In my past life, after the real wealthy heiress returned, I, as the adopted daughter, was inexplicably manipulated by a system, which led me to hurt my loving family. It was only after I died tragically in a car accident that I realized the system controlling me was actually a tool used by the real heiress, who exchanged ten lifetimes of hard work to deprive me of my fortune. The moment I opened my eyes, I found myself back to the time when the real heiress had just returned to the Xia family. However, in this life, I was surprised to discover that the person bound by the system had become the real heiress.

Chapter 1

I was adopted by the Reynolds family. I got to know it when I was a little girl.

I had heard that the Reynolds family's only daughter went missing at a very young age, while I grew up in an orphanage, struggling with hunger and inadequate clothing.

By sheer fortune, during a charity event, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds noticed me and decided to adopt me as their daughter.

It happened when I was four years old. According to them, I was the same age as their daughter, who was missing.

I had an elder brother, Austin Reynolds. He was two years older than me and was nice to me.

When I turned twenty, the Reynolds family found their real daughter, Ella Reynolds. From then on, I discovered that I could no longer control my own body.

It was suffocating and despairing to be trapped inside my own body while it moved against my will.

After being manipulated into committing one disgraceful act after another, the Reynolds family finally gave up on me. They gave me a sum of money and kicked me out of the Reynolds family.

At the moment of my car accident, I vaguely heard a cold, robotic voice. "Mission complete!"

I jolted awake. The searing pain was still coursing through my body. I gasped for air while looking at the worried woman in front of me. She was Rebecca Hoyles, my adopted mother.

I was dazed for a moment. The woman had delicate features. Her face showed signs of aging, but she clearly took good care of herself. Her fair fingers were tightly holding my hand in concern.

The worry in her eyes finally dissipated as she saw me awake. She gave a smile. "Phoebe, you're finally awake! You have no idea how worried I was! How could you suddenly faint like that?"

"I think Phoebe was just too excited about meeting her sister soon," a clear male voice chimed in from behind. Rebecca gave him a mock scolding look.

I sat up on the sofa, and a wave of joy surged through me. I had read many novels and immediately understood that I had been reborn.

I quickly clung to Rebecca's arm and defended Austin, saying, "Austin is right. I was just too excited... I didn't mean to worry you, Mom."

Rebecca had always been fond of her sensible daughter. She immediately comforted me, saying, "Don't get too thrilled. Your father will be home soon with Ella."

I nodded. In my previous life, Ella had walked through the door at this exact moment, dressed in a threadbare, faded dress. Rebecca had intended to take her upstairs to change her clothes, but Ella had rushed over to me and started crying about her poverty.

Back then, I was under the system's control and had pushed her to the floor. I even taunted her that she didn't deserve nice clothes. Albert had been angry with my behavior, but she didn't say anything.

However, I had clearly seen Ella throw me a provocative glance as Rebecca took Ella upstairs.

As I was recalling what happened in my previous life, the door creaked open slightly. A girl in a dusty, worn-out dress was revealed.

She cautiously stepped into the room, followed by Albert. He seemed to have an expression of disdain.

Ella was timid on her way home, which was understandable. But Albert saw clearly the greed and delight in her eyes after she learned that she was his daughter. She didn't look like a member of the Reynolds family at all.

Albert felt a headache coming on, as he was unsure whether it was the right decision to take Ella back.

As Ella entered the room, her demeanor suddenly changed. She looked at me up and down with an inexplicable arrogance. She silently declared that Phoebe was the impostor who took Ella's place."

Rebecca noticed the change in Ella's demeanor, of course. Her unease flickered across her face. She had hoped her two daughters could get along.

If Ella and Phoebe couldn't get along well with each other, Rebecca wouldn't know whom to side with. Phoebe was the adopted daughter who had grown up with the family for more than a decade, while Ella was the real daughter who had suffered years of hardship away from home.
