"Last three laps, Red, "I said to myself. This was a very good day. I had made the first cut, I was at the top of the leaderboard, and this race would determine who would win it all.I stepped on the gas pedal and felt the car pick up speed. I can barely contain myself. My heart is racing in time, I can hear the roar of the crowd in my ears and I don't know how I'm going to make it through the finish line. But as always, it's going to be alright.
The car swerved and I nearly lost control. It's only when I look behind me and see a white Ferrari coming directly towards me that I realize what happened.
I quickly pulled out of the turn lane, but I can already see red lights flashing from the Ferrari's headlights. I hit the brakes hard and slammed on my breaks.
The tires skid in the dirt, and my body was thrown back against the seat belt. I try desperately to keep my car from flipping over.
I managed to hold it together, but just barely. When I finally stop spinning, I can still hear screaming from the crowd again. I smirked and stepped on the gas pedal again to accelerate my speed. I saw the flag waving when I reached the last 2 laps.
My eyes were glued to my screen counting down to my final lap. Just one more lap, then it ends. I can practically taste the adrenaline coursing through my veins, and my heart is pounding in my chest. We're there, we're almost there...Just one more lap.I glance at the clock. 10 seconds to go...10 seconds...10 seconds...and we're there. My hands tremble as I clutch the handlebars, ready to launch into the final lap.
I press harder on the gas and the crowd cheers when I reach the finish line. I take a moment to catch my breath. Then I slowly climbed out of my car. My hands are shaking so much I need a paper towel to wipe them off. There was some applause and cheers, but mostly they were just yelling for my name. I give them a quick wave and then start walking away. I have a feeling this isn't going to be my best year yet.
My team and my staff ran towards me and celebrated my victory. I heard a loud sound slamming on the car's door. I saw Einah Torres, my rival, who always won 2nd place. She was standing nearby with her arms crossed, glaring daggers at me.
I looked away and acted like I didn't notice it. I smiled at my team and my staff, until the announcers called my name to receive the trophy. I climbed on the small platform and lifted the golden trophy above me.The crowd roared once more and I felt the adrenaline rush through my veins again. After receiving the trophy, I rushed back happily to my team and until my manager broke the loud noise .
"Congratulations on winning your championship. I am expecting that you will throw a victory party, " he said. I smiled widely at him.
"In the usual bar, I will treat you to all kinds of drinks, 9P.M. see yah! " I said before leaving them.
I walked briskly to our car parked outside of the stadium. I got in and took the driver's seat, and started the engine up.I knew Einah Torres had been watching me, but she didn't say anything. She seemed angry at something, but whatever it was, I wouldn't ask about it. We're not that close. Remember we're rivals. As soon as I put the car in drive, I began to drive home.
I immediately changed my outfit into a two-string top, ripped jeans and sneakers. I put some light make-up on and brush my hair before going downstairs. I took my phone out of my purse to check if there were any messages, and found one that said
'Congratulations'.
It was from my brother Randy .
I smiled and quickly typed back.
'thank you. :)'
Then I got into the car and drove to the bar that we usually meet up at for drinking. As the car rolled down the road, I couldn't help but smile. It was hard work, but it pays off every time. And every now and again, I get that chance to win a game, and I love that feeling.
I parked the car in front of the bar and I walked inside. The music was blasting, and people dancing to their heart's content.I climbed up stairs to see my team in the V.I.P room. They looked happy when they saw me.
"Hey, guys" I said and sat next to Danny, my manager. He gave me a big hug, followed by everyone else congratulating me.
"I told you I'd win the championship." Everyone laughed. We clink our bottles of beer together,
"To Red!" he shouted.
"To Red!" Everyone repeats back.We spend the rest of the evening laughing, joking around and enjoying each other's company.
Even though we have never really talked or gotten along, I can't deny that we work well together.
"I like your outfit, girl," he whispered. He looked at me from head to toe. I just giggled, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the dance floor.
"Hey, Danny, slow down, " I said. I saw his cheeks were red. He was already drunk.
" Come on, girl, let's go and hunt with those handsome faces. " he said naughtily. I laughed and let myself be dragged on to the dance floor.
We danced in sync, until I bumped into someone. I can't see Danny his whereabouts .
I looked at who I bumped into, but I couldn't recognize him. The man was wearing a leather jacket, a gray shirt and dark blue jeans. His black hair was slicked back, he was tall and broad. I smiled at him, I started to dance closer to him, when suddenly he pulled me onto him. He was strong, stronger than me.
His arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer. I could smell his fresh minty breath. I was shocked. How dare he touch me, I thought to myself. I feel my head spinning and I feel nauseous.
I feel weak.
My legs were weak and I felt dizzy. Suddenly, I could no longer move. He leaned down and kissed my lips and I couldn't help kissing him back. He pulls away and smiles at me. My stomach drops and my head is spinning. "At my place. " he whispered. I nodded numbly. He grabs his car keys and we walk towards the exit.
