"Good morning mom" Marco took his seat opposite his mom. He focused his gaze on his phone because he didn't want her engaging him in any discussion before his dad would arrive.
"Good morning son" his father stepped in. He looked up and smiled faintly. He wasn't finding any of their actions or words pleasant and he wondered the reason they had requested to see him that faithful morning.
The room was silent and he slowly raised his head as his hazel eyes went from his mom to his dad, they were discussing in low tones. "you both called for me and now you're discussing without me" he said angrily.
"Marco" his mom called in a soft tone "we need you to get married" she said and Marco looked away. He was hoping this wouldn't be the conversation they wanted to have with him but he was wrong once again. How would he get married to someone he barely knew just to save the company which he started working in, three weeks ago? he wondered.
"Mom! I'll get married but only at my will and I won't get married to the Millers only daughter!" he said firmly
"and why? she's nice and she's...."
"the company depends on our marriage! you don't need to sugarcoat it!" he interrupted his mom with a hinge of anger
"Yes my son. If you don't get married to her, we would loose our company to some board members who want us out of the company" she said bitterly. Their company, Maxs which was in partnership with the Millers and other members, was the largest partnership company in Los Angeles and loosing it to board members would render their years of hard work useless.
"I'm so sorry about your company loss or whatever but I'm not going to get married to her" he stood up to leave. He was done with having the same discussion about marriage over and over again.
"If you don't get married to her, you'd cease to be a member of this family and a heir!" his father's mean voice echoed.
what? he stopped in his tracks. "whoa!" he ran his hands through his black short hair in frustration. Why should that even be an option? he sighed.
"Think about it" his father said going upstairs.
Marco sank on the couch thinking about what his father said, almost all his wealth was gotten through his family. What was he going to do if his father disowned him? he would have nothing.
He looked across the room and his mom was staring at him. A soft stare, she didn't want to be harsh on him but that was the only way to make him agree to their request, she smiled faintly at him before taking her leave.
He took his phone and dialed Taylor's number, Taylor was his personal driver and he needed to leave as soon as possible. He felt suffocated in here
"The Sunset" Marco said when Taylor arrived.
"Okay boss" Taylor said opening the car door for him to go in. The Sunset was a famous club and bar in Los Angeles, he usually went there with Adrian, his closest friend but today, he wanted to be alone.
