After my arch-nemesis's fiancé was sent abroad, I turned to Xiaohongshu, where a flood of foreigners was pouring in, to crazily look at handsome guys. Little did I know, he caught me red-handed on the spot.
After my nemesis fiancé, Harry Skinner, was sent abroad, I turned my attention to the influx of handsome men on Instagram.
I left countless comments on their posts. "Hey, handsome, you're my dream guy."
Then, I fell asleep from sheer exhaustion.
When I woke up, my phone had exploded with notifications.
First, there was a flood of replies, including one that simply said, "?"
Then, my fiancé reposted countless of my comments, each accompanied by a single "?".
And finally, he messaged me directly. "We are indeed childhood sweethearts, but is this appropriate?"
"Well, so you recognized this is my account, huh? You're lusting after me but too shy to admit it, so you pretend to like others, right?"
"Ivy Gordon, say something!"
"Silence means agreement, right?"
"Fine. I've always known you secretly liked me. Call me honey again, and I will obey you."
"Ah! Even if you're scared of me finding out, you can't say to countless men they are your dream guys."
"I'm heartbroken!"
"What on earth is he getting so worked up about?" I thought.

"You must finalize the engagement with Ivy by the end of this month."
"Why don't you marry her yourself?"
As I walked over with freshly sliced watermelon, I overheard their argument.
I knew they were arguing again.
This was their tenth fight this month.
I sighed inwardly but kept a smile on my face as I placed the watermelon on the table. "Dennis, you must be thirsty. Have some. It's freshly washed."
"Well, you're such a sweetheart, unlike my son... Hmph!" Dennis shot Harry a cold, disdainful glance before turning to me with a beaming smile he couldn't suppress.
Harry looked flustered the moment he saw me. "You heard all that?"
I nodded and broke the watermelon in half, offering him a piece.
"Want some? It's sweet."
Honestly, I had no ulterior motive. The slice was just too big for me to finish, so I thought I'd share.
Harry had a stern face and looked sullen, and seemed to be displeased with my lack of reaction.
He stared at me as if he had suffered a great injustice "Ivy! You! Don't even think about it! I'm telling you, you can't force love, no matter how hard you try."
After saying this, he walked away funnily.
I stared blankly at the half-eaten watermelon in my hand, then at his retreating figure.
Shrugging, I stuffed the other half into my mouth and shook my head in pity. The watermelon was sweet.
His loss.
Dennis, watching from the side, tried to comfort me. "Ivy, don't take it to heart. That brat is all talk and no action. But this time, he went too far. Don't worry. I'll teach him a lesson."
I kept chewing and replied, "Dennis, I'm not upset. I don't care about this."
"Well, you're too kind," he said, cutting me off with an increasingly sympathetic look. He quickly pulled out a card from his wallet and shoved it into my hand.
"Take this. Buy whatever you like. Don't hold back. We're not exactly strapped for cash."
I was overjoyed and put it in my pocket.
To be honest, I didn't care whether Harry married me or not. We'd been fighting like cats and dogs since we were kids. There was no way we'd fall in love.
But our parents were stubborn, insisting on pairing us up. This time, my parents had gone so far as to send me to the Harry household while they went on a business trip.
They even blocked all my escape routes.
What could I do? When I was under someone else's roof, I had to bow my head.
Besides, the monthly allowance my parents gave me barely covered my beloved handbags.
Clutching the card in my pocket, I felt a surge of happiness and ate two more slices of watermelon.
Dennis hesitated for a moment before patting my shoulder. "Listen, Ivy, don't be too upset. I've got a few friends with sons. Every one of them is better than Harry. If you're interested, I can introduce you to them. After all, you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket."
I was so excited about the shopping spree I'd soon be going on that I barely registered what Dennis said. I just nodded enthusiastically. "Not picky at all! Sounds great!"
As soon as the words left my mouth, Harry's bedroom door slammed shut with a loud "bang".
I was startled.
Dennis, clearly annoyed at being interrupted, leaped up from the sofa and shouted upstairs. "You little brat! Are you trying to bring the house down? If I don't teach you a lesson this time, I won't be your father anymore!"
While chaos erupted downstairs, I retreated to my room, enjoying the peace.
It was great that I could go bag shopping again.
