Chapter 1 Annabel call to faith

In the heart of a verdant forest, where sunlight filtered through the leaves and danced upon the ground, a secluded convent stood, transformed into a peaceful monastery. Its towering structure, adorned with clinging ivy and vibrant flowers, rose like a fortress from the embrace of the lush wilderness. The air was fresh and cool, filled with the scents of ripe fruits and roses hanging from the branches of the surrounding garden, creating a picturesque scene that captivated all who entered.

Families traveled from near and far, excitedly taking pictures as the sounds of "Click! Clack!" echoed around them. Little children laughed and played in the inviting environment, while some visitors brought snacks and drinks, and others held fruit baskets, standing close to the trees and using long sticks to pull down the fruit, some Nun stood by a few persons talking to them about the coming of Christ and how to live a holy life. Many families gathered in the garden, drawn to it, as scripture conveyed that trees symbolize God's redemption and represent strength, individuality, calmness, and growth.

Among these families was the Johnson family, who had established a monthly tradition of visiting the convent twelve times in a full year. This ritual was sparked by their only daughter, Annabel-an inquisitive girl with bright eyes, drawn to the nuns like a moth to a flame. She entered with her family, feeling happy and relaxed, each member contributing to the warm atmosphere. Her mother held her firmly to keep her from mingling with the other children in the garden, while her father led them all down the path to the convent.

From the moment Annabel stepped into the sprawling gardens, she felt enchanted, not only by the beauty of the surroundings but also by the serene grace of the young, kind nun. Each nun emanated warmth and charm, wearing a distinctive attire, often clutching a rosary. While Annabel had never spoken to anyone since her visits began, she only spoke to her mum, asking her so many questions. This day proved different and alarming, While meandering around the convent and waiting for her parents to conclude their prayers, a loud noise erupted from inside. Instantly, she left her parents to investigate. Upon entering, she discovered a sister lying on the floor, facing a staircase and backing the pathway, holding her leg and groaning in pain. Rushing to her side, Annabel asked how she could help.

"Call for help, please!" the sister cried out, tears streaming down her face. Feeling a wave of sympathy, Annabel hurriedly sprinted back to her parents, shouting, "Mummy! Daddy! Someone needs your help!" Her parents quickly rushed to the scene and carried Sister Majella to the sick bay for medical attention. Sister Majella had fallen down the staircase and sprained her ankle, it didn't look good because it was a dislocation. Afterward, her parents commended Annabel for her bravery and quick thinking.

As dusk approached, the Johnson family packed every one of their items and began their journey back home. Annabel admired the convent, appreciating the nuns' uniforms and the sense of order they brought to the environment. Everyone seemed neat and tranquil.

The next day, Annabel could hardly stop thinking about her experience and looked forward to returning to the convent again.

Seasons passed, and the Johnson family continued their visits, often coming to pray. Annabel spent much of her time admiring the beauty of the surroundings and the people who inhabited the convent.

On one particular day, Sister Majella spotted Annabel from a distance and called out to her, though Annabel did not initially recognize her. Sister Majella waved frantically until Annabel turned around; in that moment, recognition sparked, and she ran immediately to hug the nun. "Finally, I get to speak to a sister in the convent!" she exclaimed. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," Sister Majella replied, and Annabel beamed with happiness as she asked about the sister's injured leg. Grateful, Sister Majella thanked Annabel for her help.

"My name is Sister Majella," she introduced herself. "What's yours?"

"I'm Annabel Johnson," she replied, and the two engaged in conversation for quite a while.

Annabel and Sister Majella wove a tapestry of cherished memories, she took Annabel on a tour of every segment of the convent, telling her the reasons for the statue mounted in some areas of the convent, she also took Annabel to the garden and told her the meaning of the fruits planted in the garden, afterwards Annabel brought out her tablet and begin to capture photographs that encapsulated their joyful moments together. Just in, Annabel's parent came out in search of her and saw sis majella, she took the position of introducing sis majella officially to her parent and also reminded them of rescuing her on the previous visit. Sis Majella was delighted and thanked Annabel's family for saving her from the pain of dislocation. That day was undeniably one of Annabel's most memorable days.

As Annabel matured from a carefree child to a thoughtful teenager, she felt increasingly drawn to the convent life and longed to join the nuns. Yet, it was Sister Majella who held a special place in Annabel's heart. With her kind demeanor and gentle spirit, Sister Majella became a nurturing influence in Annabel's life. They formed an unbreakable bond, sharing afternoons exploring flower-laden paths and storytelling beneath the branches of ancient trees. During one of these serene conversations, Annabel confided her desire to follow in Sister Majella's footsteps and become a nun. Sister Majella rejoiced and thanked God for another soul drawn to Him through her faith. She encouraged Annabel to discuss her aspirations with her parents first.

"I want to dedicate my life to God," Annabel declared one afternoon, her voice filled with emotion. "I've thought about it a lot, Sister Majella. It feels right in my heart."

Sister Majella's eyes sparkled with appreciation, but she remained contemplative. "You must be sure, dear child. The path of a nun is profound; it requires dedication and unwavering commitment." Nonetheless, Annabel's decision stood firm. When she finally communicated her aspiration to her parents, they reacted with disbelief. They had envisioned a different future for her-one filled with laughter and love, far from the solemnity of convent life, she was their only child. Her mother eventually supported Annabel's decision, but her father proved harder to convince. He grew angry whenever she brought up her desire, ultimately leading him to prevent the family from visiting the convent for some time.

As Annabel's growing passion for convent life and her gradual adoption of its routines became evident, her parents began to reconsider their initial reservations. Over time, they started to appreciate the joy and peace that the convent brought their daughter, eventually coming to a mutual agreement to support her choice. Annabel was overjoyed, eagerly anticipating her new life alongside the other sisters. This was going to be a new beginning for her.

After several weeks, her parents returned to the convent to inquire about the enrollment process. They were informed about the required documents and prerequisites for joining. Following this visit, they gathered all the necessary items for Annabel's admission and began to prepare her things together for a fresh start.
