A young woman haunted by the tragic events of her childhood is now determined to uncover the whereabouts of her mother, who disappeared just days after her father was murdered right before her eyes. Now grown up, Lyra begins her search for the truth. But her journey leads her into a web of romantic entanglements with several men around her. Will Lyra be able to find her mother? And will she uncover the mastermind behind the tragic events of her past?
"Aunt Sophia doesn't agree, Lyra. You're still too young, darling!" Sophia protested when Lyra explained her intentions.
"But Aunt, how much longer must I wait? I'm twenty-five now. I'm a grown woman, and I have to find my mother. I'm sure she's still alive!"
Lyra insisted on her plan to uncover what happened fifteen years ago. For all that time, this beautiful woman had been plagued by dreams of that tragic event. It was incredibly difficult for her to forget, causing her immense suffering.
Once again, the shadow of the fifteen-year-old incident haunted Lyra every time she closed her eyes.
Blood everywhere, many people brutally tortured. Then her father, beaten to death by three strangers, right before her eyes.
"Maybe it's time I find out and uncover what happened fifteen years ago!"
"Alright then, let me help you!" Sophia agreed, taking a card from her wallet.
"Go and see this person. I'm sure he can help you!" Sophia handed Lyra a business card.
Lyra took it and read the name.
"Adrian Damon? Who is he, Aunt?" Lyra asked curiously.
"Meet Mr. Damon and tell him you got his address from Sophia! You'll find your answers then, darling!"
With the business card in hand, Lyra took a taxi to the address.
Lyra arrived at a house painted gray. She rang the doorbell.
A man with a slick-back hairstyle, wearing a white shirt, opened the door.
"Who are you?" the young man asked coldly.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm looking for Mr. Adrian Damon. May I see him?" Lyra asked hesitantly.
The man before her seemed very young, and she felt uncomfortable calling him 'sir.' But to be polite, Lyra used the formal address.
"Who are you?" the Oriental-looking man repeated his question.
"I'm Lyra, sir! I got this address from Aunt Sophia. She told me to see Mr. Damon."
The man looked surprised when Lyra mentioned Sophia's name.
"Come in, let's talk inside!" the man invited. But Lyra didn't immediately follow, as she hadn't yet received confirmation that Adrian Damon was inside.
"Why are you just standing there? You were looking for me, weren't you? Let's talk inside!"
"Excuse me, are you Adrian Damon?" Lyra clarified.
The man smiled and nodded, gesturing for Lyra to enter.
Adrian invited Lyra to sit opposite him.
"How is Aunt Sophia, and how do you know her?" Adrian asked curiously.
"I live with Aunt Sophia. She's been helping me. I don't really understand why she sent me to you, but she said you could help me!" Lyra explained directly.
Lyra didn't want to waste any more time. She needed to uncover what happened fifteen years ago and find her mother.
"Tell me what you want to do," Adrian said suddenly.
Lyra hesitated to tell him. But she trusted Sophia and was sure Sophia would introduce her to the right person.
"Fifteen years ago, I witnessed a brutal murder; my father was one of the victims. I've kept quiet, only telling Aunt Sophia ten years ago when she helped me. The memory still haunts me. I want to uncover the truth," Lyra explained seriously.
"Sun Group?" Adrian said confidently.
"You know about that giant company?"
Adrian smirked. "Of course, because my parents were also victims. But it'll be difficult if you want revenge for your parents' deaths. That company is too big; we can't penetrate the fortress they've built with their philanthropy. No one will listen to us, even if we tell the world about their scandals. You know they hold regular charity events, right? They donate huge sums of money. Their wickedness is almost completely hidden by their well-known generosity."
"It seems you know a lot about Sun Group!" Lyra thought.
Even Lyra's own investigations had yielded nothing. All she knew was that her father had worked for the large company and received a promotion. But before he could take the position, the murder Lyra had witnessed took place.
"I work for that huge company. I struggled to get in, but I still haven't been able to avenge my parents' deaths!" Adrian clenched his fists.
He always got emotional when he remembered how his parents died.
"Then help me get in too!" Lyra requested confidently.
Instead of answering, Adrian looked Lyra up and down.
"What are you looking at, sir?" Lyra asked uncomfortably.
"Stop calling me sir; I'm sure we're the same age!" Adrian turned away, annoyed that Lyra kept calling him 'sir.'
"Okay, Adrian, then help me get into that company!" Lyra repeated her request.
