The ballroom was filled with laughter. A thousand twinkling lights sparkled above, but Amira Lawson felt nothing but cold.

She stood at the center, adorned in red silk, beside her husband - Jason. His hand rested lightly on hers, but his eyes were far away, scanning the crowd as if she didn't exist.

It was their fifth wedding anniversary.

And the night she would die.

"To Mr. and Mrs. Lawson," her best friend Mara toasted, clinking her glass with false cheer. Amira smiled tightly, ignoring the bitter taste in her champagne. Something was off. Jason hadn't kissed her. He hadn't even looked at her since they arrived.

Then came the whispers.

"She stole money from the charity fund."

"Even slept with the driver, they say."

"Jason caught her - that's why he's divorcing her quietly."

Amira froze.

What?

Her hands trembled. "Jason... what are they talking about?"

But Jason said nothing. His silence was louder than any accusation.

Later that night, when they were alone in the penthouse, she begged for the truth.

"Please, tell me you don't believe them. Jason, it's me. Your wife."

He turned to her slowly, and for the first time, she saw it. Disgust.

"You're not my wife anymore."

Then came the pain. The burning in her chest. The poison in the champagne.

As she collapsed, gasping, her last sight was Mara - smirking.
