Chapter 1 SIGNING A $10M CONTRACT

Lena walked into the meeting room, confident and poised. She was about to close a major deal with one of the biggest investors in the city. Her company, Harris Enterprises, was on the verge of expanding into new markets, and this investment would be the key to unlocking that growth.

As she shook hands with the investor, Marcus Thompson, she flashed him a warm smile. "Marcus, it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person. I've heard great things about your business acumen."

Marcus smiled back, clearly charmed by Lena's charm. "The pleasure is all mine, Lena. Your reputation precedes you. You're known for being one of the most innovative and driven businesswomen in the city."

Lena laughed, a throaty sound that was both confident and playful. "I try to stay ahead of the curve, Marcus. And I think our companies share a similar vision for the future."

The two of them sat down at the conference table, surrounded by their respective teams. Lena's team was comprised of some of the brightest minds in the business world, and they had all been working tirelessly to prepare for this meeting.

As they began to discuss the terms of the investment, Lena was in her element. She was a master negotiator, and she knew exactly how to get what she wanted.

"I'm looking for a significant equity stake in your company," Marcus said, his voice firm but polite. "I'm willing to invest $10 million, but I want 20% of the company."

Lena leaned forward, her eyes locked on Marcus's. "I understand your concerns, Marcus, but I think 10% would be a more reasonable stake. We're looking for a partner, not a majority shareholder."

The negotiations went back and forth, with both sides making concessions and counteroffers. But in the end, Lena got what she wanted. The investment was finalized, and Harris Enterprises would receive the funding it needed to take the next step.

As the meeting concluded and the contracts were signed, Lena felt a sense of satisfaction. She had dominated the business world once again, using her intelligence, and negotiating skills to get the deal done.

The investment would be a game-changer for Harris Enterprises, and Lena knew that she had made the right decision. She was a businesswoman, a leader, and a visionary. And she would stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

As she left the conference room, Lena was met with congratulations from her team. They were all excited about the new investment, and they knew that this was just the beginning.

"We did it, president Harris," her CFO said, beaming with pride. "We're going to shake the business world."

Lena smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. "We're just getting started," she said. "Let's make it happen."

As the days went by, Lena's company, Harris Enterprises, was on a roll. The investment from Marcus Thompson had given them the boost they needed to expand into new markets and explore new opportunities.

Lena was in high demand, speaking at conferences and meeting with other business leaders to discuss potential partnerships and collaborations. She was a rockstar in the business world, and her company was riding high on her success.

But not everyone was happy about Lena's success. There were those who resented her for her rapid rise to the top, and who were jealous of her intelligence and charisma.

One such person was Victoria, a rival businesswoman who had always felt threatened by Lena's success. Victoria had been trying to sabotage Lena's company for months, spreading rumors and lies about her and her business practices.

One day, Victoria made a bold move, by stomping into Harris enterprise and accusing Lena of insider trading and threatening to expose her to the authorities. Lena was furious, but she knew she had to keep her cool.

"Victoria, you're just jealous of my success," Lena said, her voice calm and collected. "You can't accept that I'm better than you, so you're trying to tear me down."

Victoria sneered at Lena. "You'll never be able to prove that you're innocent," she said. "I'll make sure that everyone knows what you've done."

But Lena was one step ahead. She had anticipated Victoria's move, after a series of unwarranted confrontations from her, and she had already set things in place, incase Victoria crosses her boundaries . She smiled sweetly at Victoria, knowing that she had the upper hand.

"I'm afraid you're mistaken, Victoria," Lena said. "I have all the evidence I need to prove my innocence. And I'm not going to let you bully me into submission."

The battle between Lena and Victoria was just beginning, and it would be a fight to the finish. But Lena was ready for it. She was a businesswoman, a warrior, and a master strategist. And she would stop at nothing to protect her company and her reputation.

As the conflict between Lena and Victoria escalated, Lena's company was put to the test. Would she be able to weather the storm and come out on top? Or would Victoria's accusations destroy everything she had worked for?

The outcome was far from certain, but one thing was clear: Lena would fight tooth and nail to protect her company and her reputation. She was a force to be reckoned with, and she would not be defeated easily.

Victoria sat in her office, surrounded by her team of lawyers and PR specialists. They were all working together to create a comprehensive plan to take down Lena and her company.

"We need to make sure that we cover all our bases," Victoria said, her voice confident and determined. "We can't afford to make any mistakes."

"Agreed," one of her team members said. "We'll start by spreading rumors about Lena's business practices. We'll make sure that everyone knows that she's untrustworthy and unscrupulous."

"And we'll also file a lawsuit against her company," another team member added. "We'll claim that she's engaged in unfair business practices and that she's trying to monopolize the market."

Victoria smiled, satisfied with the plan. "I like it," she said. "Let's get to work."

But little did Victoria know, Lena had already anticipated her plan. Lena had been keeping an eye on Victoria's movements, and she had a team of experts who were working to counter Victoria's every move.

As Victoria's team began to spread rumors and file lawsuits, Lena's team was ready to respond. They had a comprehensive plan in place to defend against Victoria's attacks, and they were confident that they could come out on top.

"We need to be proactive," Lena said to her team. "We can't just sit back and wait for Victoria to make her move. We need to anticipate her next step and be ready to counter it."

"Agreed," one of her team members said. "We've been monitoring Victoria's movements, and we think we know what she's planning next."

Lena nodded. "Let's hear it."

The team member explained that Victoria was planning to launch a smear campaign against Lena, using social media and other channels to spread negative information about her and her company.

Lena smiled. "That's not going to work," she said. "We've been building a strong online presence, and we have a loyal community of supporters. We'll be able to counter Victoria's attacks and come out on top."

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
