(This is a fictional story and does not relate to real life. I am not fluent in English, so my wording might be flawed. Sorry in advance.)
In the world we live in, humans are divided into three different classes: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. This clear distinction exists because individuals with Alpha or Omega traits possess incredibly unique bodies. They are beings who carry animal genes.
Since ancient times, humans have lived alongside animals. In order to preserve their species, some people mated with animals, giving birth to individuals with animal genes. These beast gene carriers not only have the strength and physicality of a wild creature, but they also emit a unique scent called pheromones, as identified by scientists. Pheromones are known as scents used to attract mates or to mark territory. Only those with these special genes can smell each other's pheromones. They can also transform into the primal forms of their ancestors. Meanwhile, Betas are considered ordinary people with no special abilities and no capacity to detect Alpha or Omega scents.
P Sports University is known as a place that nurtures students with an undying passion for sports. It is willing to spend huge amounts of money to build separate facilities for various sports clubs, including ice rinks, basketball courts, swimming pools, and more. Students not only attend tuition free but are also sponsored for competitions. One could say it is nothing short of a paradise. Naturally, a school so focused on athletics does not care much about your academic grades. What you need is a strong body. Therefore, every year during admissions season, P Sports University conducts rigorous physical exams under the supervision of professional doctors. They also offer regular health checkups for students. Blood tests, urine tests, endoscopy, anything they can do to assess your health. That is not all. You must also run five laps around the athletic field and complete one lap of frog jumps. The entire examination process lasts four days, during which all current students of P University are required to assist the faculty in managing admissions.
This year, admissions season has come again, and students are returning to campus. Auren Lysander is helping his friends carry tables out to the schoolyard. Although he does not enjoy being ordered around, Auren cannot say no, especially considering the excellent benefits the university provides. As a second year top student, Auren had already earned several medals in hockey during his first few months at school. Within just five months, he was promoted to captain of the White Bears, the hockey team considered the pride of P University. In addition to his skills, Auren is known for his striking appearance. With fair skin, clear blue eyes that always seem half open in indifference, and an emotionless face, he drives the girls at school crazy.
"Auren, thank you and your team for helping us carry the tables," said a teacher named Mak, giving Auren a pat on the shoulder and looking up at him. "You have gotten even taller. So jealous," Mak joked as he eyed Auren playfully. Auren did not even smile, despite the teasing. "It is nothing," he replied, his deep dry voice emerging from his soft pink lips. Though a bit blunt, his tone had a strange charm. Mak chuckled awkwardly and dismissed Auren and his friends to take a break.
As Auren walked with his friends, a student who was stepping backward suddenly bumped into his chest.
"Oh," the boy gasped and turned around. Their eyes met. Auren frowned deeply, staring at the guy who had just run into him. The man had tanned skin, neatly trimmed black hair, and wide dark eyes that awkwardly looked up at Auren.
"Do you have an eye problem or something?" Auren snapped, and his friends stopped joking around to see what was happening. The boy immediately bowed his head.
"I am sorry. I did not mean to bump into you."
While the boy remained bowed, Auren's gaze shifted down to his chest, where he saw a name tag. He realized the man was a third year martial arts club student named Renior Halek.
"Fine," Auren sighed and looked away. So he is a senior. Might as well let it go. Renior lifted his head, unable to tear his eyes away from Auren's beautiful face. Those long eyelashes gently lowered, hiding his blue eyes like a clam protecting a pearl. Feeling stared at, Auren looked back at Renior with irritation.
"Do you have anything else to say?"
"Ah, no, it is just that you are really good looking." Renior scratched his head shyly, unable to stop the words in his mind from slipping out.
"Sorry. I will go now."
Renior Halek quickly walked off, but after a few steps, he turned his head to glance at Auren again, thinking:
[He is really handsome. Feels like I have seen him somewhere before].
He shook his head.
[No, nothing to do with me.]
Even so, Renior could not get Auren's image out of his mind. Blushing, he hurried toward the hallway doors.
At noon, after his health check, he went to the cafeteria, where his best friend was already waiting. Renior sat down across from him.
"You been waiting long?" Renior asked.
"Just got here. Let us eat. I am starving."
"Yeah, my stomach is growling too," he said, rubbing his stomach over his thin T shirt.
