Chapter 1 Awakening

Luna's POV.

"No! Don't do that, just let me go!".

I screamed, gasping heavily and seeking help but the last thing I could remember was dashing my foot to the ground.

The mint scent of the herbs woke me up with the sounds of whispers and radiating light flashing in my feet.

My body felt weak, my headache filling the air with its grimness. Everything felt unfamiliar, even when I blinked, trying to focus.

All I could see was the walls were made of wood with a small fire burning in the corner. I tried to recall every event from last year and then a woman with silver hair sat beside me, watching me closely.

"You're awake?" She asked softly. "So tell me, how are you feeling now?" Her voice was filled with relief.

"What happened? And where...where am I?" I asked, looking confused, my throat was dry, and my voice came out hoarse.

She gently placed a cup of water in my hands. "You look thirsty. Drink; it will help you.".

I took a sip, my mind still foggy. "Who are you? And why am I here?"

She took a deep breath. "Relax, don't be scared. My name is Aurora," she said. "You were once a powerful Luna.".

A Luna? My heart pounded, looking shocked; I didn't understand. The word felt important, but my mind was empty.

"A powerful Luna? How? Maybe that's not me because I can't remember," I admitted.

Aurora's eyes were filled with sympathy. "Something terrible has happened to you. You were betrayed, and you accidentally fell, and this made your body broken when I found you."

I was gripped in panic. "Betrayed? By who?"

She hesitated. "I had no full details about the story, but I'm certain of just one thing-there are people who don't want you to remember they are fighting over it."

I shivered. Who could that be? Who wants to erase my memories? And why?

I became exhausted by the pull of the night as different questions kept sticking through my mind, and my dreams were strange, yet familiar.

After some time a tall man stood before me as I tried to figure out who the person was.

His jaw clenched with wild black hair and his golden eyes burned with something I couldn't understand-pain? Anger? His presence was overwhelming, his voice deep and filled with raw emotions.

"Luna..." he whispered.

The way he mentioned my name sent a chill through me. It wasn't just a name. It meant something more.

Then, the dream shifted.

All I could see were two babies that were tiny with helpless cries filling the air. I became sad trying to rescue them but they were all swallowed by darkness before I could reach them.

I woke up with a gasp, my chest rising and rapidly falling. My heart pounded against my ribs.

Two babies.

I pressed a trembling hand to my stomach. Had I given birth? Who's the owner of the babies I just dreamt about?

I didn't remember being pregnant. I didn't remember holding a child in my arms.

But the pain in my heart told me that those babies were mine.

And if they were mine.....where were they?

I sat up, trying to figure out what had happened, my breath uneven. The dream felt too real to be just a dream. The man–the babies were all part of my past.

I turned to Aurora who was still preparing herbs by the fire. "Aurora," I called, my voice shaky. "Please, I want to ask a question".

"What is it again, Luna?" She interjected, her voice slow and calm.

"Do I have babies?". I curiously asked.

Her hands styled over the herbs as she froze, and for a moment, she didn't speak. Then she slowly turned to face me, her silver eyes filled with something unreadable. "Is anything the matter? Why do you ask?"

I saw them," I whispered, gripping the blanket tightly. "I saw two babies in my dream. They were crying bitterly and I....I think they were mine".

Aurora let out a sigh, setting the herbs aside, she sat beside me, placing a gentle hand over mine.

"Your memories are returning gradually," she softly said. "But I don't know everything about you, Luna. You were barely alive when we found you. Your body was broken, and your mind lost; we healed you, but only you can remember whatever happened before that".

I became frustrated which kept burning inside me. "But what if I had children? What if they need me? My voice cracked. "What if they are in danger?"

Aurora's grip tightened. "Then you must find out the truth. But Luna, you must also be careful. If someone erased your memories, they had a reason."

I was lost in deep thought, contemplating as the warning sent a chill down my spine. Who would do this to me? And why?

I pushed the blanket off and swung my legs over the side of the bed. Pain shot through my body, but I ignored it. I had to move. I had to remember.

"Luna, wait-" Aurora reached for me, but I stood, gripping the bedpost for balance.

"I can't just stay here, I am no longer comfortable here," I said. "I need to find out the truth to know who I am. I need to know what happened to me".

Aurora signed but didn't argue. "You need some rest, Luna. At least let me help you gain your strength. You won't get far in this condition".

I hesitated knowing she was right. My body became weak but my mind was determined.

Aurora helped me recover for the next few days, giving me herbs to drink, forcing me to walk, and even training me in simple combat. My strength returned little by little but my memories remained foggy.

Every night I had the same dream.

The man with golden eyes.

The two crying babies.

But something else began to change as the dream grew clearer.

"Ryder..."

The man in my dream wasn't just anyone. He was Alpha Ryder.

The name sent a strange shiver through me. Was he my mate? Did he betray me?

Who was he to me? And why did he look at me as if I was his greatest loss?
