Chapter 1 Protocol was broken at the first kiss
The music blasted in the central plaza, enveloped in neon lights, bodies glistening with sweat, and an electric energy that seemed to suspend the air. It was a community party, organized by the municipality, with food tents, makeshift bars, and a VIP area for regular guests.
Valeria hadn't expected to stay so long. She'd come out of obligation, with some friends, but the vibrant atmosphere ended up captivating her. Her short red satin dress clung to her skin, and the heat of the night-coupled with a couple of drinks-had her feeling a little more uninhibited than usual.
And then she saw them.
Two police officers patrolled the perimeter of the event, attentive but relaxed. The younger one had an easy smile, a mischievous look, and a charming audacity. The other... well, the other was something else.
