I saw him before I knew him.tall, sharp, wrapped in shadows and confidence. He didn't walk. He prowled. There was something in the way his golden eyes pinned mine across the bonfire flames that made my heart stutter. Like he'd waited centuries just to find me. Like he already knew the sound of my voice, the curve of my spine, the taste of my name. Scarlett Jones The Alpha heir. Cold-blooded, ruthless, beautiful. A prince of the pack mafia, with a cruel reputation and a body built for sin. He was the kind of man girls like me were warned about-too rich, too powerful, too hungry. But when he looked at me, I forgot to breathe. "You smell like trouble," he murmured, brushing too close. "And I always chase trouble." I should've walked away. I wasn't a part of his world-his pack, his empire, his violence. But his voice curled around my spine, warm and wicked. His touch wasn't gentle. It was possessive, electric, like he already owned me. And maybe he did. Because when his hand brushed mine, something ancient stirred. Something wild. My body didn't flinch-it leaned. My heart didn't race,it surrendered. He smelled like rain and danger. He moved like a predator but kissed like a secret. Scarlett didn't ask. He took. Claimed. Marked. And as much as I wanted to hate him, I couldn't. Not when every part of me burned to be his. This wasn't fate. It was obsession. And it would either set me free... or destroy us both.

Chapter 1 The Fearless Encounter

The moon hung high over the city, its silver glow bathing the skyline in an ethereal light. Below, the streets buzzed with the pulse of a world that never slept-a world of danger, secrets, and power. But tonight, it wasn't the city's criminal underworld that had Scarlett Jones' attention. It was the man standing in the center of it all: Kevin.

Scarlett's heels clicked against the polished marble floor of the penthouse, each step deliberate as she cut through the crowd of society's elite. The gala was meant to be a statement-her father's influence, her pack's power on full display-but Scarlett wasn't here to play those games. No, tonight was about one thing only: the unspoken rivalry between the Blackstone Pack and the Cain Syndicate, embodied in the form of Kevin.

He was everything the Blackstone Pack loathed. A threat. A rival. A predator. But Scarlett couldn't deny the pull that had always drawn her to him-a tension so thick it could suffocate you. Kevin's dark eyes followed her every movement, like a hunter watching his prey.

She wasn't sure what was worse: the fact that he could see right through her or the way his gaze made her feel like she was the one being hunted.

Her lips curled into a smirk as she approached him, every inch of her presence a challenge, an invitation to something dangerous. "You look out of place, Kevin," she said, her voice laced with both amusement and a hint of warning.

Kevin's lips quirked into a grin, his eyes narrowing in that knowing way that made Scarlett's heart beat a little faster. "I could say the same about you, Scarlett. But then again, you've always been a bit of a mystery."

She stopped in front of him, close enough to feel the heat radiating from his body, close enough to smell the scent of leather and something more primal, something that spoke of untamed power. His scent, like everything about him, was intoxicating, drawing her in against her better judgment.

"You know exactly what I'm doing here," Scarlett murmured, her gaze locking with his. "But let's not pretend this is business, Kevin. You never come to these things unless you want something."

His smile deepened, a glint of something dark and possessive flashing in his eyes. "I want what I've always wanted, Scarlett." His voice dropped to a dangerous whisper, one that only she could hear. "You."

Scarlett's breath hitched, but she refused to let him see how much his words affected her. Instead, she straightened, her chin tilting up in defiance. "You think you can just waltz in here and claim me, like I'm some trophy to be won?"

Kevin's smile didn't falter. "I don't have to claim you. You've already chosen me, even if you won't admit it."

Her heart raced, a mix of anger and something else-something dangerous-spreading through her veins. "You're delusional if you think I'll ever follow you."

He stepped closer, his breath warm against her ear as he whispered, "I'm not asking you to follow me, Scarlett. I'm offering you the chance to lead. With me."

Scarlett's pulse quickened. She had always known that the Cain Syndicate was dangerous, but she hadn't realized just how deeply Kevin's obsession ran. He wasn't just after power. He was after her. And as much as she hated to admit it, part of her wasn't sure she could resist him much longer.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Kevin," she warned, her voice low and steady. "And you don't even know the rules."

"Maybe," he said, his fingers brushing against hers, sending a jolt of electricity through her. "But I'm not afraid of the danger. In fact, I thrive on it."

The air between them thickened with tension, and for a moment, everything else faded away-the party, the pack, the mafia politics. It was just the two of them, locked in a battle neither of them was willing to lose.

Scarlett turned away first, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing her falter. She needed to keep her distance. To remember who she was-and more importantly, who she wasn't.

But as she walked away, a feeling settled deep in her chest, a warning she couldn't ignore. Kevin wasn't going to let her go so easily. And in the end, she wasn't sure if she wanted him to.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
