Chapter 1 Broken trust

AMBER

"I'm p-pregnant, Cedric," my voice hitched as I finally found the courage to tell him.

I was nervous but very excited because tomorrow was going to be our first mating anniversary. It was going to be a double celebration because I was carrying his child-his heir.

"Who's the father?" Cedric whispered calmly as he stood in front of the mirror, staring at me through it.

I froze.

My expression turned sour in a split second. This wasn't what I expected at all. What did he mean by that?

"W-what do you mean... babe?" I stuttered, my heart pounding fast.

Cedric turned around and sneered at me, "I mean-who's the father, Amber," he whispered again.

My eyes dimmed as I stared at him, my thoughts swirling in a wind of perplexion, "You...are-" I murmured.

"Oh wow!" Cedric puffed, giving me a warm sneer.

"So you think I wouldn't find out huh? You think you can get f**ked by some fool and then pin your pregnancy on me because I'm your mate?"

"W-what?" I frowned as my lips parted. Was he accusing me of cheating on him? I would never do something like that.

"Babe...what are you talking about?" I whispered, trying to approach him but that moment, he held his phone right in my face.

"Look at these photos and tell me it isn't you!" Cedric muttered. He smirked as if nothing was wrong, but I knew that he was enraged, I could see it through his eyes.

My hands trembled as I took the phone from his hand.

I was completely stunned at the images I saw. Me and someone I don't even know, making out? How did this even happen?

"W-what?" I managed to catch my breath as I kept staring at the strange photos. I turned to Cedric as my vision blurred with tears.

"Please Cedric, I...I didn't...that's not me-I swear." my voice cracked as I trembled violently. I knew those photos weren't real but how could I prove my innocence? Who did this to me?

"B**ch, shut the f**k up would you?!" Cedric suddenly snapped, causing me to flinch. I froze as I stared at him in terror. The fury in his eyes was creepy. I didn't want his wolf to come out because I knew exactly what he was capable of.

"I try to remain calm but you keep pissing me off! You had the guts to cheat on me barely one year after our mating and now you want to lie to me?" Cedric growled, his voice loud and terrifying. I felt completely helpless before him.

"Cedric please-" I cried, falling on my knees before him.

"I don't know how it happened b-but I swear, those photos aren't real, please-" I sobbed, hoping desperately that he would believe me, but it only made matters worse.

"Oh really?" he scoffed, "you really think I'm stupid, uhh?"

I held his right leg tight as I sobbed, begging him to believe me. Why would I cheat on him for anything? He was the only person in the world I had ever been intimate with.

Cedric crouched down slowly towards me. My heart sank as he reached me. He smirked at me and gave out a deep sigh.

"Oh Amber, my beautiful-beautiful Luna," he whispered to my face and began stroking my hair gently.

I felt tingles running down my spine as he touched my hair. I wasn't sure what he was doing.

"I love you," he smiled and pressed his lips hard to my forehead. "I really do Amber, not because your dad was the Alpha before my dad-not at all."

"My love, please-" I whimpered with tears streaming down my cheeks as I held his hand tightly, "someone must have done this...we shouldn't let anyone tear us apart..."

Cedric suddenly swatted my hands away and stood upright. I stared at him as he rolled up his sleeves. For a moment, I thought Cedric wanted to make things right with me but I was wrong.

"You mother is downstairs, you know right?" Cedric murmured, stirring panic in my gut.

"Cedric please...don't do this to me," I cried, still on my knees but he wasn't listening.

"...And, the other pack officials are also downstairs and I suppose they're all waiting for us-" he continued.

"Please don't do this to us-to our child," I sobbed, wrapping my arms gently over my still flat belly, but he ignored me and continued rolling his sleeves.

"What if I drag you down stairs in front of everyone and tell them what you did? Damn! That would be so-so embarrassing, right?" Cedric chucked, giving me a villainous sneer.

I was absolutely petrified. My whole body shivered as I stared at him-fully aware of what was coming. Even if he wants to reject me as his mate, not like this. Not In front of everyone. Not on the night before my anniversary and most certainly not now that I'm carrying his child.

I rushed forward on my knees and held both of his legs, "Please I beg you-" I cried, my arms wrapped around his legs.

"Please don't do this to us. I...I have never been intimate with anyone else but you...I swear..." but he ignored me-he didn't care at all.

In a split second, Cedric grabbed me by my left arm and began dragging me downstairs.

I yelled and cried out loud, fighting hard to break free from his tight grip but he was too strong-I was no match for the Alpha.

My mother heard my cry as Cedric dragged me downstairs and eventually threw me down in front of everyone.

"What is the meaning of this, Ced-"

"Shut your b**ch a*s up, Lyanna!" Cedric growled at her, causing her and everyone else to flinch in terror.

I looked up with tears in my eyes. Everyone, including my mother, was staring down at me, puzzled by what was happening.

"Look at her!" Cedric roared aloud to everyone there, pointing down at me.

"I gave her everything. I loved her. I made her my Luna not because of her father but because I loved her and yet, she cheated on me!"

Everyone suddenly gasped in horror and switched their gaze at me. Their eyes sized me up with contempt, each and every one of them.

"I don't believe you," my mother hissed as she gave me a probing look. "My daughter would never disgrace this pack like that."

I was relieved for a second. Even if everyone thinks I'm lying, at least my mother believed me.

Cedric walked towards my mother and stared deeply at her smirking, his fists clenched hard. "Ooh...really?" he smirked in her face, "Here, take a look!" he whispered, showing her the photos in his phone.

She froze instantly, her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared into his phone. Her mouth was hanging open and soon, tears began to make their way down her cheeks.

"What?..." She gasped and turned towards me, her eyes revealing the words her lips couldn't form.

"Mother..." I murmured as I rushed forward and knelt before her,

"I don't know how it happened, but...tha...that's not me! I promise those photos are fake..., please mother, tell him I would never do something like that, tell-" Before I could finish speaking, My mother turned her back and walked out of the living room without saying a word to me.

"Mother please!" I yelled, "I'm innocent!" but she didn't listen and walked out, leaving me there as I bawled my eyes out.

"Cedric please...don't do this to us," I cried as I turned to Cedric but he pushed me away.

"There is no *us* Amber!" he snapped, "Everyone here can testify that my so-called mate betrayed me by sleeping with someone else! The evidence is right here. You all know what happens to such mates!"

Immediately, I knew what was coming. The consequences were straight rejection and banishment from the pack. I had already been humiliated enough but it was nothing compared to what was coming.

"Amber Lucent!" Cedric roared, his stare piercing into my soul,

"I...reject you as my mate and Luna of the Lucent pack. I would have banished you right now if not for your father!"

Cedric's words pierced deeply into my heart like a double edged sword. I bowed my head in distress, sobbing hysterically. But Cedric wasn't done yet.

"Now grab your stuff and get the f**k out of my house! I don't want to see you here when I get back, you ungrateful b**ch!"

As soon as he said this, he walked out of the house and drove off.

Not a single pack official defended me. They all stood there as Cedric accused me and none of them said a single word-everyone was scared of Cedric.

Immediately, I took my phone out and dialed Astrid's number. She was my best friend and the only one I can turn to.

"What's up-babe?" Astrid's voice carried through the phone.

"A-Astrid...I...I need...you, please-" I stuttered as tears kept flowing down my cheeks.

"Amber-Amber calm down," Astrid soothed me, her tone laced with; worry as she knew I wasn't okay.

"Why are you crying?-Amber, what's wrong?"

"Astrid-" I managed to get a hold of myself, "I need your help-"
