Maya Petals stepped off the bus and into the winding road of the affluent neighborhood. She had been working for wealthy Chen family for a few weeks now, and the routine was starting to feel familiar. As she walked towards the grand mansion, she couldn't help but feel a pang of unease. The job was a means to an end, a way to provide for her younger brothers after their parents passing.

As she entered the mansion, Maya was greeted by the stern face of Mrs Chen."Good morning, Maya. I expect the living room to be spotless today. We have guest arriving soon."

Maya nodded and got to work, her mind wandering to her brothers and the stack of unpaid debts on her kitchen counter. She was so lost in thought that she didn't notice the figure standing on the doorway, watching her.

"Mother I'm home" A deep voice announced, breaking Maya reverie.

Maya turned to see Alex Chen, the Chen's son, leaning against the doorframe. His piercing gaze made her feel like an insect under a microscope. She quickly looked away focusing on the dusting.
