Chapter 1 The ultimate betrayal

I dashed up the stairs to where David's house was, my heart pounding so violently it felt like it might burst from my chest. He hadn't answered a single one of my calls or messages, and every second of silence had been driving me closer to madness. My wolf, Elena, had been restless-pacing furiously in the back of my mind. She usually adored our mate, worshipped him even, but now... now she was tense, on edge, and frighteningly silent. And that silence spoke louder than any growl ever could.

I forced myself to ignore the gnawing feeling in my chest. It was very possible David had just been busy with training-after all, he was next in line to become Alpha of the Blue Blood Pack. And his father, Demon, was relentless. The man knew exactly how to break someone down, to mold them into the perfect leader. That had to be it. That had to be the reason David had been ignoring my calls... not because something was wrong. Not because he was pulling away. Right?

Even so, it was strange-too strange-for him to ignore me like this. No matter how busy David got, he always found a moment, even just a second, to check in. The silence between us had stretched too long, and it felt wrong in my bones.

It was eerily quiet when I stepped into the mansion. The Blue Blood Pack mansion was never quiet. It was always alive with movement, voices, and the energy of wolves coming and going. But now... now it felt like walking into a tomb.

I stepped further inside. "David?" I called out, my voice echoing through the stillness. Still no answer. Maybe he's just resting after a long day of training, I told myself, trying to soothe the unease gnawing at my chest.

A soft smile spread across my face at the thought. The image of him fast asleep, sweat still clinging to his brow after pushing himself too hard, made my heart ache with affection. He always overworks himself..

If that's the case, I thought, I'll tease him about ignoring me all day. He'll groan like he always does, pretend to be annoyed... then pull me into his arms and bury me against his chest like nothing else matters.

I smiled at the thought, the image so vivid it almost felt real. Everything will be fine... it has to be.

I reached his bedroom, my heart thudding with a mix of hope and nerves. The door was slightly ajar, light spilling out into the hallway. I stepped closer-and that's when I heard it.

A woman's voice.

Soft. Playful. Intimate.

In that instant, my entire world began to crumble. My head spun, my breath caught in my throat as I pushed the door open.

And there he was-David. Lying in bed.

With her.

Everything inside me shattered.

The person I found with David wasn't just any woman.

It was Lily.

My sister.

My own blood.

I froze, unable to breathe, unable to think. There they were-tangled together beneath the sheets, skin to skin, bodies moving in a rhythm so intimate it made me sick. His touch, his whispers, the way he held her-it was everything I once believed was meant for me.

And she... she didn't even flinch.

She looked back at him like he belonged to her.

With her. My sister.

The betrayal cut deeper than any blade ever could.

I walked in-calm, collected, unbothered on the outside, though inside, I was breaking apart piece by piece.

They didn't notice me at first, too lost in their twisted moment. I took another step, slower this time, letting my heels echo across the wooden floor like a warning.

"I see you've both made yourselves... comfortable," I said, my voice sharp and cold, laced with venom I didn't bother to hide.

David froze.

Lily's eyes widened in shock.

But it was too late.

The damage was done.

For a moment, I couldn't breathe.

I stood there frozen, as if the world had stopped spinning. The mate bond between David and me blazed like a wildfire, but instead of warmth, all it brought was searing pain. It burned through my chest, my veins, my soul-every part of me screaming in agony.

My wolf, Elena, howled inside me-a raw, guttural cry of betrayal and heartbreak. She thrashed against the walls of my mind, torn between rage and sorrow. The pain we felt wasn't just emotional-it was physical, like being torn apart from the inside out.

Our mate. Our bond. Our trust... shattered.

David scrambled to get up, guilt flashing across his face, but he didn't make it far. Lily's hand shot out, grabbing his arm, pulling him back down beside her.

And then I saw it-her smirk.

That wicked, knowing smirk that made my blood run cold. She didn't bother hiding her satisfaction. She just pulled the sheet lazily over herself, as if she hadn't just destroyed everything I held dear.

Her eyes met mine, smug and triumphant.

She wanted me to see this. She wanted to break me.

David sighed, dragging a hand through his messy hair, avoiding my eyes.

"It's... not exactly what it looks like," he muttered, voice low, almost shameful.

Not exactly? He didn't even bother to deny it. Didn't flinch. Didn't fight for me.

My mate-the one who was supposed to protect me, love me, cherish me-stood there, wrapped in betrayal, and gave me excuses instead of truth.

The pain deepened, spreading through me like poison.

Was this what the bond meant to him? Was I so easy to discard

With my sister?" I whispered, my voice trembling, barely holding itself together. "Of all people, David... my sister?"

The words tasted like ash on my tongue. I could hardly believe I was saying them out loud. My heart felt like it was being crushed under the weight of betrayal, each beat more painful than the last.

I took a shaky breath, staring at the man I once believed was my forever-and the girl I had once shared secrets and childhood memories with.

"How could you?" I choked out, eyes stinging. "How could you both do this to me?.

Lily remained unfazed, completely unaffected by the storm unraveling around us. She crossed her arms over her chest, the sheet slipping slightly, but she didn't care.

"Oh, stop it, Vicky," she said with a smirk, rolling her eyes. "Spare me the tears."

Her voice dripped with mockery, as if my pain was an inconvenience, a performance she was bored of watching. There wasn't a hint of remorse in her eyes-only cold satisfaction.

