Growing up, my real mother ignored me, showering all her love on a rich young heir. It was only then I realized why my life had been one misfortune after another. Eathen had been living the life I was supposed to have, while I was left in the shadows. My mother constantly obstructed my relationship with Chalotte, doing everything she could to drive us apart, while Eathen took advantage of every opportunity, replacing me in every way. A bitter smile crossed my face as I made up my mind. On the night of their wedding, I would reveal the truth that would shatter everything.

Chapter 1 Chapter 1

My birthday arrived, and Olivia only gave me a small bag with a few expired candies inside, casually saying:

"Just make do with it, better than wasting it."

But when it was Eathen's birthday, she had already prepared a brand-new phone in advance, grinning from ear to ear:

"Yángyáng, it's time to upgrade your phone. A new phone will help you land a job!"

"You can use this good stuff, it'll make me feel at ease!"

Olivia's blatant double standards triggered memories of the year I graduated high school.

I had earned a city-level scholarship through my own efforts and excitedly told Olivia, hoping for her recognition and support.

But Olivia coldly replied:

"That small amount of money means nothing. Scholarships are just a facade for poor people."

"You're just lucky, picked up a bargain."

"Use this money to buy Eathen some supplements."

I could never understand why, when I was her son, she did everything to belittle me.

It wasn't until that night when I secretly saw their chat records that everything clicked.

I finally realized why she treated me like this.

That night, Olivia held Eathen's hand with a satisfied smile:

"You will enjoy all lives the wealthy class, the hard days for mom are finally over!"

I, Eathen, and Charlotte had grown up together.

Back in school, everyone often teased us, saying we were two boys fighting over one girl.

Everyone was curious to see who would end up marrying Charlotte.

At that time, we were just students, with no calculations in mind.

Charlotte always liked to stay close to me, like a shadow, always following me around.

In our senior year, she even confessed her love for me in front of Eathen.

Eathen didn't show any negative emotions, instead, he sincerely wished us well.

But just a few days later, Charlotte's parents found out about us.

The Lin family was the most powerful family in the area, with both influence and a strong background.

To prevent Charlotte from making a mistake, her parents immediately intervened in the relationship.

Without considering Charlotte's feelings, they directly told her:

"You can't associate with this person, he's not worthy!"

Then, they publicly declared at the school that I was a person of poor character, leading Charlotte astray.

On the day I transferred, Charlotte cried like a child, promising me that once she matured, she would be with me.

My heart was filled with hope, and I worked even harder.

Though life was hard and the future uncertain, I still believed that her promise came from the heart.

So, I worked relentlessly, no matter how many part-time jobs I took or how many late nights I endured, I kept pushing forward.

Gradually, my position at work began to rise, my salary increased, and through my efforts, I finally found my footing.

I never wavered, always keeping her promise in my heart:

"Once I'm financially stable, I'll go find her."

But Charlotte seemed to be drifting further away.

Our contact became less and less, and she always said:

"Once you're more successful, we can meet again."

I didn't doubt her or give up. Instead, I worked even harder, thinking that one day I would stand before her, ready to meet her with the best version of myself.

However, when we met again, Charlotte was already standing next to Eathen, holding his hand, smiling like a happy couple.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
