Orphaned and rumored to be cursed, Jang Wonyoung has always been a pariah. Abandoned as a baby and rejected by potential adoptive parents, she was thrown out into the streets at fourteen, left to face a world that seemed determined to break her. Just when she'd given up hope, an elderly couple offered her a home, a fragile haven in a life filled with misfortune. But even kindness couldn't shield her from the cruelty of her peers. Enduring years of relentless bullying, Wonyoung learned to survive, until a brutal ambush landed her in the heart of the infamous Black Forest, a place from which no one returns. There, she faced a fate worse than death, a meeting with a creature of nightmare that changed her forever. Now marked, both physically and supernaturally, Wonyoung is unaware that she holds the key to a powerful vampire prince, Park Sunghoon's destiny. Driven by a primal bond he can't ignore, he begins a desperate search, determined to find the girl with the brown eyes and claim her as his own, even if it means blurring the lines between the human and supernatural worlds, and drawing Wonyoung into a dangerous game she never knew existed.

Chapter 1 One

Wonyoung lashes fluttered open, her head was heavy and it felt unusually cold. Starting at the unfamiliar surrounding, she stood up immediately and looked around. She was in a forest, to be precise, the Black Forest. Rumors had it that barely anyone made it out alive. She was visibly frightened, panic started to kick in and she was confused. She tried to remember how she had gotten here and fragments of her memories were returning. After she had drank the juice Mark had given to her, she slowly began to lose consciousness and sanity.

It dawned on her, Mark and the other school bullies had drugged her. Her very own crush, Mark had played part in it. Tears streamed down her face as she recalled how they left the semiconscious Wonyoung in front of the Black Forest.

"She wants to play tough right? Let's see how tough she can be here", Ari said and the other girls laughed. She stood in daze as they walked off and she slowly made her way in there.

"What have I ever done to deserve this?", she said nasally and she sobbed. She didn't know what direction to go. It was slowly getting darker and Wonyoung got even more panicked. Strange noises hurled around her and the wind made the scariest noise. She began walking aimlessly and behind her, she heard the footsteps. She quickly turned around, only to be met with a pack of wolves. She screamed and tried running but in no time, they had surrounded her, smacking their lips. Seeing how hopeless the situation was, she let out a sad laugh and closed her eyes and thought to herself.

Perhaps she was destined to suffer. Maybe she wasn't supposed to be born in the first place. From the ill treatment in the orphanage, to the mysterious death that was met with those who wanted to adopt her, the constant shaming from her peers and then now in the Black Forest, Wonyoung couldn't help but agree with the mistress of the orphanage. She was indeed cursed and ill fated. Her foster grandparents who had found her on the streets were her only ray of light in her life and she was nothing but a burden to them. Perhaps death would be an easier way for her. At least it was much better than this hell of a life.

Anticipating the attack, she smiled and gritted her teeth. But a while passed and nothing happened. Instead, the metallic smell of blood filled the air and cries from the wolves was heard. She slowly opened her eyes and before her was a tall figure, about 1.85m, pale with dark shoulder length hair fighting the wolves. His movements were so nimble and in no time, he subdued the wolves.

He turned to her and before she could take a good look at his face, he sank his fangs into her neck. The pain was unbearable and she began to cry. She felt her blood draining at a fast pace and she was getting weaker. Her vision blurred and the world around her turned black.

Waking up, she found herself be the road side. Too exhausted and weak to move a limb, she laid there, staring into space. She never believed in supernatural creatures but she had encountered one. Perhaps she wasn't totally ill fated to have escaped the Black Forest.

After regaining some strength, the walked home. Her grandparents were very worried, which made her feel extremely guilty. She assured them she was fine and had only lost her way. Then hugged them and walked briskly to her room

Staring at the mirror in front of her, bite mark was evident on her neck. She hid in her room, disinfected it and applied some ointments. "Hopefully it'd be all gone in a few weeks ", she thought. Little did she know that it not only wouldn't be gone, it'd also change her fate.

Unbeknownst to her, a certain crowned prince was going nuts, realizing the mistake he made. He had marked a human girl out of hunger and unfortunately, he had been yearning for her. Unable to recognize anything about her but her brown eyes and huge glasses, he was at a huge loss. He could only use the mate mark to communicate to her through dreams, where he's have to compel her to seek him.
