"She thought she hired an obedient, five-thousand-dollar-a-month construction worker. She had no idea he was the ruthless Wall Street emperor who had been secretly obsessed with her for fifteen years." On the eve of finalizing her high-society wedding, an anonymous text led Alayna straight to her penthouse bedroom-where she caught her fiancé naked with his assistant. Disgusted, Alayna smashed a wine bottle over his skull, threw her ring in his face, and walked away. But minutes later, a near-fatal car crash in the freezing rain left her trapped in a burning wreck. When she woke in the hospital, her father offered no comfort. He coldly demanded she crawl back and beg her cheating fiancé for forgiveness to save the family merger. When she refused, he froze her bank accounts to $0.00, while the Harris family threatened to crush her startup game studio. Desperate to claim her late mother's trust fund and escape her toxic family, Alayna made a reckless decision. She proposed a strict, one-year contract marriage to Cruz-the scarred, quiet construction worker who had pulled her from the burning car. "Deal," he said. To Alayna, he was just a gentle, broke laborer who fixed her plumbing and gave her crumpled twenty-dollar bills for groceries. But behind the dust and the worn flannel, her new husband was Augustine Cleveland-the lethal, masked billionaire who commanded global empires from the shadows. And he had already initiated total scorched-earth protocols against every single person who had ever made his wife cry.

"Alayna, your fiancé was literally just on top of me, telling me my body is way hotter than yours. He acts like such a saint in front of you, but once he's in my bed, he's like a wild beast-holding me down and he just wouldn't stop."

The text lit up Alayna's phone, followed by a photo.

On the screen was Lauren-the assistant Alayna had pulled from poverty and funded through college-lying bare-shouldered in bed, smiling into the camera. Beside her lay Jordon Harris, heir to the multibillion-dollar Harris real estate dynasty and Alayna's fiancé of three years, bare-chested and lounging lazily against the pillows, with one arm wrapped possessively around Lauren's waist.

Alayna had been pouring all her strength into working for their future. Even after an exhausting eighteen-hour shift on Madison Avenue that left her completely drained, she had still been clutching the finalized wedding seating charts, eagerly planning the life they were supposed to share. But receiving that message sent a suffocating chill spreading through her chest. Stricken by utter disbelief, her mind screaming that it had to be a mistake, Alayna rushed home in a daze.

The moment she unlocked the front door and pushed it open, a reckless, breathless trail of intimacy lay scattered across the hardwood floor. Near the entryway shoe cabinet lay Lauren's high heels, kicked against the baseboard in frantic haste. Further down, Jordon's suit jacket was slung carelessly across a chair. Past the guest bathroom, a silk camisole and an unbuttoned dress shirt lay tangled together on the floor, leading straight into the master bedroom.

Seeing the trail of clothes, every overlooked coincidence suddenly clicked together. Whenever Jordon went on business trips, Lauren had always conveniently taken time off, their social media IP locations and photos quietly matching the exact same luxury hotels. Alayna had questioned it once, only to dismiss it in the name of trust. And now, that blind trust had led straight to the end of the hallway-where the master bedroom door stood half-open.

Alayna pushed the door open.

On the bed, the movement stopped.

Jordon opened his eyes and sat up, pulling the sheet over his lap. When he saw Alayna standing in the doorway, he froze for a second, then exhaled slowly, his expression quickly hardening into annoyed, entitled composure. Beside him, Lauren pulled the blanket up to her bare collarbones, watching Alayna with wide, innocent eyes that barely concealed a gleam of satisfaction.

"Alayna," Jordon said, rubbing his face. "Wait. Let me get dressed, and we can talk."

Alayna stood in the doorway, looking at them with cold disgust. "Talk about what, Jordon? Calling off our engagement?"

Jordon scoffed, looking at her with a mix of irritation and disbelief. "Calling off the engagement? Don't be ridiculous, Alayna. Listen, it was just a stupid mistake, alright? I had too much to drink, and things just happened. But you're never home-you've been living at your office for weeks. What did you expect a man to do?" He waved a hand dismissively. "Lauren doesn't mean a damn thing to me. You're the one walking down the aisle with me in four weeks. Both our families have invested everything into this wedding-you're not throwing away our marriage over something this meaningless."

From the bed, Lauren pulled the sheet tighter, her voice trembling in calculated innocence. "Miss Smith, please... don't be mad at Jordon. It was my fault. He was lonely, and I just wanted to be there for him... Men have needs, Miss Smith. Please don't throw away your engagement over me..."

Alayna looked right at Lauren.

"You're not a victim, Lauren," Alayna's voice was dead calm. "You're a parasite who used the key I gave you to crawl into my fiancé's bed. Put your clothes on and get the hell out of here before I call security."

Jordon's temper flared. He threw on a silk robe from the foot of the bed and stood up.

"That's enough, Alayna! Stop taking it out on her. I already told you, she means nothing! Your father won't let you call off this marriage either, and your company won't survive without my help. Stop making a scene!"

Alayna looked at him. The man she had spent three years with was nothing more than a stranger.

Without another word, she slid the three-carat engagement ring off her finger and flung it hard right at Jordon's chest, letting it strike him sharply before bouncing to the floor.

"The wedding is off," she said quietly. "Keep the ring, Jordon. Give it to Lauren. You two deserve each other."

At those words, a flicker of hidden delight flashed across Lauren's eyes before she quickly concealed it.

She turned on her heel and started back down the hallway.

"Alayna! Wait!" Jordon shouted after her.

Behind him, Lauren scrambled out of bed with the sheet clutched around her, racing into the corridor. "Miss Smith, please! Don't do this because of me-"

Lauren lunged forward, grabbing Alayna's forearm.

Alayna yanked her arm back with sharp, decisive force.

Lauren seized the moment, deliberately throwing her weight backward onto the polished floorboards in an exaggerated display of agony. She hit the floor with a loud thud, curling into a fragile ball and wailing in feigned distress.

"Ah-my wrist!" Lauren wept dramatically, squeezing her eyes shut while peeking to check Jordon's reaction from under her trembling lashes. "Jordon, it hurts so much... I think it's broken... but please don't be angry with Miss Smith... She's just furious right now. If hitting me helps her calm down and let her anger out, then she can hit me as much as she wants..."

Jordon rushed out of the bedroom and gathered Lauren protectively into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest, his face livid as he glared down the hall. "Are you insane, Alayna?! You assaulted her!"

Alayna didn't stop. She didn't look back. She simply smoothed the sleeve of her coat as if brushing off dirt.

She walked out the front door, let it latch firmly shut behind her, and took the elevator down to the lobby. Outside, the cold autumn rain struck her face, and she stepped straight into the storm.
