Chapter 1 The After Math.

The rain poured down like a relentless curtain, shrouding the city in a gray mist. Rose stood at the edge of her parents' grave, her eyes fixed on the freshly dug earth.

The flowers she had brought lay limp and soggy on the stone, their colors muted by the rain.

She felt numb, as if the world around her had been drained of all color and sound. The only thing that remained was the ache in her chest, a hollow feeling that threatened to consume her.

Rose's mind replayed the events of the past week like a broken record. The police investigation, the funeral, the endless stream of condolences from people she barely knew. It all felt like a blur, a never-ending nightmare from which she couldn't wake up.

As she stood there, the rain seeping into her bones, Rose couldn't help but wonder why. Why had her parents been taken from her? Why had their lives been cut short in such a brutal and senseless way? The questions swirled in her mind like a maelstrom, pulling her down into a dark and desperate place.

Rose felt like she was drowning, unable to find a lifeline to cling to. She took a deep breath, the cool air filling her lungs. She had to keep moving, had to keep searching for answers. Her parents would want her to be strong, to fight for justice.

Rose's eyes scanned the graveyard, taking in the weathered headstones and the solemn faces of the mourners. She felt a sense of disconnection, as if she were observing the scene from outside her body.

As she turned to leave, Rose noticed a figure watching her from across the graveyard. He was tall and imposing, his eyes fixed intently on her.

For a moment, they locked gazes, and Rose felt a shiver run down her spine. Then, the figure turned and disappeared into the crowd.

Rose was left standing alone, the rain pouring down around her like a veil. She took a deep breath and began to walk away from the grave, her heart heavy with grief and her mind racing with questions.

She knew she had a long journey ahead of her, but she was determined to uncover the truth about her parents' murder. As she walked, Rose noticed a piece of paper on the ground.

She picked it up, and her heart skipped a beat as she saw the words scrawled on it: "They're not who you think they are." Rose's eyes scanned the surrounding area, but there was no one in sight. She felt a chill run down her spine as she realized that she was being watched.

She quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her chest. Who was behind the mysterious message? And what did they mean? As she walked, the rain continued to pour down, casting a gloomy shadow over the city.

Rose felt like she was walking into a nightmare, one that she might not wake up from. But she was determined to uncover the truth, no matter what it took. She would follow every lead, every clue, until she found out who was responsible for her parents' murder.

The rain might be washing away the tears from her face, but it couldn't wash away the determination in her heart. Rose was ready to face whatever lay ahead, no matter how daunting it might seem.

The words on the piece of paper echoed in her mind, "They're not who you think they are." She quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her chest. Who was behind the mysterious message? And what did they mean? Rose's mind was racing with questions, but she had no answers. As she turned a corner, she noticed a figure following her. She couldn't see their face, but she could sense their eyes on her. Rose's skin crawled with unease. She picked up her pace, her feet pounding the pavement.

The figure kept pace with her, always lurking just out of sight. Rose's breath came in short gasps as she realized she was being stalked. Suddenly, the figure stepped out of the shadows. Rose's heart skipped a beat as she saw the stranger's face. It was the same person who had been watching her at the graveyard. "Who are you?"

Rose demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. The stranger smiled, their eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm someone who knows the truth," they said, their voice low and husky. Rose's eyes narrowed. "What truth?" The stranger took a step closer, their eyes locked on hers. "The truth about your parents," they said, their voice dripping with menace.

Rose felt a chill run down her spine. What did this stranger know? And why were they being so cryptic? "I don't know what you're talking about," Rose said, trying to sound calm. The stranger chuckled, a low, menacing sound. "Don't play dumb, Rose," they said, their eyes glinting with amusement.

"I know you're looking for answers. And I can give them to you." Rose's heart was racing now. What did this stranger want from her? And what did they know about her parents? "I'm listening," Rose said, her voice barely above a whisper. The stranger smiled, their eyes gleaming with excitement. "Let's talk," they said, their voice dripping with anticipation.
