It was the beginning of summer in L City. The shrilling of cicadas grated on people's ears.
Somewhere, a Porsche sports car drove down from an overpass. However, a truck suddenly appeared in front of the car. The driver of the Porsche swerved to avoid the collision, but it hit the protective railing on the side instead. With a loud crash, the car billowed out white smoke.
It was a chaotic and hectic scene. The accident prompted the ambulance and medics to show up.
"Miss, can you hear me?"
A nurse looked anxiously at the woman on the stretcher. The woman's white dress was blood-stained due to the crash. The nurse was used to seeing all sorts of patients, but she still felt sorry for the fashionable young lady.
"Ouch. It hurts... My legs..."
The young woman's eyes were misty. She was dizzy and confused. Eventually, the strong smell of disinfectant woke her senses up.
The car accident, which had just transpired, made her suffer a lot. The immense pain that she felt was reflected in her eyes. When a doctor came in to check on her, she struggled and screamed, "My legs! Why can't I move my legs?! I don't want to stay here. I want to go home."
The outburst alarmed the doctor, so he called a nurse to help him. The two of them worked together to keep the woman on the bed and they injected her with a tranquilizer to ease her violent behavior.
The nurse carefully walked up to the bedside. She looked at the young woman who now had messy hair and clouded eyes. "Miss, you're in the hospital. You had a car accident, and your legs were seriously injured."
"Fuck off! Get out!"
Meanwhile on the national highway, a Bugatti Veyron car zoomed through the city. The driver, Jackson Murong, wore a high-end customized Armani suit. He took off his Bluetooth device and frowned. In the next minute, his face turned cold and a cruel smile slowly appeared. He stepped on the accelerator and sped up, leaving traces of smoke and tire scratches behind.
In L City, there was a famous and affluent community called the Downtown Garden. It was filled with all kinds of amusement facilities along with grand and luxurious villas. The place was simply astounding. Every villa was surrounded by huge lawns that made passers-by stare in awe. They couldn't help but praise the lavish area.
Right in the center of the Downtown Garden, there was a duplex villa that exuded a European charm and influence. On that day, the sound of a weeding machine emitted from its huge garden lawn. A beautiful and petite woman inside the villa stared out the window, seemingly lost in thought.
Suddenly, the phone in her pocket rang. Seeing the caller ID, a sweet smile appeared on her face. She answered the phone excitedly. "Allen, have you been busy recently? Me? I'm fine."
Her life in the Murong family had not exactly been smooth sailing, but they were the ones who adopted her. This kindness had been like a debt that she had to repay. It was a big family, but she handled most of the housework by herself. Her musing was once again interrupted. This time, it was the sound of tires that broke the rare peace.
Jackson Murong got out of the Bugatti Veyron angrily. His livid face showed fury and discontent. With a loud and harsh sound, he slammed the car door shut.
"Sherri Bai!"
Jackson Murong grabbed her wrist, his eyes burned with rage.
She didn't know what he was angry about. She stared at him blankly, struggling to get rid of his big hand. "What's wrong with you? I didn't do anything to you."
"I just came back from the hospital. Did you know that Bella's seriously injured? She's lying in the hospital right now. Tell me! Did you do it?" With an intense look of accusation, he dragged her into the villa.
"Let me go! Let me go!"
She felt terrible about what he was saying. Bella Murong was completely fine when she went out this morning. How could she be in a car accident? Her heart was in turmoil, so she kept shaking her head in denial. Seeing the man's unusual behavior, chills went through her whole body. Did he think she did it?
Jackson Murong dragged Sherri Bai to the living room on the first floor. Fueled with anger, he mercilessly grabbed her neck. Her fair skin made him pity her briefly, but he was still mad. "Who do you think you are? You're just a servant in the Murong family. Why do you treat my sister badly? Why do you treat her like a thorn in your flesh? You treated her so badly when I was not home, and yet I let you go. Now you even got her in a car accident. Sherri, you deserve to die!"
She looked at him in horror and shook her head continuously. "No, I didn't. The car accident has nothing to do with me. You wronged me!"
"I wronged you? Bella is my sister. She's so obedient. Why are you so cruel to her? Did the butler lie too? Are you saying that they planned to frame you?"
Jackson Murong was stubborn in his argument. The anger made him go out of his mind. Sherri Bai didn't expect Bella Murong to set her up. But why did the butler frame her too? He was close to Bella and had watched her grow up, so it made sense that Jackson Murong believed the butler's words.
"Do you really believe that I did it?" she asked.