She wanted to see me break. Here's a more intense and dramatic version of your scene:

I turned slowly toward her, my jaw clenched, the ache in my chest tightening with every breath.

"Excuse me?" I said, my voice low, dangerous.

Lily didn't even flinch. Instead, she brought her fingers to her lips and let out a soft, mocking "Shhh."

Then she turned to David, as if I were nothing more than background noise.

"David needs a strong Luna," she said sweetly, stroking his arm. "Someone who matches his ambition. His power."

She looked back at me with a smug shrug. "And you? You're just... you."

The words hit like a slap. Dismissive. Cruel. Designed to cut deep-and they did.

It felt like I'd been stabbed in the chest-sharp, merciless, and deep. My breath hitched as the weight of his words pressed down on me like a collapsing world.

David sighed deeply, not even looking me in the eye.

"She's right, Vicky," he said quietly, as if that would soften the blow. "I never truly saw you as... my strong Luna."

There it was.

The final crack that shattered everything.

Not just the betrayal, not just the lies-but the confirmation that I was never enough for him. Not in his eyes. Not in his heart.

Elena was in a frenzy-howling in pure, unfiltered rage. She clawed at the edges of my mind, demanding blood, vengeance, justice for the betrayal that had just ripped us apart.

She wanted to tear them both to pieces, to make them feel even a fraction of the pain we were drowning in.

And I... I wanted it too.

I stood there, trembling, my nails digging into my palms, my breath coming in sharp, uneven gasps. I imagined them broken-admiring how easily I could destroy everything they had built in one moment.

But the mate bond... it held me captive.

Like chains of fire wrapped around my soul, it refused to let me go. No matter how shattered I was, no matter how much I hated him, the bond clung to me-tight and suffocating.

I was bound to the man who destroyed me.

Here's a deeply emotional and dramatically refined version of that moment:

"I wish I were dead," I whispered, the words barely escaping my lips-fragile and broken.

David let out a sharp, humorless laugh that pierced through me like a dagger. "You're supposed to be," i said coldly, but he cut me off before I could even breathe again.

That laugh-so cruel, so shameless-it echoed in my ears like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from.

What an asshole.

He didn't even care to cover himself. He stood there, bare in every sense of the word-his body exposed, his betrayal laid out like a declaration of war.

"Mate bonds are overrated," he scoffed, as if what we had meant nothing. "I need someone who can stand beside me as a strong Luna... not someone the Moon Goddess picked out of pity."

His words were ice against my skin. Each one colder than the last, each one chipping away at whatever was left of me.

"A burden... I'm a burden." The words slipped out of me like poison, bitter and undeniable.

Lily tilted her head, her smirk deepening. "And someone who could actually please him," she added, venom in every syllable.

Rage surged through me like wildfire. I didn't think-I moved. My body lunged before my mind could stop it. I was ready to rip that smug expression off her face.

But I never reached her.

A crushing grip caught me mid-air-David's.

His hand wrapped around my arm like iron, yanking me back with a force that knocked the breath from my lungs. His hold was too strong, his power pressing down on me like a storm I couldn't escape.

"Elena," I whispered in my mind, desperate for her strength.

She was already snarling, clawing, screaming to break free.

"You can't attack her, Vicky," David growled, his grip tightening painfully on my arm. "This happened because of you."

His words struck harder than any blow.

"You're weak. Feeble. You could never match up to my desires... never be the Luna I need."

Each word was like fire to my skin, like knives carving into my chest.

My heart shattered, but something darker began to stir beneath the pieces-something stronger.

"I despise you," I said, my voice low and trembling with fury.

David gave a cold smile, eyes locked on mine. "No, you don't," he said softly, mockingly. "Not in this moment. You still feel it-the bond... the pull."

I swallowed hard, choking on my own rage. He was right-and I hated him even more for it.

Lily scoffed behind him, utterly unbothered. "Just reject her already," she said, waving a hand like I was some pathetic thing clinging to the edge of their perfect little world. "Do her a favor."

David rose from the bed, not bothering to cover his shame. He looked at me with cold finality, no remorse in his eyes-only cruel satisfaction.

"I, David of the Blue Blood Pack," he said, his voice loud and clear, "reject you, Vicky, as my mate."

And just like that... everything crashed.

The bond-the one thing that once bound us in something sacred-snapped. It wasn't gentle. It didn't fade. It shattered like glass under pressure, slicing through me with invisible blades.

I gasped, clutching my chest as if I could hold myself together.

But I was already unraveling.

The pain was indescribable.

It felt like being ripped in two, my soul torn apart from the inside out. My knees buckled, and the world around me blurred. I couldn't feel him anymore-not the warmth, not the connection.

Only silence.

Cold, brutal silence.

Lily and David stared at me with blank expressions, as if I were nothing more than a scene in their twisted show. They expected me to break... to fall to my knees and beg.

But I didn't.

Even as my body trembled and my heart shattered inside my chest, I held my pain like armor-tight, silent, and unforgiving.

I met David's eyes, no longer with love, but with something colder. Stronger.

"I, Vicky Moonlight" I said, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me, "accept your rejection."

A flicker of surprise passed through his eyes, but it was gone just as fast-replaced by that arrogant grin.

He thought he had won.

He had no idea.

You have no clue what's coming for you, I thought, a smirk curling at the corner of my lips.

Without another word, without a single tear, I turned on my heel and walked out-head high, back straight.

I didn't look back.
