PETALS OF LOVE

nsidered people. Leah let it go.Sam was now laughing. "I saw that you were in trouble, so I came to your rescue. That's exactly what I'm doing now."They both laughed. A laughter that had always been the bounding of their friendship. That same laughter is the one that speaks on behalf of their lips. That laughter that modifies their understanding of each other. When they laugh, they are calm, they're affirming that all will be fine. They laughed and laughed, not just for the story Sam just reminded Sophie about, but for their life-long stories together."Soph," Sam began, "It'll all be fine. I know." She stood up to sit very close to her. "Tell me now, what's popping?""Sam." Sophie looked as though she had seen a ghost. "Let's get real. I'm left with nothing, absolute nothing." "That shouldn't be a problem, Sophie. It's very easy to get a job as an intern. Who again is the latest graduate?" That last line was to cheer her up, but she was not having it."I'm not cool with affirmations and motivations." She looked away. "Where would I find a good internship job? How would I find it. This is not the perfect environment to get a good job." Her fears were currently catching up with her. She was about to cry.Sam said nothing she moved closer and gave her a big hug. She didn't ask her not to cry, in fact she was there to make the crying process easier. In a muffled voice Sophie said, "I'm tired, I'm just tired. And I'm trying not to, but I can't..."Sam wanted to say, "you can," but she didn't. She just pushed her closer to her self.In a few minutes, they were past that session as Sam would call it and she was relieved. In their friendship, Sam was the stronger one. She's that one who lives life like all was well. She was the one who'd act all strong. She hardly ever cried to Sophie, instead, she'd cry alone.Sophie was just the usual girl. You know how they say that you're capitalized on by your fears? Sophia was scared of crying and tears always caught up with her. There might be a toughness she exudes when she's alone, but that toughness melts away once she's speaking about the problem to someone she loves and is vulnerable to. People like Sam and her Mom. This list had ever increased, all her life."I'll talk to Justin, to see what he can do.""Would that make necessary?""What's he there for?" She laughed hard. "It Should be a walkover for him."Sophie wasn't sure what to say, do she said the next thing that came to her mind. "I miss you, so much.""Hmm, let me see if the feeling is mutual." They giggled."Sam." Sophie whispered, I'm sorry to be the one always bothering you with my problems. I know you also have yours, but you don't always come to me with them."She was serious, but Sam wasn't. "First, people's have love languages. This is definitely yours. Secondly, I have a man, do why stress you?" She Grinned stared at Sam. Always happy and bubbling, full of life. She saw the good in everything. If their lives were compared, Sophie taught that Sam had the very best."You know what?" Sam got up abruptly. "Let's take an evening walk It'll help a lot more then you know.Sophie sluggishly stood up as they both held hands and walked outside. Leah was the one still serving customers. Sam waved as they walked past her like five-year old girls. "Your Mom's not changed at all," Sam said."I met a guy today at the hotel."The town was alive, fully living. People were everywhere and car horns blasted from different direction. I'm Sophie's mind, it was the perfect environmental for theses sort of conversation. The distraction would weigh down the emotions."What is it about him?""He talked about how he could help me find a job.""Someone you don't Know?""I've seen him a lot at the hotel. He Sai his name Harry." Sophie frowned as though the name was annoying to pronounce. "He did I'll have to sign up and agree to terms and conditions, including moving to another country, if required.""That doesn't sound right. soph, you have to forget about him.""I think I will.""I'll be on Justin's neck for you. He'll do something.""Thank you, Samantha Grey.""You are welcome, Sophie Anderson."At the end of the next day, Sophie had two job offers. They weren't sleeping at the cafe this particular night. It was Thanksgiving weekend and many people either ate home or went to better restaurants. Leah and her daughter had silently walked home when it was twilight.Their home was a storey building that was box-shaped and had the exact shape of a house drawing. The ground floor was made of bricks, while the top was made of beautifully coloured woods. They reached the street and stopped by a store to get an air freshener. As they stepped into their home, fatigue rested on them. Sophie dropped the things she was carrying and climbed the wooden stairs to her bed-room. Upstairs, there were three bedrooms. Downstairs, there were the sitting room, the kitchen and dinning, a guest restroom and a store room.Leah watched as Sophie climbed the stairs. She was scared of loosing her daughter to what to her, doesn't matter. All of Sophie's life, she's never hesitated to share her fears or thoughts with Leah. Now Leah felt like she was gradually loosing Sophie. I'm still her Mom right? I can go talk to her, she's my little girl.Leah walked up the stairs slowly, making sure that Sophie doesn't hear her footsteps. She stood in front of her room for about four minutes, making sure that this conversation was the right one to have. She had never felt like this about Sophie since the day she gave birth to her.She tapped gently on the door."Mom?""Yes, Sophie it's
