My mate, Alpha Kaelen, was supposed to be my everything. But in his eyes, I was just a placeholder for the other woman in his life, Lyra. When Lyra claimed she was attacked by Rogues and pregnant with a bastard pup, Kaelen made his choice. He commanded me to tell the pack elders that I was the one who had been defiled. He commanded me to claim Lyra's child as my own. Then, when I discovered I was pregnant with our own pup, he gave me his final command: go to the Healer and get rid of it. Our child, he said, would cause Lyra too much stress. He gave her sweet comfort through their private mind-link while ordering me to kill our baby. I was a tool for his convenience. She was a treasure to be protected. But when his mother locked me in a silver-lined cell, leaving me to miscarry our pup in a pool of my own blood, the last of my love turned to ash. As I lay there, broken and empty, I gathered the last of my strength and let out a howl I hadn't used since I was a child. It was a sacred call for my family-the royal family of the Whitefang Clan-to come and collect their princess.

Chapter 1
SERAPHINA'S POV:
"Seraphina, go to the Elder Council. Tell them you were the one taken by the Rogues."
The voice was not a sound. It was a pressure inside my skull, cold and sharp. It was the voice of my mate, my Alpha, Kaelen. It came through the mind-link, the invisible connection that ties every member of the Bloodmoon Pack together. For most, the link is a comfort, a constant sense of belonging. For me, it had become a cage.
My hands trembled, and I clutched the simple cotton dress I wore. "Kaelen, no. Please. I already agreed to claim Lyra's pup as my own when it's born. I can't... I can't also take the shame of being... defiled."
The words were a desperate whisper in my own mind, a plea sent back across that psychic bond. There was a pause, a moment of chilling silence.
Then his voice returned, laced with an authority that made my knees weak. It was the Alpha's Command, a power unique to the leader of a pack. It wasn't a request. It was an order woven into the fabric of my being, compelling obedience.
"You are the future Luna. You must be strong enough to bear this for the pack's stability. Lyra is fragile. This scandal would break her. Her family's alliance is critical right now. You know this. Do not make this difficult. "
His praise was a slap in the face. He saw my sacrifice not as a gift of love, but as a duty I was expected to perform. My strength was not for me; it was for her. For Lyra.
I squeezed my eyes shut, a wave of sickness washing over me. "And the pup?" I asked, my own thought trembling with a fear so profound it felt like ice in my veins. "Our pup?"
There was another silence, longer this time. I could almost feel his irritation, his impatience.
"The timing is wrong," he finally said, his voice flat and devoid of any emotion. "Lyra is already unstable. The stress of another pup in the pack house, one born so close to hers... it would be too much for her. Go to the Healer. He is waiting for you."
The command wasn't spoken, but it was there. An unspoken, brutal order. Get rid of our child.
My breath hitched. My hand flew to my still-flat stomach, a protective gesture that was purely instinct. Our pup. A tiny, forming life that was half me, half him. He was telling me to destroy it. For another woman.
"I... I understand," I managed to send back, the thought feeling like it was being torn from my soul.
And then, the final, crushing blow. As my own link with him remained open, a new sensation bled through. It was the echo of him opening a different, private link. A soft, gentle murmur, his mental voice wrapped in velvet.
"It's alright, Lyra, my sweet. Don't cry. I've handled it. Everything will be fine."
The contrast was so stark, so cruel, it shattered something deep inside me. He gave me cold commands; he gave her sweet comfort. I was a tool. She was a treasure.
My legs moved on their own, carrying me out of our shared room and towards the pack's medical wing. The Healer, a grim-faced older wolf named Elias, was waiting. He didn't need to ask why I was there. An Alpha's Command to a pack's Healer was as good as a signed decree. The silver instruments were already laid out on a tray.
"Luna," he said, his voice low with a pity that only made it worse. "Alpha Kaelen has informed me of the situation."
He looked at me, his eyes holding a deep sadness. "You should know... the injuries you sustained fighting for him last season... they weakened your body. This procedure... it will likely make it impossible for you to ever carry a pure-blooded pup to term again."
His words hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. No more pups. He was asking me to sacrifice not just this child, but all our future children.
Elias picked up a curved, silver scalpel. The metal gleamed under the light, and my wolf recoiled. Silver was a poison to our kind, burning our skin, sapping our strength. A tool made of it was designed for finality.
As he moved closer, a tiny, almost imperceptible flutter happened deep within me. It wasn't a kick. It was just... a flicker. A spark of life asserting its existence. "Mine."
My own inner wolf, long suppressed and silent for Kaelen's sake, roared to life. "OUR PUP! MINE!"
"Stop!" I gasped, scrambling back from the table. "I can't. I won't."
The Healer paused, surprise on his face, but he didn't argue. He simply nodded.
I stumbled out of the medical wing, my heart a wild drum against my ribs. I would protect this child. I would. I had to.
As I stepped into the main pack square, my eyes were drawn to the massive outdoor screen. It usually displayed pack news or announcements. Now, it was showing a live feed from a high-end human boutique.
There he was. My Alpha. My Kaelen. He was smiling, his head bent close to Lyra's. Her hand was on her swollen belly, and he was holding up a tiny, exquisitely carved wooden cradle for her to see.
The mind-link, which I had forgotten to close, erupted with the sneering thoughts of the pack.
"Look at her. The Omega slut who thinks she's a Luna."
"She probably spread her legs for the first Rogue she saw."
"Good thing Alpha Kaelen is getting rid of her. She's a disgrace."
The voices were a swarm of wasps in my head. They thought I was a worthless Omega he had picked up out of pity. They had no idea I was a princess of the Whitefang Clan, that I had hidden my true, powerful scent and suppressed my own Alpha bloodline just to be with him.
I looked from the screen, where he was doting on another woman and her child, to my own flat stomach, where our pup was fighting for its life.
The last piece of my heart turned to stone. I would not just leave. I would sever the bond. I would perform the Rejection. And I would make him feel the agony of what he had thrown away.