While eating with his friend, Renior took a big bite of the boiled chicken breast he had prepared at home, along with a large box of salad. "His body is really amazing," whispered a group of girls nearby, stealing glances at Renior's physique. They stared at his massive chest and firm round buttocks, practically drooling. Renior, thinking they admired his manly appearance, grew smug.
[Feast your eyes, ladies. I have been training at the gym for over four years.]
Puffing up with pride, Renior flexed his arms, showing off his veins and bulging muscles. The girls looked ready to faint. But the moment was interrupted by Mio, who had been sitting across from him.
"Renior, your face is giving away every single thought in your head," Mio sneered, pointing a fork at him. Still, Renior smiled, flashing his pearly white teeth.
"Hehe, it is rare to get a chance to show off. Look, everyone is falling for me."
"You are so extra."
"Ahhh. Everyone, the White Bears are coming." A student burst into the cafeteria, shouting loudly. The once noisy room fell silent. All eyes turned to the door, where a group of elite Alphas walked in. They were all captivating, especially the man in the middle. None other than Auren. With his arms crossed and his gaze fixed straight ahead, he walked past the gawking crowd. His fair skin and towering height made him stand out even more among his teammates. It was as if no one could look at anyone but Auren, including Renior.
"That guy. I bumped into him this morning."
"You mean Auren?" Mio raised an eyebrow and pointed a thumb at him.
"Yeah. I was not paying attention and ran into him while watching the new students. So his name is Auren, huh." Renior closed his eyes and rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"You seriously do not know him? He is the captain of the White Bears, the hockey team. An Alpha. Rumor has it his family is filthy rich, and even the headmaster adores him. He always gets the best treatment," Mio sighed.
"Alpha? With that pretty face? I thought he was an Omega." Renior slammed both hands on the table, startling Mio.
"You maniac. Ah, you scared me. How can you tell just by looks? The moment he walked in, his pheromones were everywhere. Ah right, you are a Beta," Mio said, slapping his own forehead after realizing.
While Mio kept grumbling, Renior's eyes drifted toward the Alpha group. They smiled at the girls nearby, handsome and tall with shiny hair and athletic builds, but still, none could compare to Auren. Unlike the usual rugged masculine Alpha appearance, Auren looked like a princess with a muscular body. He glanced at the menu, his lips pouting when he could not find anything he liked today, like a spoiled little puppy.
While Mio was still grumbling, Renior had already turned his gaze toward the group of boys. They were smiling at the girls, and those boys were by no means lacking in looks - tall, with smooth shiny hair and well-built bodies. Yet still, they fell short compared to Auren. Unlike the typical Alpha appearance, known for being masculine and strong, Auren looked more like a princess with a muscular physique.
Auren glanced at the school menu, his lips pouting slightly when he couldn't find anything he liked today - he looked just like a spoiled little puppy. Renior couldn't take his eyes off him, until Auren seemed to sense something and turned to look. Renior quickly averted his gaze. His cheeks turned bright red, and his heart pounded like he'd just been caught red-handed.
[Damn it, that was close.]
Renior placed a hand on his chest, clutching the fabric of his T-shirt tightly, feeling the thudding of his heartbeat. What is this feeling? he wondered. He knew he was someone easily drawn to beauty. He looked down at his feet, trying to ignore the strange flutter inside him.
"Hey! Have you even been listening to me this whole time?!" Mio snapped, leaning over to pinch Renior's ear.
"Ah! Ouch, ouch... I was listening!" he groaned, raising both hands to grab Mio's wrist and pull it away.
"You dare fight back?!" Mio growled, pinching even harder.
While the two of them were play-fighting, a cold pair of eyes was watching them. It was none other than Auren, staring intently, unable to stop the strange image forming in his head - a brown bear brawling with a tiger.
[How bizarre] Auren thought to himself.
Just then, a hand lightly rested on his shoulder, pulling him back to reality. His eyes shifted down to see a girl with chin-length hair and bright red lips smiling up at him. Auren let out a quiet sigh.
"What are you thinking about, senior Auren?" she asked softly, her voice laced with a sour edge that made him shiver slightly.
"Nothing," he replied, gently placing an arm around her shoulder.
"Let's go."
He turned and began walking, one arm still resting over the girl's shoulder, the other holding the tray of food he had just received. Even while walking beside a girl, his eyes stole one last glance toward Renior and Mio before turning away and heading to his seat.
