Sign this now!" He thundered.

"No," I refused, shaking my head, which was under his grip. "You have to listen to me; I didn't do..."

Crack!

A stinging slap landed on my face, blinding me for a few minutes.

"If you make me ask you to sign these papers again, I promise you, I'll snuff life out of you." Rowan threatened, pulling my head backwards so he could bark into my face.

Torrents of tears flowed down my eyes. Not from the pain of the slap but from the pain of knowing that it was my ever-loving husband that had slapped me.

Rowan had never raised his voice at me, not even to think of slapping me. For three years till this evening, I had been the apple of his eye, the woman he loved amongst every other woman in the world.

He saw me as a priceless jewel whose beauty couldn't fade and whose glow couldn't die.

What changed? I screamed in my head.

He shoved a pen into my hands, and with his hands on my neck, which was eager to squeeze life out of me, I couldn't help but sign those papers in fear.

"We are done. There's nothing between us again, not in this life, never in the afterlife. I regret the day I met you, and I totally regret not listening to my mother. I wish you could just die." Rowan spat at me, a bittered look on his face, which was scrunched up in disgust as he threw me and my luggage out of the gate of his mansion.

"Get ready to see my lawyer because I am going to make sure I take everything-every fucking thing you have, including your life, as compensation for betraying and cheating on me."

With a final and determined tone, Rowan said, "Get ready for your death in my hands."

As I lay on the floor of our manor, bleeding out from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, I used my last ounce of strength to call my husband, Cole. I begged him for help, my vision blurring. But the only thing I heard was the clinking of champagne glasses and his mistress's giggle in the background. "Stop the drama, June," Cole snapped, his voice cold. "We're about to go on stage. Don't call again." He hung up, leaving me to die alone on the Persian rug while he accepted an award with another woman on his arm. I woke up in the hospital days later. My baby was gone. They had removed my fallopian tube. Cole finally arrived, smelling of expensive scotch and his mistress's perfume. He didn't hug me. He didn't cry. Instead, he leaned over my hospital bed, pressing his knee into the mattress until my fresh stitches tore open and bled. "You embarrassed me by calling an ambulance," he hissed. "My mistress, Alycia, says you're faking it. Clean yourself up." He left me bleeding again to go announce a $10 million donation to Alycia's "groundbreaking" medical research. I stared at the TV screen, numb. The research Alycia was taking credit for? It was mine. I wrote that patent years ago under a pseudonym. They thought I was just a poor, orphan housewife who needed Cole's money to survive. They had no idea I was actually a billionaire scientist hiding my identity. I pulled the IV needle out of my arm. A drop of blood fell onto the divorce papers I had been hiding. I didn't wipe it off. I signed my name right over it. Then I walked into the bank, reactivated my dormant account with $128 million, and bought the penthouse directly overlooking Cole's house. The mourning widow is dead. The avenger is born.

Too Late For Regret: My Billionaire Husband

I was twenty-five weeks pregnant, sitting on a cracked plastic chair at the hospital, when my billionaire husband looked me right in the eye and called me "it." Ellsworth didn't recognize his own wife in my tight coat and swollen ankles; he was too busy shielding his mistress, Jolie, from the "messy cleaning lady" in the hallway. "Just ignore it," he told his assistant as I struggled to stand. "Close the doors. We’re running late for the gala." He left me there with a high-risk pregnancy diagnosis and a prescription I couldn't afford, while he drove off in a Maybach with a woman who had meticulously stolen my entire identity. When I returned to our cold mansion, the nightmare continued. His grandmother treated me like a breeding animal, and the housekeeper tried to starve me because Ellsworth said my weight gain was "embarrassing" to the family name. I soon realized the sick truth: Jolie wasn't just his lover; she was a mimic, wearing my old clothes and using my old hair tutorials to play the role of the woman I was before the Banks family broke me. How could a man who once promised to love me now treat me like a stain on his perfect life? Why was he keeping me trapped in a guest room while parading a fake version of me around the city? They thought I was a broken, penniless ghost with nowhere to go, but they forgot I was once the sharpest financial mind of my generation. While Ellsworth was busy playing house with a replica, I was secretly accepting a fully funded PhD and auditing his illegal shell companies from the shadows of his own home. He thinks he can keep me trapped in this marriage just to secure his trust fund. He has no idea that I’m not just leaving—I’m going to burn his empire to the ground before the baby is even born.
