Antara's Pov

"Due to some unforseen circumstances,we are very sorry we have to retrench some workers"The manager announce loudly and all of us sat properly to listen attentively to the announcement.

"Here are the list of retrench workers, Antara,Eva and every other male workers except the supervisors"

"What!"We all scream in shock and surprise,we are suppose to be among the last workers to be retrench but here we are as the first set because of our dedication at work.

I stood there like a bloated goat and turn slowly to Eva,a tear slip down my face and Eva smile sadly.

"But why should we be among the part of workers to be retrench despite our commitment to our job"David,one of the retrenched workers protest and the manager sighed.

"I'm so sorry,David, there's nothing I can do,it's the Management decision"

"The management decision?"He scoffed and shook his head slowly before walking out of the conference room.

"Let's go"Eva mumbled and grab my hand before walking out of the room.

I burst into tears immediately we got into the room,Eva pull me into a passionate hug and I carried on her shoulders.

"How am I going to cope?"I whisper and she pat my back softly.

"Everything is going to be fine,it's well Antara,God will provide another job for us,don't worry okay"

"Okay,thanks"I smiled and pull away from the hug.

We pack our dresses and every other things in the restaurant before walking out of the room,Nana bump into us and she smirk devilishly.

"So,the most devoted workers in the restaurant are finally gone without any compensation"She said taunting us and I sighed.

"Please leave the way for us,we aren't in the mood to exchange words with you"Eva said calmly and she laughed.

"So sorry about your misfortunes dear"She said forming a sober fave and we walk out of her immediately.

She's one of the lazy workers who always get favoured because of their mischievous lifestyle.

She's such a desperate girl who offers her body to any rich customer who patronizes us and this made us dislike her a lot,she uses every opportunity to pick on us in the restaurant but we do ignore her most of the times.

Only God knows how she was able to escape the retrenchment.

After I and Eva departed,I walk down the quiet path to our compound with a heavy heart, I wonder how mum is going to take the news.

I held the knob and turn it slowly pushing the collapsible door in.

I met mom picking beans in the old living room.

She look up and was surprised to see me.

"Antara.... " she called not knowing what to say and I rush to hug her, I burst into tears in her chest and she cooed me gently.

"What's wrong Antara "She asked and I look up at her.

"I am fired" I said tearfully and she gasped.
