"Charlotte, it wasn't me who hit Nina woods, believe it or not?"
Containing the numbing sensations in her legs, Martin Pamella took laborious steps, one at a time, towards Charlotte. Her hair was unruly, and the pouring rainwater flowed down from her forehead, blinding her vision. She lifted her head, desperate to ignore the bitterness welling up in her mouth, embodying a stubborn yet prideful aura.
Emerging from the curtain of rain was a tall and handsome man, stepping out of the hospital's entrance, his face grim and aloof. He bestowed a cold, detached glance upon the shivering woman in the rain, paying her no heed as he walked past her.
"Why won't you believe me?" Stumbling, Martin Pamella ran into his field of view, her breathtakingly beautiful face pale and haggard, "We've known each other for so many years, give me a chance to explain at least."
A crisp slap resounded, pain radiating from Martin Pamella's cheek. The force pushed her back, yet her jaw was brutally seized by a pair of cold, strong fingers.
Above them, dark clouds crowded the sky, raging tumultuously.
"Nina woods is lying in there, Martin Pamella, she lost her child, and she's in a coma from her injuries. The doctors said she might never wake up."
His voice, chilling to the bone, was accompanied by his characteristic cold indifference.
Holding her chin, Charlotte also ruthlessly gripped her long hair, pulling her up from the ground. The tug on her scalp was so painful that Martin Pamella couldn't help but scream, but a sharp look from him stilled her cry in her throat.
James icy chill surged from the soles of her feet up to her heart.
"As long as Nina woods is unconscious, Miss Katie, your life won't be easy either."
"No, I truly didn't hit Nina woods, I had no idea she was pregnant. Charlotte, what gives you the right to slander me?" Martin Pamella endeavored to explain herself, insisting she didn't intentionally crash into Nina woods. After all, Nina woods was her best friend who she'd grown up with, surely she couldn't be so cruel and ruthless.
"Hmph!"
He was emanating an aura of ruthless menace, looking down upon her, "Then why did the car that hit Nina woods also happen to be a Lamborghini Veneno?"
She didn't have time to explain.
"There are only three Lamborghini Venenos produced in the whole world, and you, Miss Katie, are the only one in the entire Manchester City who has the honor of owning one. Everybody in Manchester City knows that Miss Katie values her car as much as her life, and never lends it to others. Wait? You're telling me that Nina woods was not hit by you?"
"I didn't do it, I swear to God! I have never harmed Nina woods!"
"Do you remember Reporter Willy? That evening, he captured the image of you getting into the Lamborghini Veneno at eleven at night. Can you explain to me what you were doing out and about at that time of night?"
Reporter Willy?
Martin Pamella shivered. For the past few years, there had been a reporter who had been persistently tracking her, pestering her incessantly, and threatening to expose her scandal.
But she never did anything to offend him!
Charlotte's pupils gradually filled with ferocity. He tightened his grip on her long hair, wishing he could peel off her skin, "You love me, don't you? Loved me enough to throw away your pride, to become a demon, to even dare to kill your best friend. Two lives, Martin Pamella, even if you're chopped into mincemeat for the dogs, it won't repay."
Disgust filled the man's eyes as he harshly flung her aside and headed for the car. Martin Pamella was caught off guard, her knees buckled, and she fell to the ground. She tightly grasped his trouser leg, "I don't know why things turned out this way. Charlotte, I didn't hurt her. At least listen to my explanation. I'll hire a detective to investigate, I'll find out the truth..."
"Martin Pamella, prepare to go to jail."
"No! You can't do this to me. I'm carrying..." your child.
The last part of her plea was carried away by the wind. Charlotte didn't even hear the latter half, the car door slamming shut decisively. Running over, Martin Pamella's fingers got caught in the crevice of the door causing a tearing pain that spread throughout her body, yet she was numbed to it.
"Charlotte, listen to me. The woman in the Willy family banquet hotel was not Nina woods, it was me. It was me who was with you..." Her face turned pale as she yelled the words she had planned to bury deep within her heart for a lifetime.
