When I arrived at the kindergarten, the event had already started.

The playground was filled with a mix of shouts from both adults and children.

"What are they competing in now? The family race hasn't started yet, has it?" I asked.

"It has started. This is the family race." The teacher answered.

Due to a last-minute meeting at work, I was late for the family event of my son, Nick Reed.

My husband, Isaac Reed, had called me twice, and his tone wasn't pleasant.

He said, "Emma, if you can't make it on time, then don't bother coming at all."

It seemed Isaac had forgotten that ever since Nick started kindergarten, I had been the one accompanying our son to most of activities.

As for Isaac, he was either too busy with work or traveling for business.

This time, for the first time ever, he decided to join Nick for the family event, which caught me off guard. I thought he wanted to make an effort for our family.

But when I saw the scene before me, I realized Isaac had no intention of mending things with me.

Instead, he wanted to use this family day to play the role of a loving couple with his long-lost love, Lucy Martin.
