Rania stepped into the living room of their extended family home. The aroma of cooking and the laughter of the guests filled the room. After years abroad, she felt a little awkward among a crowd of people she didn’t know well.

“Rania?” the voice drifted softly to her ears.

She turned and saw Daniel standing in the doorway, wearing a black shirt that accentuated his sturdy body. Rania’s eyes widened. “Daniel? How long has it been since we’ve seen each other?”

Daniel smiled thinly, approaching Rania. “Too long. I almost didn’t recognize you with your new look.”

Rania laughed lightly, feeling relieved. “You’ve changed just as much. So, how’s your life?”

“You know, it’s a bit complicated,” Daniel replied, looking at Rania with a meaningful gaze. “But that’s a long story. What about you? How’s life abroad?”

“Pretty good, but I miss home,” Rania said, looking around. “Missing the family atmosphere.”

Daniel moved a little closer, as if wanting to speak more personally. “Then, let’s talk further. Maybe outside?”

Rania nodded, feeling an unusual vibration. The two of them stepped onto the terrace, away from the crowd.
