Varda's POV
"Yes! I want you! I want more of you!" The sound of the familiar feminine moan caused me to clutch the hem of my shirt tight and bite my lower lip to stop myself from breaking down into tears.
I leaned closer to the door with a hitched breath, my hands reached for the door knob but I struggled to pull it open. Perhaps it was because my hands were shaky or maybe it was because I was afraid to see what was on the inside.
"Oh damn it!" My fiance, Alex moaned in satisfaction. My heart began to race extremely fast as I pondered on what next to do. Even if I did barge in, what was I to say? How was I supposed to confront a man I would be getting married to the next day?
I turned around and shook my head in disagreement, I was not going to confront him. Rather, I was going to pretend like I never even heard them in the first place.
Just as I was about to take a step down the stairs, my ringing tone blared out loud startling me. Alex and Emma had paused whatever they were doing and i could now hear footsteps drawing closer to the door.
I muttered a cuss under my breath, I hastily put my phone on DND and tossed it into my pockets. Just as I was about to rush downstairs, it was too late because the door already flew open wide and Alex was standing by the door, shirtless.
"Hi babe." I forced a smile on my face, pretending like I had not just heard him moaning in satisfaction at my best friend.
"What are you doing here?" Alex snapped at me. I choked out a nervous chuckle before shrugging in response. "I just wanted to hang out with you before our wedding. You know it is going to be quite hectic tomorrow and we will not have time for each other, we will both be busy attending to guests." I said.
Alex scoffed and rolled his eyes at me. "Whatever. As you can see, or as you have heard.." he paused to open the door to his room wide, revealing my supposed best friend, Emma lying naked on Alex's bed.
Our eyes met and Emma hastily covered her face in shame. "Alex, come on! This was supposed to be a secret between the both of us." She whined.
My heart broke. I felt like I had been punched in the guts. I mean I knew it was Emma judging by the sound of her voice but seeing her lying comfortably on my own fiance's bed, it broke my heart into pieces.
I was not even mad at Alex. I mean how could I be?
My relationship with Alex had always been an open relationship, at least so he called it. Alex was a playboy, he loved changing women like they were some kind of item.
The only thing that kept me with Alex was the huge debt that my family owed his family. Alex's grandfather had borrowed my dad a huge amount of money as capital for a business. Long story cut short, dad's business flopped and as the oldest daughter, I was sold to Alexander McCall.
Alex and I only dated for five months and his grandfather's wish was that Alex marries me. I was surprised when his grandfather was able to convince him to get married. I mean Alex was the most famous billionaire playboy in the city.
"Perhaps, would you like to join us? To make it a threesome?" Alex winked at me with a huge grin plastered on his face. I clutched my fist tight and allowed the tears to roll down my cheeks. Emma was supposed to be my bridesmaid for tomorrow's wedding, how could she do this to me?
Without wasting anymore time, I turned to Alex and said. "I will see you tomorrow at the wedding."
With tears in my eyes and a aching heart, I rushed down the stairs and hastily made my way out of the mansion. My heart began to beat rapidly as I boarded a taxi to my home. I could hear my ringing tone blaring out loud but I chose to ignore it because I could already guess who the caller was. It was Emma and i was not ready to hear any stupid excuse from her.
I rubbed my temple in frustration and tried to calm myself down, in less than hour, the taxi driver pulled his cab into my driveway.
I got off the cab and handed the driver a ridiculously high amount of money without caring. All I wanted to do was sleep away my sorrows. Luckily for me, my parents were not home, I was the only one left alone to wallow in my own misery.
I spent the entire day crying my eyes out and trying to reconsider the whole marriage thing with Alexander McCall. I mean it was not like I had a choice, my parents were the one who pushed me into this mess.
The next morning came by so fast. I was woken up by my mother to get prepared for the wedding. Emma, my supposed brides maid had not showed up yet, as a matter of fact, I had a huge feeling that she was not going to show up, the guilt she felt would never let her to.
The preparations were set and just as my father was about to walk me down the aisle, a loud gunshot erupted the air causing a pandemodium to arise.
My heart raced heavily as everyone tried to get themselves to safety, the smoke in the athmosphere blurred my vision and made it difficult for me to run.
All I could hear was shouts and screams of pain accompanied by gunshot noises.
I suddenly felt a tight grip on my wrist. With fear written all over my face, I turned around to gaze at the culprit. It was Alexander dressed handsomely in a tuxedo. I sighed in relief and just as Alexander was about to say something to me, another sound of gunshot cut him halfway his sentence.
The next thing that happened was so fast and the last thing I could remember before succumbing to the darkness was Alexander's body falling flat to the floor, covered in his own pool of blood.
