Tiffany tugged effortlessly at the hem of her dress hoping the action will make it a little longer.
"I don't know why I let you talk me into wearing this ridiculously short dress" She muttered.
"Would you stop making a fuss and sit still, it makes you look sexy" Riley, her best friend replied.
Tiffany looked down at the short red dress. It clung to her body like a second skin accentuating her little curves and showing off her gorgeous long legs.
"I feel like a bimbo." Tiffany said.
"You look hot Tiff, now stop complaining, we're out to have a good time." Riley told her while turning to scan the dimly lit bar.
Tiffany followed suit, watched people laughing and dancing to the music that was humming softly in the background. Then she saw him.
It was as if everything else faded and it was just the two of them in the bar. He was seated alone at the bar, facing the opposite way, scanning the room.
He had a sharp jawline, his hair was dark and thick with hints of grey. His lips were drawing her in with every sip he took of his drink. Riley was saying something, but her voice had faded into the background.
Riley nudged her and followed her gaze.
"Who is that beauty of a man?" She whispered.
Tiffany didn't answer. She was tongue tied. Just then, he looked up and caught her staring. He smiled a knowing smile that sent a flush from her cheeks all the way to her toes. She instantly looked away.
"Go talk to him" Riley urged, noticing Tiff's interest.
"No way in hell." Tiff said, " What am I gonna say?"
" Well, you could tell him he looks smoking hot" Riley said with a grin.
Tiffany's eyes widened "Are you insane?"
"What's the worst that could happen?" Riley asked.
"For starters he looks way older than me and he could think I'm literally insane." Tiff answered.
"Live a little Tiff, worst case scenario he ignores you and you never have to see him again."
"Besides," Riley added with a smile "I think he is a little bit interested in you."
"Fine. I can't believe I'm about to do this." Tiff said while she stood up.
As she turned, she bumped into someone, spilling her drink on the person.
"I'm so sorry." She begins to say looking up. It was him.
Mortified, she tries to clean the mess of his shirt while muttering an apology. Her fingers brush across his hard chest and for a split second they lock eyes. She is lost again.
"Don't worry, it's fine. I was about to leave anyway." He says breaking eye contact.
Her heart was beating loudly and she was scared he could hear it.
"Sorry for bumping into you." He said, looking directly at her. That moment, Tiff forgot how to breathe.
Tiff turned to the table, flustered and Riley was practically buzzing.
"I can't believe that just happened."
Tiffany couldn't answer her, she just sat there mind spiraling, heart racing and her body tingling in an unfamiliar way.
She scanned the bar. He was gone.
Back at the hotel that night, she fell asleep thinking of him.
.....
The next evening, she bumped into him again.
"We really have to stop meeting like this." He said with a grin.
Tiffany blushed "I'm such a klutz" she says.
"Well, no major harm. We all good."
Tiffany made a move to leave, he touched her arm. His touch was electric.
