Control C Control V

Mom's tug on my hair made me wince in pain. I bit my lip until it bled to hold back the tears and pain running through my head. I can't cry. If I cry, momma will slap me again. I can't weaken in front of my sister who following me from behind hugging her doll.

Arriving at the car parked in the yard, my mother pulled me forward and pushed me into the car roughly. Then she turned around and pulled Gallena in with the same rough movement.

"If you two cry, I'll slap you harder. Got it?"

We nodded in unison. Then, I hugged Gallena who shaking with fear and horror. The same feeling as me, but I don't want to show it to her. My little sister wiped the blood from my lips while whispering, "It's okay. I'm here." She said.

Anita, our nanny, came out of the house hastily to Momma who had just closed the door. "Don't sell them, please, Signorina. They're just children!" she said with tears and cries of sorrow.

My mother pushed the young woman to the ground. "Don't bother me. Damn it!"

Anita got up and tried to dissuade my mother from getting into the car.

My heart was beating fast, more and more. My body was riveted with horror that was also increasing. Although I've only been fifteen, but I know what 'sold' means. I know because of my mother's harsh neighborhood and rude behavior that made me understand such adult things.

"That bitch really an asshole." She muttered in annoyance as she went inside.

I blinked, looking at Anita who was back lying on the ground while holding her bloody head.

I pressed my lips so as not to let out a cry.

"Where are we going, Momma?"ask Gal quietly.

"I will take two of you to Silsilia, to the place of someone who will make you make a lot of money for me." She answered as she drove the car, and moved away from our house.

Gallena opened her lips, I clasped her hands. I looked at her as I shook my head, telling her to stop asking anything.

Then, car was filled only by a gripping silence. I hugged Gallena who put her little head on my shoulder while the car drove through the still crowded streets of Milan at midnight.

I closed my eyes realizing that after this our life would change. We'll be sold to someone and become a money machine for Momma, which I really don't want to happen. Nobody will want it. Realizing that We were just a kid who wanted to get out of the situation, realizing that I couldn't do anything for Gallena or for myself. Gallena and I can only quietly accept the torment, insults and curses momma threw at us.
