I stood by and l like listened as Quaid and Luis bantered back and forth
And I knew one thing for sure was that I couldn’t let Quain take the wrath for what my father did. He had a right to know the truth. My father, the sick bastard, was a whore, one I’d never look up to or be like.
I blurted out the truth, the truth that no one had expected, especially Luis.
“No, mine did after she had his son, of course.
Luis’ eyes snapped at mine. “Excuse me, you what?!”
“You don’t have to do this, Danon.” Quaid said, sympathetically.
“I do, this has nothing to do with you, but my father.” I looked at Luis who was standing, confused.
“It happened a long time ago, Luis. I don’t remember very much, to be honest. My father wanted your father gone. Your mother was everything to him and she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
His men had instructions to kidnap her and bring her to him. I don’t know all the details. My mother never chose to disclose them. She was too scared of what he’d do to her. I’d seen the bruises and broken bones as I grew up from her giving her opinion but she stated her silence through it, all the screaming and begging it to stop.
The next thing I knew was a baby’s cries and a loud bang. I’m sorry Luis, he killed her after she gave him a son, someone he could mould into how he wanted.”
His face was full of fire and I couldn’t blame him. My father had taken his mother away from him and we’d gained a bastard for a brother.
It all happened so fast that before we could comprehend what was going on, the door blew, and gunshots echo through the abandoned building when I knew it was to get out of there. I pressed a button sending a SOS out to the only person I could trust to get out of there: my baby brother Àngel, let’s hope he got here before I got shot and got taken down. I had to move fast to get out and to the helicopter that would pick me up. I looked around and the place was full of smoke and I was coughing. My eyes were burning and watering.
Chace was the first down shot in the arm, leg, then the heart, and Quain the second. He took more hits than Chance, bleeding. I had to get out o
The last two shots went through his spine and the skull, his body drooping to the ground. I tried to watch to see if they were alive or not but I couldn’t see a damn thing.
I looked around the guy who was always with Amy was untying her this was the perfect time for me to escape before they realised I had.
I crouched down on my front pushing forward with my elbows and feet scurrying out like I was on an army assault course going under the netting.
The smoke was engulfing the abandoned building. Once I was finally out I scurried away. There was a tracker in the helicopter so it could pick me up, my moments and my location.
I ran to the field knowing no one would be using it today as college was already out for today.
I heard the helicopter coming. God, I hope they get here before anyone notices that I’m gone. The main rotor blades rotated the wind gushing around me. I moved my hair out my face as the helicopter got closer.
My younger brother grinned at me. “Get in D, we can’t stick around it’s too risky.”
I couldn’t agree more with that. I hauled myself up onto the loading skids and held the handle of the door as the helicopter lifted up off the ground. I slid in and sat down on the passenger seat, sliding the door shut and putting in the headphones to talk to my brother.
Ángel
I hadn’t seen Danon for four years now we haven had the best relationship this far, but he’s my bigger brother and I look up to him our father and dam on don’t see eye to eye he said he’ll tell me one day when I’m old enough to understand. All I know is my stepmother detests me, why I have no idea. My father has brought us both up to respect him and if we get a beating it’s all for good reason, I’m starting to wonder. Danon has suffered more than I ever have dad reckons Danon needs to be taken down a peg or two, but I reckon he’s a kindred spirit and all his anger is kept deep within all that pent-up anger, but one day he’ll use up all that pent up anger and destroy our father for all the shit he’s put us the right and I’ll be right there with him, alongside him, watching his back and protecting him like he’s protected me for as long as I can remember.
“Thanks for coming to get me Ángel. Any longer there wouldn’t be anything left of me but blood, and guys.”
“What have you done this time D?”
“It’s a long story. So I’ll cut it short. I need to get the fuck out of France so far that no one will be about to trace me.”
“Who are we talking about D? It’s got to be someone pretty fucking important and royally pissed off at you if we’re jumping the border.”
“They are if they find me, I will have to fucking explain what I let out the French mafia ain’t no fuckin joke Ángel.”
“True point. Damn D you’ve not yourself into some shot this time. Lucky it’s me and not dad.”
“Don’t ever say that man’s name in my presence.”
