My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

Please welcome a young visionary whose fast-growing company is taking over Geneva…. Laura Hale!” An elegant reporter announced, And everybody clapped with a hand of a plus.

A young beautiful business lady smiles at the camera. “Thank you, Lilith, you are making me blush” Laura smiled at her wonderfully.

“ Ah, flattering the Hale’s heiress. I can’t think of a better way to spend this Friday night” Lilith teased.

“ You truly are something Lilith” Laura was amazed.

“ So, tell us, Laura. Are the rumors true?” Lilith was back to business.

“The rumors?, Which rumors are you talking about?” Laura was confused.

“The tabloids say you have a mysterious secret about the Hale family. Do you mind telling us whether you are the true heiress of the Hales Enterprise or not?” Lilith was curious.

“Oh Lilith, I will never take you for a gossipy type!” Laura brushed it off.

“We all just want to know, Laura. Tell us about your secrets, did the Hale family adopt you?” Lilith insists.

“Well, there’s actually no secrets at all, not the one I know of….?” Laura was plain.

Meanwhile, bag stage….

“what is she talking about?!, This is a big disaster. That means Miss Laura hasn’t heard about all the rumors that have been spreading around, oh God this is bad” Josephine cursed out loud.

“I don’t think we are in the right position to tell the boss that her sister Meredith is dragging her name to the mud, it might only cause more harm than good.” Daniel was worried too.

“I know, I know. You’re right” Josephine agreed with Daniel. “ but this is really bad news for her. Upon all the hard work to keep this Enterprise growing, they just want to frustrate her just like that” Josephine was disturbed.

“Yeah, these will really break her down when it comes to her notice. She will be so worried to know she isn’t likable enough by the family she thinks she has” It was Daniel who cursed.

“Why would anyone on Earth not like a wonderful and hard-working lady like Miss Laura, who on their right mind would even choose Meredith over her?” Josephine cried out.

“Josephine, forget the rumors that she’s not a legitimate child, that is not the point because it doesn’t count. She can still be the CEO of this Enterprise even if that was the case… I’m curious, there must be something else to it!” Daniel said.

For some time, Laura escaped the interview she had. walking towards her office

“Josephine, do I actually have a free evening? No meetings or interviews ?” Laura asked packing some files on her table.

“Well ma’am, Mr. George calls you all day… and you also have a meeting with the producer” Josephine quickly replied, still standing in front of her boss lady.

“Is this the same George from last time!?” Laura asked still concentrating on a file.
