Kira's POV.
"We need to celebrate!" Lily exclaims as she grabs two glasses of champagne from the tray my secretary just walked in it and hands one over to me.
"We are celebrating." I raise my glass at her before bringing it to my lips.
"Champagne doesn't cut it Kira. We need to go somewhere and celebrate this achievement of yours like what it really is. I mean, you're turning twenty-three tomorrow and you're finally going to become the CEO of your father's company, I have so many things planned for your inauguration."
Seeing how excited she is about this makes me smile and ease back into my seat. Lily has been my best friend ever since Damon disappeared from my life and refused to make contact with me again but....
I shake my head to clear my thoughts. I can't be thinking about Damon on a day like this.
"I know, let's go clubbing." She shrieks.
"Clubbing? Lily it's just my inauguration and you of all people should know that I have to be on my best behavior to convince my step dad that I am ready for this."
"That doesn't matter, the company is yours and there is nothing he can do to take that away from you, so come on." She walks over to my side and grabs my arm.
"No...wait..." I protest but she doesn't listen, she forces me up from my desk, "at least let me take my bag."
"Forget it."
We are now both laughing as she leads me out of the office and towards the elevator. As soon as we are in the elevator, she pulls out her phone and starts texting someone and doesn't look away from it until we arrive at the lobby.
A car is waiting for us already and it's only a matter of minutes before we pull up in front of a club. The whole place isn't as loud and crowded as I expect it to be.
"It's a work day and still working hours Lily, we shouldn't even be here." I say to her but she wouldn't listen, she leads me to a VIP lounge and excuses herself to get us some drinks.
It's only a matter of time before she returns and this time, she is loaded with all kinds of drinks. I still don't understand why she thinks this place would be more fun than drinking in the office.
"Just be patient. It's almost time for the club to open its doors." She tries to pacify me.
"The doors are already open Lily, just in case you didn't notice that."
"It's not about that, just be patient." She pours me a shot of vodka and I willingly take it this time around even though I am well aware of the fact that I tend to loose control when I take strong alcohol.
A few minutes later, the bustling spirit returns to the club and I glance down at the dance floor only to see a large crowd dancing and screaming along with the beat.
"Told you, it's only a matter of time before this place lights up." She yells on top of her lungs so I can hear her over the loud music.
She orders more drinks and soon enough, I am gulping down shot after shot of Vodka. I am loosing myself in the music but even though I am consuming such a large amount of alcohol, I still don't understand why I can feel something in my...
I can no longer think straight because the next thing I know, I collapse back on the couch, unconscious.
My eye lids flutter open slowly but I shut them back quickly when a very bright light hits me directly in the face. I turn to my side and open my eyes again, I am in some sort of room and I have no idea how I got here or what I am doing here.
The last thing I remember is...is...
I don't remember anything. How is that possible? There's a light throbbing in my head that makes it really difficult for me to think straight but I force myself to get up and find my way to the bathroom.
Maybe if I splash some water on my face, it would help with the drowsiness. I stagger around and luckily for me, I locate the bathroom quite easily so I turn on the faucet and splash some water on my face.
It doesn't work.
I heave heavily, I don't even understand how I am feeling. With a tight grip on the sink, I ease down on the floor gently but the more I stay like that, the more the pain in my head and body intensifies.
Without a second thought, I crawl into the shower and turn it on, I don't bother to take off my clothes, I just sit underneath it and let the water flow down my body.
I am thoroughly soaked. I am shivering and my teeth are chittering but I feel better. I don't feel so lightheaded anymore and I can now stand on my feet.
My eyes scans the bathroom for something I can change into and I find a bath robe nearby. I grab it, take off my clothes and put it on.
I have barely wrapped it around my naked body when I hear the lock turn. I have been so focused on trying to clear my drowsiness that I totally forgot about the mystery behind my presence in this room and my inability to remember how I got here.
