Chapter 1.
Emra Pov.
Regent Luna Lena has been blabbing about Luna duties and my responsibilities when I officially become the Luna of Silver Moon Pack. My mind traveled as she spoke, I could only remember her opening remark but the rest fell into oblivion.
She spent hours describing her son, Garren who was the Alpha of Silver Moon Pack and my soon to be husband. Painting him as a sweet candy but as bitter as gale inside. Garren was the biggest jerk to exist on this planet. He lived for himself and oppressed those beneath him, clearly I wasn't elates to become the Luna of a tyrant.
Looking at it on the bright side, I might be able to change the packs system for good but that is if I marry him, and that hasn't been embedded in my dictionary.
"My sweet boy Garren loves his ladies prim and proper." She said, staring at me with the narcissistic smirk known to the Widbirth dynasty. "Do you understand?"
"Yes Luna." I answered, ducking my head to avoid her attacking gaze. I don't want to be here, I don't want to get married to Garren. Can the moon goddess be a little lenient and grant me a less complicated fate ?
"Regent Lena, news from your hometown" an attendant walked into the training room. A smile crawled on my face, finally ; a cue to leave.
"Excuse me Luna." I cut their discussion, slightly bowing. "My motherjust mind linked me, the dress for the engagement is ready and ready for testing. May I have you-'
"Permission?" She raised a brow before chuckling. "Shoo. Go and make sure you look like the stunning queen Garren expects."
I nodded as I sprinted out of the room, finally able to breathe in fresh air. The Silver Moon Pack was a large pack but not as enormous as the neighbouring packs. Due to residential issues, my family decided to settled outside the borders not just for residing but my parents were patrol warriors. They ensured the safety of the pack from the border.
I was grateful for their choice, in a way it prevented me from the drama Garren's life created, the number of she wolves he had been involved with was so alarming. Thankfully, I seldomly had to deal with them.
"Emra? What are you doing here? Are you done with your training with Reg-"
I cut her off with a raise of my hand. "Yes." I said affirmatexly, chugging down a glass of water from the chiller.
"Then did you see Garren?" She pressed on, leaning against the kitchen counter, wiping her hands against the apron.
I suppressed myself from rolling my eyes. My parents has been really invested in my marriage with Garren, despite knowing what an awful person he was.
"I did not " I clipped, chugging down another glass.
"And why is that young lady?" My father's voice interrupted as he came into view, his demeanor commanding as his narrowed down on me. "I have told you building your connection with him is more important than those lessons."
"Don't say that." My mother said painfully. "Luna regent training is also vital, Emra is lucky. Right Emra?"
"Right." I nodded, trying to stay focused on my control as the irritation threatened to consume me. In my defense i pressed on. "Garren never makes time to see me, he is always quite busy whenever I come around the pack."
"He is an Alpha, what do you expect." My father chipped in from the solfa he sat, downing a glass of beer.
How on earth did he become the head of packs patrol ?
"You have to make out time and sacrifice those times you spend with Mia," he said disapprovingly. "Garren is your mate and you have to build your bond."
Irritation crawled up my spine, breaking through my defenses. "I don't want to be mated with Garren!"
"What did you say?" My father asked coldly.
"I said I want no interest in this marriage or mating!" I repeated, my whole body vibrating. Normally, I shouldn't speak to them in such manner but the anger pumping out of me was too much to hold in. I've been keeping this feeling bottled up for a long time and it's high time I let it out. I looked to my mother for help but she stared blankly me. "You and Mom met out of love for each other, but you're forcing me to marry a jerk!"
"Do not talk about you Alpha like that in this house!" My mother cautioned, leaving the kitchen at once.
"Enough!" My father roared, getting on his feet. Two pairs of angry eyes stared down at me and the urge to crawl into my shell was so strong, but I stayed put not making my flinch or fear visible. "What you want is of no significance. The moon goddess mated you right from when you were young, you can't back out now!"
He said with a tone of finality and stormed upstairs, my mother on his trail.
"Hmph!" I raised my nose at their retreating figure and stomped outside, slamming the back door with a loud bang as I walked into my safe haven. My garden. I breathed in the air of life, the fresh green planet, the warm setting sun against my skin all made me feel light and refreshed.
A loud thumb alerted me, my heart race spiked as I cautiously searched around. "Who's there?"
"Chill, it's just me." Mia, my best friend came out from behind the greet removing dead leaves from her hair, a playful grin on her face.
"Just the person I was expecting to see.." I breathed a sigh of relief. We hugged eachother and settled on the garden chair. The air was peaceful, my mind was calm. With Mia that was how it has always been.
"I heard your parents complaining ." She broke the silence.
I turned to her exasperatedly. "I don't want to be mated with Garren. You of all people know how much of a jerk he is."
Mia let out a quiet hum. She then glanced up at me mischievously. "How about we go somewhere to unwind ?"
"It's too late to go to the library."
She flicked my forehead playfully, getting on her feet. A smirk rested on her lips.
"Who's talking about the library? Nerd." She laughed. "C'mon. A little alcohol for a clouded soul."
