Chapter 1 Becoming a Killer

"Young Madam, the Master has returned."

Aileen let out a soft breath and smiled at Bi Surti. "Bi, could you buy me this same body lotion from the supermarket?" No matter what happened, even if it cost her life, she would never involve Bi Surti in any of it.

In this vast villa of Azure Hills Estate, Bi Surti was the only one she could consider 'family'.

Bi Surti replied with full sincerity, "Of course, Young Madam. Would you like a different scent or the exact same one?"

"Just get the same one."

"Very well..."

As Bi Surti was about to step out, Aileen quickly stopped her. "Bi Surti," she said, removing her necklace-her only valuable possession. "You've cared for me so well all this time. I hope this can be of use to you someday." Aileen felt it necessary to show her appreciation.

Bi Surti was about to politely refuse, but from the corner of her eye, she saw a pair of polished black shoes-belonging to her master, Axel Ferdian-entering the Young Madam's room.

Not daring to linger any longer, she thanked Aileen, politely greeted Axel, and hurried out.

As soon as Bi Surti left, the room was filled with an inexplicable tension.

Aileen calmly continued brushing her hair. This time, she wouldn't be the one to greet her husband first. She didn't even feel the need to look at Axel, who now stood right behind her, holding a sheet of paper.

Feeling ignored, Axel cleared his throat before speaking, "This is the divorce paper I've signed. Read it if you want, or just sign it straight away so this can be over..."

Aileen didn't respond. She had already overheard talk of this divorce when she passed Axel's study and saw him speaking to his mother, Madam Ferdian.e

With a heart that had long since frozen, Aileen accepted the document and skimmed through it.

Under the reason for divorce, it clearly stated, "In three years of marriage, Aileen has never respected her in-laws and has not borne any children!"

Suddenly, Aileen burst into loud laughter, revealing her perfect white teeth between her soft, full lips.

Axel's face turned red, then purple. His expression shifted through a spectrum of colors, as if he had just completed a stunning watercolor masterpiece on canvas.

"What are you laughing at?" Axel caught the sharp scent of gasoline in the air but ignored it.

This was not the time to worry about something so trivial!

Aileen covered part of her beautiful face with the divorce paper, still laughing. "Just laughing at the joke that was these three years of my life!"

"Aileen...!"

For the past three years, she had dedicated herself to the Azure Hills Estate, catering to every whim of her husband and in-laws.

She had even gone so far as to accept her husband maintaining a relationship with the woman he loved-and eventually marrying her-completely disregarding her own feelings.

She thought it was only right, after everyone in the city of Senden said that her family had tricked Axel into marrying her.

Their marriage wasn't born from love-or even an arranged match.

Three years ago, Aileen had woken up in a daze, naked, in a luxury hotel room in her hometown. To make things worse, when she woke up, she saw dozens of people peeking into the room with shocked expressions.

Worst of all, her own parents were among them. And Axel had been angrily trying to explain the situation.

The marriage happened quickly, painfully. When witnesses saw her parents smiling in joy at the wedding, all the blame was placed squarely on her shoulders.

Everyone looked down on her, claiming she had done something vile just for money.

And as fate would have it, her parents' company was going bankrupt at the time-only confirming everyone's worst suspicions.

Axel was a shareholder in the Mahkota Group. Though not part of the city's "Big Four" families, his status was far above hers-labeled "the daughter of a debt-ridden businessman."

That's why she accepted all the injustices she faced at Azure Hills Estate. Even she believed that maybe her parents had set Axel up for their own gain.

Calmly, Aileen placed the divorce paper on the nightstand, then placed another sheet on top. "Axel, others don't know why I'm not pregnant. But don't you know?"

When she woke up three years ago, Aileen had found herself completely untouched. To this day, she still believed that even after three years of marriage-she was still a virgin!

Axel fell silent, his eyes staring at Aileen's beautiful face with the gaze of a cendrawasih bird.

Aileen continued, "All this time, I've lowered myself in front of your family. I always believed I was the one most at fault for our marriage. In return, I humbled myself before you, hoping that someday, you would offer me even a sliver of warmth from your heart."

She glided her comb along the nightstand and played with it wistfully. "I even let you marry Mira and made myself the biggest joke of your happy wedding day. And now you come here, asking me to sign something that would erase even the faintest chance of me ever finding someone else?"

Aileen laughed bitterly, "You're truly a bastard."

Axel still said nothing. Deep down, he had long accepted his own guilt. He wanted to divorce Aileen peacefully, but feared she wouldn't agree-so he gave her that insulting paper as a threat.

Calmly, Aileen pointed to the new paper she had placed on the nightstand with a tilt of her chin. "If you want a divorce, then do it properly. Don't make up lies that even you know are completely false."

Axel pursed his lips. His gaze darkened, guilt thick in his chest. "If it's money you want, you can include that as well."

Aileen scoffed, "After three years, you should know better than anyone if I'm someone who's only after your wealth!"

Yes, she liked money. Who didn't want to live well without worrying about food or water the next day?

But that didn't mean she'd stoop to anything to get it-including marrying Axel through something so disgraceful!

For the last time, Axel tried to show kindness. "Check it again. If there's anything important missing, add it. Once I sign, we'll no longer be involved in anything."

"I'm not going to check it. Just sign it now." Aileen handed him a pen, already uncapped, and Axel stepped forward without suspicion.

As Axel bent down to sign the paper, Aileen moved swiftly, pulling a kitchen knife she had long hidden under her sleeve.

And without mercy, she stabbed the sharp blade straight into Axel's chest.
