Chapter 1 PROLOGUE

It was time for the elimination of the wicked Luna Justitia, who had ruled for 100 years, killing newborn children to prolong her life on the throne.

Seated in her dimly lit chambers, surrounded by her sinister counsel, a woman who had just given birth was dragged in with her newborn baby, bleeding profusely. The placenta still connected mother and child, and the poor woman sobbed desperately.

"Justitia, have mercy on my newborn," she pleaded, her lips pale and cracked. The only response from the wicked Luna was a chilling laugh.

"Mercy? How will I rule forever?" Her laugh echoed around the chamber, sending shivers down the spines of her council of elders. She stood up abruptly, and all heads bowed to the ground except for the woman, who continued to cry for mercy.

Justitia snarled, her fingers elongating into sharp claws, her ears taking on an elf-like appearance, and her white wolf form emerging as she descended from her throne. The woman recoiled with her baby, tears streaming down her face.

"Bring him to me," she growled, about to pounce on the newborn, fully transformed into her white wolf, when an arrow flew directly into her stomach. She immediately turned to her human form, naked and wincing in pain.

"Ouch!" she hissed, grinning through her teeth as she saw the sage and Beta Kane enter.

"You have done enough. You have killed babies for your selfishness. It's time to meet your ancestors," Kane declared, drawing his bow to shoot another arrow.

Justitia coughed loudly, laughing maniacally, her hand clutching her bleeding stomach. She was losing her grip, but still strong. "Who do you think you are, Kane?" she screamed with her last breath, as Kane aimed his bow.

"I am Kane, soon to be Alpha of this pack," he responded. She smirked. "You can't do this. I will come back for you..." Before she could finish, the arrow was released, piercing her stomach and exiting through her back.

And that's how Alpha Kane became the ruler of the Skywood Pack.

Emily's POV

A shiver ran down my spine as I saw Alpha Kane approach me. I lay helplessly on his bed, my heart pounding like a drum.

"Alpha Kane," I murmured in fear, seeing the beast in front of me with his glowing eyes. It was clear he wasn't in control of his body.

"You are so beautiful," he muttered, dragging me by the leg. I tried to resist, but his grip tightened like a vice.

I trembled beneath Alpha Kane's gaze, my heart racing with every step he took closer.

"You little omega," he sneered, his hands trailing down my thighs. I shook my head frantically.

"No, please, Alpha," I pleaded, but it fell on deaf ears as he was consumed by lust.

I felt a searing pain as Alpha Kane's claws dug into my skin, his hot breath on my neck making my skin crawl.

"Alpha Kane!" I screamed as he entered me. That was the last thing I remembered before I passed out.

I woke up back in the Alpha's chamber, a very wicked being who treated the lowest rank as nothing. I was his slave, an omega, and we were not regarded as anything in the pack. We were nothing but rogues.

Getting up, my feet limp, my eyes blurry with tears streaming down.

I was raped by Alpha Kane, the dangerous and powerful Alpha of the Skywood Pack. I hastily gathered my clothes, my fingers fumbling with the laces as I struggled to cover myself.

The shame was written all over me as I bowed my head, even though no one was there. I walked out, limping and wailing in tears.

"What's going on, Pikky Pikky?" Ava yelled from afar, running towards me. She was my best friend, and we were both in the same rank as omegas, slaves to the pack.

"Hello!" she snapped her fingers, bringing me out of my trance. "Uhhmmm, Ava," I began, but tears were already streaming down my face.

"What's going on?" she asked, her face filled with worry.

"It's nothing," I sniffed through my tears. Her eyes scanned my body, and her gaze landed on my neck where a bite mark was visible.

Ava's eyes grew wide, her eyebrows shooting up in surprise"Don't tell me you were intimate with someone who isn't your mate!" she exclaimed.

I kept crying, unable to find the right words. "Why are you crying?" she asked.

"Talk to me. Why did you do that? You could get killed for that," she said. I couldn't explain that I was raped by the Alpha to save myself from trouble.

I sighed and took a deep breath. "It's fine," I said, trying to compose myself.

"Are you sure?" she asked curiously. I nodded in response.

"Fine, it's a secret," she winked, and a fake smile spread across my lips. "Are you ready for the mating ball happening tonight?" she asked, but I was not in the mood to talk.

"Yeah," I responded sluggishly. She held my hand and jumped.

"I can't wait to meet my mate. We have hope that once we meet our mate, we could have a higher rank in the pack," she said. I nodded, lost in my own thoughts. Would my mate accept me if he found out that I had been with someone else?

Would I ever leave this rank?

"Hello! Are you even listening?" Ava snapped.

"I can't wait. Imagine Beta Cornelius being my mate," she said, jumping excitedly. I laughed.

Ava would never stop dreaming of having Alpha Kane's son, Cornelius. He was gentle, reserved, handsome, tall, with a possessive aura, a great warrior. Every lady in the pack drooled over him, eagerly waiting to see who would be his mate.

"If he's yours, so be it," I muttered softly, pulling her cheek, realizing how quickly I had forgotten what had happened.

"Thank you," A smile spread across her lips, before the chief maid called out her name. "Ava," she rolled her eyes. "I'll see you later, bestie," she smiled and walked away, leaving me with a fake smile as I was brought back to reality.

Tonight's mating ball would determine if my secret would be revealed. I sighed and walked away.
