Chapter 1 MY FRIEND

It was a day to take our basic four third term result, I knew I would not fall but there again afraid of a poor result. Getting to school that day, I was so cold till when our teacher start giving out our results to us. When I heard her call me, "Ibe Peace"!! "Ma'am" I replied rushing out to collect my result. "Keep it up" she said to me smiling.

After seeing my result coming out the 4th in the class of 34, I went back home to show my parents. My parents praise me for my results but I know deep inside me that it was not my best effort.

Later in the evening, I went to my friend's house to her result. She is usually the first or second in the class. Getting there, I saw Jennifer's praising their daughter on how well she did. On seeing me, she invited me over to come see the bicycle her dad bought for her in excitement "Peace come come my daddy bought me a new bicycle" I felt so happy for her "wow congratulations my friend " I smiled. "Thank you. Let us go on a ride" she said smiling.

Unlike me, Jennifer was always a reading type. We call her the book worm and she is the only child of her parents. It took her parents eight years before they gave birth to her. They treated and pampered her like a queen. On the other hand, I am the sixth child and fifth daughter of my parents. My parents had six beautiful girls and a male child.

Jennifer offered to be my friend because she noticed I had no friends and I was always bullied in school. We became so close in school and did a lot of things together. She became the only person that I could talk to. So many children were so envious of us especially the bullies.
