In a world where werewolves are born from ancient lunar codes embedded in their DNA, every pack is tethered to a specific moon. There are four known moons-each representing a bloodline, each ruled by an Alpha chosen by fate. But the Fifth Moon? It's a myth. A celestial anomaly. A forbidden code buried in the bones of the cosmos. When Kael Veyron, the fierce Alpha of the Crimson Howl Pack, begins to suffer from unexplainable seizures during full moons, the Elders fear he's been cursed. But when he meets Lyra Aerion, a mute, silver-eyed girl with no pack, no past, and a scent that doesn't belong to this world-he realizes his "curse" is an awakening. Lyra is not just a Luna. She's the last surviving descendant of the extinct Fifth Moon bloodline-a genetic key to the "Final Shift," a transformation so powerful it could unify or destroy all werewolf clans forever. As Kael and Lyra's bond grows, they unravel truths that shake the origin of werewolves itself-truths buried by gods, hunted by monsters, and stained by betrayal. They must defy ancient laws, rebel against the Moon Elders, and survive an apocalyptic prophecy that says one must die... for the other to ascend.

Chapter 1 The Howl Between Worlds

The moon didn't rise that night.

It hovered-bloodless, breathless, like it too was afraid of what was coming.

Alpha Kael Veyron stood at the cliff's edge, his boots dug into the frost-covered rock, his chest bare beneath a storm-churned sky. Wind snapped through the trees below like the warning growls of the earth itself. His pack was asleep. His body was calm.

But his soul? Screaming.

For the third month in a row, on the night of the full moon, Kael didn't shift.

He fractured.

Bones trembled, skin shimmered with a silver glow, and his mind was assaulted by visions he couldn't explain-visions of a woman with stars in her eyes and a voice made of silence. Always the same woman. Always staring back like she knew him.

Then came the final blow: a flash of a fifth moon, distant and wrong, suspended in a part of the sky no astronomer dared name.

Kael gritted his teeth. "You're not real," he growled to no one. "You don't exist."

"Then why do you smell me?" came a voice from behind-soft, feminine, devastating.

He spun, claws out, but stopped cold.

She stood there barefoot, pale as snow, with hair the color of dying starlight and eyes that shimmered like frozen mercury. No heartbeat. No scent. And yet her presence struck him with the force of a thousand alphas. She wore a simple tattered cloak, soaked from rain, but she held herself like royalty.

"You're not from any pack," he said, low and dangerous. "Who sent you?"

She tilted her head, unblinking. Didn't speak.

Kael's wolf pushed against his skin, agitated. Mate? No. That couldn't be. He didn't believe in fate. Not anymore.

"Say something," he demanded. "Anything."

She raised her hand instead-and pointed at the sky.

Kael followed her finger... and saw it.

Not one moon.

Two.

One was the moon he'd known all his life-bright and full. The other... was cracked. Dim. Bleeding light in pulsing waves. A forgotten celestial body, barely holding together, as if reality itself had tried to erase it.

Kael's knees buckled.

"You are real," he whispered.

The girl stepped forward and touched his chest-right over the place his heart should be. His pulse synced with hers instantly, without rhythm, wild and chaotic, like two creatures pulled from opposite galaxies colliding.

Then she leaned in. Her lips didn't move. But a voice, old as time, filled his head like thunder beneath water:

I am Lyra. Luna of the Fifth Moon. I came for you, Alpha.

Before the world ends... we must remember who we were.

Kael stared into her starlit eyes and knew one thing with terrifying clarity.

This was not the beginning of a love story.

It was the start of a war.

My name is Katia, and I am just trying to survive until my fated mate arrives. Which may be easier said than done. Rejectection is the last straw. Whispering my acceptance of his rejection. I run through the pack house, out across the manicured lawn into the forest. "I'm sorry, my sweet girl," I say to my wolf. I'm sorry you have been stuck with me and have had to suffer everything I have. She whispers," it's not your fault, Katia. We came to a cliff with a waterfall. The hurt keeps pounding at me. I need it to stop. My sweet girl, and I just want peace, I keep running and leap off the cliff. Spreading my arms wide, with tears streaming down my face, I fall, not making a sound, waiting for sweet oblivion where we feel nothing ever again. "I love you, my sweet girl! Until we meet again, "My wolf replied just before we hit the water, "I love you too, Katia. I have never regretted a moment with you." The Snow Moon pack is having their last barbecue of the summer next to the waterfall on their land. The adults are laughing and joking while watching the pups play. The alpha, beta, and gamma are swimming with some of the older children and playing a game of Marco Polo. Someone yells, "Oh my goddess, someone just jumped over the waterfall!" Everyone is frozen as they watch what looks to be a child falling arms spread wide, no one makes a sound. The small body hits the water like a plane crashing into the side of a mountain. The alpha, beta, and gamma, spring into action, swimming towards the area the person went under. The alpha is screaming his wolf is going crazy repeating, "Find her. Find her...find her!" They dive and the beta surfaces with a small person in his arms. Alpha takes the girl from his beta, laying her on the ground. The men are shocked by what they see. She is covered in scars and injuries. Her body is twisted and broken. The Beta asks, "Who could have done this to someone so defenseless?" Alpha drops to his knees, repeating, "MATE...MATE...MATE!"

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
