Goodbye, High School
You’re wondering what happened when Ryan opened his letter? Well, he got waitlisted, which meant if someone decided not to attend school, he was next in line. I couldn’t understand why until he explained he applied late.
Frazier and Jordan would come to school before him but would be late since Charles had something for them to do. The girls and I would leave in a few months to get settled. We applied for dorms. It turned out to be a co-ed dormitory that shared a room with three guys with a bathroom separating us. Ryan and the other guys were not happy to hear about this. I tried to change room assignments for us, but they booked everything, excellent.
Ryan helped his dad out with a new hotel, which is opening. They gave him an assistant named Jules. I met her a few times, and she was attractive. I didn’t like her. She looked at Ryan like he was the prey, and she was ready to pounce at any minute.
Ryan assured me I had nothing to worry about, plus he would hang with the guys at the hotel more than anyone else. I didn’t care; I still didn’t trust her and hated her.
We made the most of our time and spent quality time together before I left. That meant in Ryan's room, in the shower, in the car, and in other places. Frazier said we were jackrabbits, trying to create little bunnies. His words, not mine.
Frazier and Marissa were together more than ever. They had the same sick, twisted sense of humor. They tossed water onto us the next morning after Ryan and I were sleeping buck naked in his bed. We locked the door after that.
That’s okay. We got Frazier back by blowing an air horn in his ear while he slept. He was a little deaf in his left ear for a few days. That serves him right, jackass.
Jordan and Elena took things to the next level and started dating. They were trickling. Some things happened before I had arrived that they hadn’t told me yet. I didn’t ask. I figure they would say to me when the time was right.
I was packing up my room to take items with me, and Ryan was sitting there looking at me with a somber mood. I walked over to him, and he grabbed my waist, pulling me onto his lap. “I can’t believe you are leaving in three days.”
“Yeah, but classes don’t start in a month, and we must get our schedules, books, and find our dorm. Plus, we want to get settled and learn our way around,” I explained.
“It seems like the summer started, and now it’s almost over,” he said.
I gave him a soft smile. “And as soon as a spot opens up, we’ll be together again.”
He looked up at me. “Yeah, but I will still miss you.”
He reached up and pulled me into a kiss. He got up and grabbed my hand. “Where are we going?” I asked as we left the room.
