Untold The Dark Story Of Everwood

The Ghost Wife's Billion Dollar Tech Comeback

The Ghost Wife's Billion Dollar Tech Comeback

Huo Wuer
Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

In the heart of a lush, green valley lay the village of Everwood, a place where nature and humanity danced in harmony. Tall trees swayed gently in the breeze, casting dappled shadows on the cobblestone streets below. Houses with thatched roofs dotted the landscape, each adorned with vibrant gardens that burst forth with color in the spring. Yet, it was not the picturesque surroundings that beckoned the villagers together; it was the whispers of the ancient Everwood Forest.

Legend spoke of the spirits that roamed the depths of the forest, guardians of the land who communicated through echoes-the soft whispers that floated through the trees, carried by the wind. It was said that those who listened closely could hear the stories of their ancestors, tales of bravery, love, and loss echoing through time.

Ellie, a bright-eyed girl with an insatiable curiosity, often found herself drawn to the edge of the forest. From the safety of her garden, she would gaze at the towering trees, the way they seemed to sway in rhythm, as if beckoning her closer. The stories told by Mr. Grayson, the village's lorekeeper, ignited a spark within her. She longed to discover the truths hidden beneath the layers of myth, to understand the very essence of what made Everwood so enchanting.

But as Ellie approached her twentieth birthday, a shadow fell over the village. An unsettling silence enveloped the streets, punctuated only by the murmurs of worried villagers. One by one, friends and neighbors began to vanish, leaving behind only fading memories. The echoes grew restless, warning of a darkness lurking within the heart of the the village.

Ellie felt a growing sense of urgency; she couldn't shake the feeling that the key to unraveling the mystery lay within her own history. With each disappearance, the enchanting charm of Everwood began to wane, replaced by an undercurrent of fear. Determined to uncover the truth.

Ellie sought out the wisdom of Old Marla, the village herbalist, known for her extensive knowledge of Everwood's folklore. She found Marla tending to her garden, surrounded by vibrant herbs that seemed to thrive even in the dimming light. "Child, you seek answers, don't you?" Marla said, her eyes sparkling with ancient knowledge. Ellie nodded, recounting the unsettling events and her fears for her friends.

"The forest holds many secrets," Marla warned." Legends speak of a spirit that guards the realms between light and dark. It is said that when balance is disrupted, the spirit awakens, and with it come shadows that consume the light." "What can I do?" Ellie asked, desperation creeping into her voice.

"You must journey into the Whispering Woods at the heart of Everwood before the next full moon," Marla instructed. "There lies an ancient well that may hold the key to restoring harmony. But be cautious-the woods are alive, and not all who wander return."

Equipped with courage and a vial of Marla's protective herbs, Ellie set off towards the Whispering Woods as twilight cast elongated shadows across the land. The air was thick with anticipation, and the trees loomed like sentinels watching her every move. As she ventured deeper, the whispers of the woods intensified-some voices were familiar, others chillingly foreign.
