CHAPTER ONE- WHEN LOVE TURNS ROTTEN

 ~ LUCY'S POV~

 "What the fuck do you want from me, woman!"

Dave demanded, his voice laced with anger.

 "I just want us to talk. Can't we have a normal conversation like a couple?" I replied.

 "I don't have time for this," he retorted.

 "I'm trying to sleep and you're disturbing me."

 "But this is important." I insisted "My test results are back, and the doctor said..."

 "Are you pregnant?" he interrupted, his tone indifferent. "That's the only thing that matters to me now"

 "No I'm not, but the results indicated why I'm struggling to conceive" I responded.

 "I'm not interested," he said turning away.

"Really, Dave? You're not interested in listening? Even after the results revealed I have gastric cancer and its stage IV. The doctor warned that getting pregnant would be extremely challenging, if not impossible? And I have less than three months to live." I said, struggling to hold back tears.

 "Well that's your problem" he shouted. "If you have cancer, you go fucking treat it and leave me the fuck alone! I don't know why everything about you is so complicated."

 I shot back. "And whose fault is it that I have this cancer in the first place? Each time I complain about a stomach ache, your mom always tells me it's because I'm too sensitive. She was the reason I couldn't detect the early signs of the cancer, she's always overreacting when I mention my sym..."

Before I could finish, Dave's expression turned furious, and he slapped me across the face.

 "How dare you bring my mother to your problems," he shouted.

 "You know what? You don't even deserve to be in this room right now. Get out- I've had enough of your rubbish," he said, pushing me off the bed with such force that I fell and collapsed on the floor.

 ~ DAVE'S POV~

 I pushed her off the bed, and a sudden silence fell over the room. Looking down, I saw her lying motionless on the floor.

"Did she just collapse?" I thought to myself, annoyed.
