Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

April Greene glanced through the mirror and stared at her reflection. She was already dressed for another interview today. It was really difficult for her to get a job, it was not as if she was lacking, infact she had a perfect resume coupled with her good grades yet she had been unable to get a job. She looked at the bracelet on her hand before taking a deep breathe to prepare herself. She tied her hair into a ponytail, took her bag and left the house. The day was bright and clear. 'Maybe today is a good day for me.' She thought. She brought out her phone when she heard it ring. It was her best friend calling,she smiled as she picked the call.
"Ready for today's interview?" Mandy asked.
"Yes." She knew the reason Mandy called, to assure her that she would pass today's interview.
"Do you remember what the fortune teller said yesterday? He said today was your lucky day so that means you will definitely get a job today so don't be nervous and just give it your best, huh?" Mandy said reminding her friend about what the fortune teller had foreseen.
"He better be right, i paid two hundred dollar to that man all because you forced me to." April had never for once believed in fortune telling neither did she believe in fantasy nor anything supernatural. She believed they were all lies fabricated to deceive mankind. Her bestfriend had dragged her to a fortune telling house to foresee her future and the said fortune teller had told them that she would get a job today.
"He has never been wrong. Don't worry, I'll buy you chicken and beer to celebrate your new job, okay?" Mandy quickly retorted,knowing her bestfriend didn't believe in all these things, she had to force her to the fortune telling house because they also foresaw that she would get a job and here she was working in one of the prestigious company in the country, she just wanted to help her bestfriend's predicament.
"I'll call you later, my boss is coming." Mandy said before ending the call.
